Crim's outfit did make it harder on her to spot him. She had good night vision, but he was low to the ground and she was too low to effectively look around.

Luckily, her opponent still had the poor sense to talk to himself. And as far as she had heard, he was equipped to find her in the dark. Which made running somewhat less plausible.

The birds were still twittering at her. "Hush, chicks." She said in a gentle whisper. The ghost of the mother, sensing Crim was a rescue, not a greater threat, proceeded to coax her chicks into being louder. Kat winced, holding back several curses.

"I'll eat you all now." She whispered, much less gently. The mother, sensing it was a true threat, quickly quieted down the 3 chicks. Which suited Kat much better. Now where had Crim gotten to? Her ears twitched, listening for the smallest snapping twig.

Crim` crept closer to Kata inthe grand scheme of things, each step a quietly planned one. Quite a tense situation. He slowly turned his head as his eyes and ears took in everything.

He heard the fluttering of tiny birds and quickly turned to that direction, raising the batarang in his right hand across his chest and then stopping himself just as he was about to let the projectile fly. Ofcourse, this action did probably make some noise...

Fuuuuck, if I accidentally hit the birds it's game over... I'll be in trouble then, and it's way too easy to accidentally hit them in this darkness...

Kat heard him, looking in his general direction through the bushes, trying to spot his movement. She wasn't sure where he was though. Well, easiest way to find out.

Quietly pulling her magnum up, she shot in the general direction of the noise. It probably wouldn't hit him, but hopefully he'd jump and she'd spot him that way.

As soon as Bat-Crim heard the sound of the gunshot, he quickly took action and broke into a dash toward a tree, taking cover against it roughly in a Gears of War fashion. He deactivated his infrared and looked around anxiously.

Not hit... Good, at least I know she's close.

The masked man peered around a tree and grabbed a flash bang grenade from his belt, tossing it out and into the area he had a feeling the gunshot came from. It would ignite into a bright flash in a couple seconds, enough to light the area for a moment and possibly stun the catgirl with a bright instantaneous flash of light.

There he was! Kat watched him closely as his sudden movement revealed his position.

Which meant she was staring right at him when the flash bomb went off in her eyes.

"HOLY MOTHER OF CHAOS!!" She swore loudly, whipping her head away and closing her eyes tightly. She opened them quickly, staring at the ground as realization swept over her.

You are coming to a sad realization. Cancel or Allow?

Allow. She couldn't see. Her night vision had been completely destroyed. It wouldn't be back for several minutes, and until then she was blind.

And unless her attacker was deaf, she had just given him her exact location.

Her mind raced, she was completely thrown off. Suddenly, the solution hit her. Her left hand flat against the ground, her fire ring flared brightly and suddenly a ring of fire surrounded her, with a radius of about 3 feet.

Now where was the other guy? She couldn't have taken that long to react, could she? Minutes? More likely seconds. But for all she knew, the attacker was inside her firewall already. At least now she had light to see by.

A large wall of fire was quite a sight to behold in a dark park, and one that Bat-Crim stared at for more than a brief moment after the residual flash of the grenade had cleared. From well outside of the wall's radius the caped man peered at the catgirl. The caped night prowler quirked a brow behind his mask, wondering just how blind his adversary was.

Let's find out.

In a burst of speed Bat-Crim ran at the wall of fire, grasping the inner lining of his cape and bringing the cape up to the front of his body as he leaned over, increasing his running speed. He bursted through the wall of fire, shielding his face and body skillfully with his sturdy cape, and as he cleared it and had made it to within inches of the catgirl, he quickly threw his cape outward sending embers of flame flying off of the black material.

His cape was made of a flexible material but one durable enough to repel flames and even stop bullets. This part of his costume was a bit of a double-edged sword however, as it was quite heavy. Due to the cape's weight, it took quite a bit of stamina and endurance to run and jump around with it trailing behind. Fortunately for Bat-Crim, he was in good shape, but even for an average sized man in great physical condition, it would become tiresome after a while.

Either way, Bat-Crim's aim was to knock the stunned cat-girl silly with his outward flung cape move, and maybe even disconnect that nest of birdlings from her head. The weight of his cape would aid in creating a sizeable impact against her, if it hit.

As blind as she may be, the sight of someone jumping through her fire wall was not something easily missed. She soon found herself staring into red eyes for a second before her attacker made his move...

And flinched, ducking and turning her head. It was definitely gonna be a bad day. Luckily for her, ducking her head as she did was the best move she could have done as the heavy cape passed overhead. Mostly, at least. The edge of cape hit the back of her head painfully.

For once this night, her fighting instincts kicked in, and as Crim followed through with the heavy cape, rising to a stand, a leg whipped out, attempting to sweep his legs out from under him. If she could knock him over, hopefully she could get some distance between the two of them.

Damn this heavy cape...

...is what the man thought as he noticed the catgirl would sweep his feet out from under him unless he did something fast. Unfortunately, there was little Bat-Crim could do in the way of avoidance and he would soon find himself falling to the ground, the weight and momentum of his outflung cape preventing him from conjuring up any sort of way to avoid the sweep, especially at such close quarters. He was not without one trick however, and he made sure to hit the ground on his left knee after falling over to his left side, rotating his body sideways and bracing his body up on his hands as the sturdy knee pad covering his knee took much of the blow.

At least in this instance, he was allowed a relatively quick recovery with a backward roll which he executed the moment after his hands and knee hit the ground, grasping the batarang he had dropped while freeing his hands earlier to brace his body in the fall.

Kat was already moving from the second her leg stopped moving and she realized gravity was with her. Back out of her circle of fire she bolted, dropping the magical fire as she went. Not that it made a difference, the dense underbrush had already lit aflame itself, spreading slowly and lighting the area a bit.

Which worked well on her behalf. Her night vision was still dead, though it was slowly returning as she sprinted through the bushs. Branches whipped at her, but she didn't stop moving until she was beyond the light of the fire, crouched in the bushs and quietly panting.

Her vision returning, she gently touched the back of her head, wincing a little. And the day had started so nicely with a good meal.

It was then she realized one of the chicks was missing from her hair. Swearing quietly, she poked her head up, looking back towards the fire as if hoping to spot the little yellow bird.

Crim` watched her flee from his crouched position, raising his batarang over his head. He soon lost her, unable to keep his eyes on her with so much vegetation and flame obscuring his vision, not to mention she was moving rather quickly. What he did see and hear, however, was a baby bird that was crying on the ground. He placed his batarang back into it's holster, walking to the bird and gently picking it up.

He would soon crouch, holding it in cupped hands as he looked back out into the park.

That's one... But what do I do with it?

Bat-Crim kept low as his eyes wandered and he tried to come up with a safe solution in his head. There were quite a few threats, cats, dogs, hell, even owls were known to be in this park. He could leave, but that'd leave the other birds with the catgirl and that would not be good, even if he had saved one.

If I had a cage...

Kat sank to the ground slowly. No bird in sight. Crim probably had it by now. Damnit.

Well at least she had two birds still. They'd make a nice snack. Suddenly an invisible force threw itself at her. The ghost didn't exert any noticeable force on the catgirl, but she felt and sensed the mother beating at her with her wings anyways.

She winced and held up an arm to fend the ghost off, with no impact. As it was... You know... A ghost. Kat let out a low growl at the phantom-bird. It had no effect on the mother, but the two remaining chicks started chirping in fear.

"Should I just leave the chicks in a tree and come back when this is over?" She snapped. "Maybe if I'm lucky an owl won't eat them before I can." Her words made no impact though, as the mother tried to tear into her arm with non-existant claws.

Bat-Crim had to take action soon or it'd be too late, so he did just that, he took action! He quickly ran out into the clearing, across the street, to a conveniently open-for-business petstore, costume and all. After bursting through the rattling door and looking around quickly, he spied a woman behind the counter. He walked toward her and she seemed to shrink a bit at the intimidating appearance of the masked man. The man would soon, ofcourse, raise the tiny bird in his gloved hands to her and open said hands, the tiny bird within chirping lightly as it looked up at her.

The woman blinked.

"THIS IS A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH! I'LL BE BACK, I HAVE TO SAVE THE REST! PLEASE... TAKE CARE OF THIS ONE FOR NOW!" said Bat-Crim, dropping the tiny bird into the woman's hands which she hesitantly had extended. Bat-Crim would soon raise his cape to his masked face and walk out creepily as if he were Vincent Price himself, or at least a cheap imitator.

I am the night! he proclaimed as he walked back out into the street only to get a strange look from a couple out on an evening stroll after nearly bumping into them.

"WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT! BOOOooOOO!" he screamed as he raised his hands over his head, sending the two people walking away quickly and muttering various whispers about the population of 'crazies' that had apparently increased in town as of late.

And so after what was probably two minutes, he ran back into the park, panting. He stopped in a clearing where the moonlight seemed to shine into perfectly.

"Alright, where are you?" he asked rather loudly in a stern voice, panting, unclasping a batarang from his belt. He seemed to have had it with sneaking around in the dark.

Kat turned her head to the sound of Bat-Crim's voice, still trying to fend off an invisible bird. This would be the time to escape with the remaining birds and her life. She really had no reason to come out of hiding. Especially not fighting off an opponent she'd already beaten once today.

"Can I finish this fight?" She hissed at the mother. The mother seemed to not care, still attacking her. This was not good. She wasn't exactly capable of fighting ghosts. She was sure she was making some noise swatting at the ghost, but at the moment, she didn't really care.

Bat-Crim managed to hear all of the hissing and swatting that was going on nearby and he turned to the direction that the catgirl just happened to be.

"Wow..." he said, flicking his wrist and sending the closed half of his batarang rotating outward to snap shut in a ready, extended position. He began to run forward, toward where the noise was coming from, and after leaping ovr a bush he finally caught sight of the catgirl.

"Hand them over!" he screamed, throwing his batarang at the catgirl's left leg, aiming at her knee area. His aim was to wound her leg with the sharp spinning projectile so that he could easily take the birds. He aimed low to avoid hitting the birds in this dark lighting.

Kat jerked her head at the sound of Crim charging her just as he cleared the bush. She quickly tried to get to her feet, but Crim's boomarang caught up with her halfway, cutting across her left calf painfully.

The leg gave out and Kat fell heavily to her knees. She growled at the attacker, her eyes flashing dangerously as her right hand curled over the fallen boomarang. The ghost bird forgotten, she lunged at the masked man, slashing at his face with the blade of the boomarang.

She barely noticed as the blade sank into her fingers, the leather of her gloves just barely preventing it from drawing blood. She was beyond thinking by now.
