"I guess. It always comes at the wrong time though," She said with a sigh. Well, what else could she do about it? She brightened up at the realization that the stormclouds were, in fact, quite far away. She was staring somberly out at the rumbling clouds when her new friend pounced. She didn't realize it until it was too late, and by the time she had started to try to move, she had already landed in a tangle of paws on the ground, trying to wriggle to her paws. She grinned and batted at Lio with a paw.

Lio laughed and tumbled sideways off of her. He landed in a fit of giggles and grinned at her, then picked himself up quickly. He prodded her with a paw and turned to run, "Tag!" He yelled, then took off through the grasses, small blue tail swinging high above them and giving away his position.

((xD Oh woe is the cub that doesn't know how to play tag!)))
Oh, no, not tag! Mzuza hated tag. Somehow, she could never see the entertainment value in running around and smacking each other with paws. She groaned inwardly as Lio took off running through the grass, his tail sticking up. "Oh, great..." She muttered as her new friend's tail receeded into the distance. "Geez, fine!" She shook her head and burst into a run, covering ground with long (albeit cublike) strides. Soon, Lio's tail had stopped getting smaller, and she could almost swear he was getting closer...

Lio knew she was nearby, and he stifled a giggle as he crawled through the grass on his tummy. He grinned as he crept away from her towards the large rock they had been near before. He hid behind it and laughed softly.

Where did he go? Mzuza blinked and looked around her. The vast savannah stretched out all around her, and there was no blue to be seen. "Hey!" She wiggled her nose in the air, as if trying to catch his scent, but the breeze had blown it away. She looked around again - and then spotted it. A pawprint! "Aha!" She cried, bounding forward as she followed the pawprint that she was sure her blue companion had left in the ground.

Lio watcvhed as she took off in the direction away from him, and he tilted his head to the side. What was she following? He wondered, then got a brilliant idea. He'd follow her! He snuck behind her, close to the ground, stalking her movements. He saw the pawprint she had seen, and looked at it curiously. It was too small to be his own, but too big to be a kangaroo mouse. He finally got so curious that he gave up his position and walked beside her. "What do you think left that pawprint?" He asked, grinning at her.

If she was surprised, she hid it quite well. "You," She said with a barely suppressed smile. She bent down to inspect it more carefully. It was too small to be a lion's, and shaped quite differently. "Maybe some sort of canine." She said finally, straightening up again. It wouldn't have been too surprising if it had been one. After all, did Mother have a maned wolf friend? Mzuza was sure plenty of other animals crossed the Pride Lands regularly.

Kialio smiled at her brightly, hopping forward to examine another of the prints. "Hmmm, here's another. But it's different." He said, looking back at the other print. One was long with three toe marks, the other just three lines with claw marks. He scrunched up his face in cunfusion, when suddenly something ran past them in the grass. Lio jumped with surprise and chased after it, calling to Mzuza to follow.

"What is it, though?" She called out, loping after him, after seeing the thing dash by so quickly that she hadn't be able to see what it was. She wasn't all too thrilled at the idea of chasing some unknown creature through the grass. All the same, though, she followed after Kialio, bounding through the grass, eager to see what it was they were chasing.

Lio looked at her and shrugged. "I don't know!" He said, chasing after it as well. "But it sure is fast!" He giggled, running after the unknown creature with the strange footprints.

((Sorry for the late post! I didn't realized you'd replied! xP;; ))
She had always wondered why some animals were so fast. She knew there were possibly many answers, but the one she always came back to was that hoofed animals ran faster so that it gave them some chance when the whole pride was after them. But this... thing that she and Lio were chasing was just so fast! They would never be able to catch it! She ran along just behind him.
Then it came to her. Perhaps magic could stop the creature? Or at least slow it down some? As she ran, she shut her eyes and went through the familiar process of summoning magic. She felt power flow into her limbs. It was such an intoxicating feeling - one that made her feel as if every single fur on her body was standing on end. She breathed deeply, and concentrated on slowly the mysterious creature down, and speeding Kialio and herself up.

Lio didn't notice his friend as she summoned magic, he just concentrated on making himself go faster. He suddenly began to feel himself moving at a quicker pace, his feet barely touching the ground as he ran. He blinked at himself. When had he become so fast? He grinned and kept going, realizing they were closing in on the small creature, who seemed to be tiring and slowing down.

It was hard to tell if her magic really had worked. She only knew that suddenly, she was moving up swiftly beside Lio and they were both gaining on the tiring creature. She grinned back at him and stretched out her legs even more, her strides eating away at the ground between the two cubs and their quarry effortlessly.

Suddenly Kialios paw struck down on the creatures tail, and the poor thing started making the most terrible sounds. Lio blinked at it, his chest heaving in and out from thier sprint. "Whoa whoa whoa!" He said to the... thing, as it tried to get away from the cub. It was a kangaroo rat! Lio looked down at it with big eyes, the thing matching his gaze with it's own, terror filled eyes.
"We won't hurt you, we just wanted to see what you were." He said, still holding the things tail. He had learned quickly not to eat when he wasn't hungry; killing for no reason was cruel, in his eyes. "Promise you won't run away if I let you go?" The thing looked at him with distrust plain on its face, but it slowly nodded it's head and Lio lifted his paw from its tail.

"It's some kind of a... rodent?" Mzuza blinked bewilderedly when she saw the creature clearly. It was obviously terrified, and she had to resist the urge to stick her muzzle into its face just to inspect it all over to see what it was. "I don't think it's dangerous..." She said, watching as the animal trembled in shock. Even if it was, it was in no shape to attack the two of them now anyway.
