Lady Nekochan: Exactly, my friends and I spend a lot of time holding him and they all agree that once you're with one you can never fear them again. They're so sweet and docile. He's only let out his fluid once but now that he's used to us he never does.
Jazi Mae: I know, I was excited about three years but seven? That means he'll die around when I'm 26. Long time to have a bug--it's exciting. He has two grinding plates in his mouth that pound his lettuce into paste. He prefers the vegetables and fruits to be slightly decaying or overripe so that it's easier to eat. Surprisingly, it doesn't smell bad at all.
Ailinea: Aww, too bad the little guy died. Chilo tends to fall off of people's arms a lot. He'll be crawling and they'll move slightly and he'll drop off. He's never been hurt but I try to keep him safe. I have a rule--nobody holds him when drunk xd
SilverLake: They're really easy to take care of and a great pet choice. The Giant African species is the beginner's millipede, too.

That bug is really cool, I wonder if holding one could help me overcome a fear I have....
See I can't hold spiders, crickets, caterpillars, starfish... things like that becuase of the way they feel on my hands. Caterpillars and starfish feel like they are suctioning on to me and I FREAK, spiders and other insects just.. I don't know sometimes their feet and hairs poke into and again I freak out.

Yume Keraun: He might be able to, everyone loves the little guy. He's so docile and harmless that nobody fears him after watching him move. He's very slow-paced and careful.
flip.renegade: He's not very fragile at all, he falls off of climbing a lot with no harm done. I wouldn't say he eats a lot, I give him some leaves once a week and he'll slowly eat them as they wilt. I don't know how intelligent he is. He doesn't seem to know that people aren't trees razz

Dread Dionaea Lady Nekochan: Exactly, my friends and I spend a lot of time holding him and they all agree that once you're with one you can never fear them again. They're so sweet and docile. He's only let out his fluid once but now that he's used to us he never does. Sounds like he's a fast learner! I've debated getting one at some point, but we already have 7 10 animals right now. I don't think I'd be able to properly care for one. Maybe later on in life. ^-^
Actually, I think a lot of bugs and arachnids get pretty bad reputations. I do reptile/pet bug photography every once in a while where I work, and I've done tarantulas before. Everyone says to be careful, because they'll fling their hairs at you if upset (which gets in your skin and itches and burns). Long story short, these two didn't. They just... sat there... One eventually climbed down the piece of driftwood and got to a point where it couldn't move anywhere else, so it slowly waved its front legs like a confused child. Oh, so frightening....
Vietnamese centipedes, however, are a different story... Put them in the cage and get out of the way!

You've inspired me to get one! I was going to wait until Wednesday, but I just can't wait any longer. xD I saw some at the pet store the other day and was going to buy it then; then I realized that I have no idea how to take care of one. Thought I'd read up on what I'm getting myself into. ^^

I work in a pet store, and I'm usually the one who gets to take photos of new reptiles/insects/arachnids for their tags. My manager's way too busy, my one coworker's usually pretty busy, and the other one's kind of scared of anything with scales or an exoskeleton..... xd
