I am against the death penalty, although I do believe that sometimes certain people, such as Saddam Hussein (who was executed in Iraq). Let me explain. When somebody given a life sentence to jail for killing somebody else, they can always be proven innocent, just in case they aren't actually guilty. On the other hand, if you hang them, you can't bring them back to life. See my point? It's just not fair.

I agree with chainreader on the old testiment and new.
except on the concept that the old testiment shows nothing wrong with executing prisoners. The new testiment and covenant provided mercy for any man who breathes. therefore anyone besides God who takes said man's breath is committing a sin. for the most part God does not smite people or nations down today. I trust that is because He is holding out the gift of salvation until our last day on earth. That even goes for Saddam Hussein.
I understand that we get angry sometimes with people who are known murderers but God alone has the right to take a man's life: if only because He is the one who gave it.
I agree with many of you, but I doubt there is room for exceptions; especially today, after JC has died to pardon the vilest man if he ever repents.

I'm neutral on the Death Penalty... If they deserve it, then yeah, the need to be executed...
But, relize, that most people on Death Row DIE before they get the chance to be executed.

I am all for the old eye for an eye... if they maliciously kill then kill them. If they rape someone... um... stick em in a cell with a big guy named bubba for a few days.
