Rhomae nodded in Loreena's direction. "I am glad that you are well. And there is no need for an excuse - we all have such days sometimes," the hind stated thoughtfully.

She turned her attention to Brychan for a moment. Hah, poor stag. He had a fun harem to amuse himself with, she thought. What with Loreena's shy and somewhat giggly exterior, Telyn's sharp tongue and...apparently, specific instructions on how new hinds were to be added to the stag's herd, and Rhomae's quiet - usually quiet, anyway - contemplation of it all bringing up the rear...he had a handful. A loving handful. At least they didn't hate him, like she hated her last stag. And, well...her attempts at easing Brychan before fur got a bit ruffled was unsuccessful, so...

"Do not look so distressed, Brychan." she said, nudging him affectionately. "Though, I must say, it is rather adorable when you do."

The black and greyish-white hind smiled as she watched the brief exchange between Telyn and Brychan. Telyn backing off of her annoyance a bit, and Brychan trying to reach an agreeable solution for all. Rhomae nearly laughed at that smile on Brychan's face. It was the sort of smile that says 'I'm not sure if I should be smiling, but I am...please don't hurt me?'.

It certainly was very sweet that Brychan was willing to compromise, especially at this time in Anlach. Telyn looked back to the other hinds, most particularly Loreena as she was the favorite hind and thus the unofficial ‘leader’, waiting to hear their reactions. Well, sort of waiting. At least, she looked like she was going to wait. But, that just wasn’t a very Telyn thing for her to do, now was it?

“A forewarning would be nice… I’m just interested in keeping the peace, that’s all. Although Anlach doesn’t last long, it would be best for everyone if we got along.” Especially since she had a sneaking feeling that it would somehow affect fawns and calves if they didn’t get along, even if the babies in question were unborn. Stress was bad for expectant mothers, right? Oh, and the unborn. Yes, it definitely was.

“He is adorable when he gets flustered, doesn’t he, Rhomae?” Telyn said after a moment of consideration, her head canted to one side as if looking at Brychan from another angle would somehow make him more adorable. Actually, it just made him look as if he was standing on his side. Which simply amused Telyn a bit more, releasing a bit more stress and anxiety. “And he’s very easy to fluster too.”

Brychan's ears flicked backward as they started to turn a bit redder on the insides. Oh dear... he wasn't sure what to think of the hind's words. He was adorable when flustered? Stags aren't meant to be adorable you know! Eh. But he supposed it was meant as a compliment. Atleast his attempt at compromising was well recieved.

"Um..." was all he could think to say, although now he was just more confused than flustered. He didn't really know what to say! Although he was glad for Rhomae's affection which earned her a more genuine smile and less of a wary one. He shifted a bit in his awkwardness, though.

she could not help but giggle at Telyn's words, it was in fact true,
looking over at him like the other two. studying him carefully and enjoying the adorableness of his perplexed features.
"fear not" she said to him in a reassuring manner "us Hind have a knack for seeing such features in pretty much anything we like"

she smiled, looking back at the other hind.
she did think that Telyn was being a little to sensitive about it. she should trust Brychan, since of cource, he was a full grown Stag, and shouldn't have to explain what he does. but at the same time, she understood how it could make some Hind uneasy to sudenly be in another's unexpected company.
"I am glad this was resolved" she said barely loud enough for the others to hear.

"He is easy to fluster." Rhomae agreed with her gentle voice, pawing at the ground playfully. To her, this had hurned from a potentially uncomfortable and perhaps-slightly-violent (with Telyn being involved) situation to a more fun and lighthearted one. Kind of. The compromise had been reached, at least, and now it was time for Brychan to recover from being 'adorable'.

Not that he was any less of..anything, by being adorable. It was just amusing for the hinds. Besides - she liked the fact that he could be as tough and strong as he needed to be, but still be kind and...rather entertaining, for his hinds.

"Um? That's all?" Rhomae teased, giving a glance to Telyn to see if she would join in the fun. "My eloquent stag has nothing to say but um?"

Telyn seemed defused for now, or at least slightly less volatile. Or, at least, just a little bit less likely to attack. Not that she would have anyway. Much. Anyway, she was temporarily distracted from her annoyance by how cute Brychan was acting. His adorable ‘um’ only added to the cute factor.

Naturally, the gray hind would join any activity if it involved making fun of someone, especially if that particular someone really deserved it at the moment. In her eyes, Brychan definitely deserved it. Sure, the hind he had brought back was nice---and much better company than Loreena---but that didn’t change the fact that he had brought her back without informing the other hinds. He demanded teasing, especially when he was doing that whole cute thing.

“Come now, Rhomae; ‘um’ is a many-splendored word with hundreds of nuances. It’s a historically important word in our past. For example, did you know that Starbuck used to say ‘um’ before every meal?” Yeah, she was making it up, but it was probably true. Who didn’t say ‘um’ at least once a day?

If the stag could, he'd probably facepalm right about now, especially after Telyn's little comment about Starbuck. Oy. Honestly.. did he really deserve all this teasing? He hadn't meant to cause any harm, really! He glanced at each hind in turn, before eventually sighing in defeat. "Yes yes... very funny" he remarked towards the grey hind. A bit of a smirk forming on his muzzle. "I'm glad that you ladies find me so amusing... What a delightful source of entertainment I'm sure." The stag chuckled and shook his head.

His perplexity was finally leaving him as the matter seemed to be resolved. Brychan taking the good natured jabbing and comments about how adorable he was, in stride. He certainly took no offense to it, inface he rather enjoyed the attention from the hinds.

"Yes, of course, how silly of me." Rhomae said, chuckling at Telyn's words. Starbuck saying 'um' before every meal..right. And how believable she was, too - Brychan was probably laughing inwardly at just how silly the two hinds were being.

"Well, I'm glad that you're glad." Rhomae countered, smiling. "Come now, Brychan, don't look so serious. Tis all in good fun." the hind said softly, smiling a little. She had a feeling that he knew they were kidding...but she wanted to make sure.

It was a bit of a relief when Brychan simply took the good-natured teasing in stride. After she had spoken, Telyn had considered the consequences of making fun of a stag. He was, all in all, a pretty decent stag. He hadn’t pushed her into anything and, as far as she could tell, hadn’t pushed Loreena or Rhomae into anything either. He was nice enough to listen to their wishes and respond to them, which was very sweet. She didn’t want to lose that over a silly joke or being overly sensitive.

“Of course, Brychan. Stags exist just for the amusement of hinds. And you are, by far, the most amusing one.” She nudged his shoulder slightly, just enough to let him know that she was just teasing. Well, partly. At least, she didn’t believe that stags were just there for entertainment. The other part, she believed completely. Most of all, she believed it was a compliment.

"I'll take that as a compliment" he said to Telyn with a bit of a boyish grin. Well there you go, complete with a nudge back to the lovely grey hind. Again he chuckled, and nodded his head to Rhomae, "Of course my dear...I know its all in good fun." A nudge was offered to Rhomae as well.

He didn't want to push any of them into anything if he didn't have to. After all.. he already told Telyn that it was up to her whether she ventured out of the herd or not. Although, he had made it clear that he didn't like the idea. He was not her boss though, he merely hoped to be a companion in which they could confide in, trust, and perhaps even come to love. Just because Loreena was his favorite, didn't mean he didn't have enough affection to go around for all of them.

Telyn smiled softly in response to the nudge, an oddly peaceful look for the typically wild-living hind. It didn’t last long, naturally, since such a gentle-look could ruin her hard-earned reputation, even if no one else was around except for Brychan and his hinds.

The gray hind, for one, already trusted Brychan a bit. At least, she had told him of her desires to explore a bit, with the full knowledge that he could turn her in to the Lord of the Herd or whoever was supposed to deal with wayward hinds. She had no idea if there was any set punishment for this… but, it didn’t really matter that much.

“You’re getting soft, Brychan,” she said with her usual smirk. “Next thing you know, you’ll just want to laze around with your hinds all day instead of being an Outrider.” Actually, Telyn had the sneaking feeling that most stags would love a chance to do that.
PostPosted: Fri Mar 30, 2007 10:48 pm

Brychan's ears flicked at Telyn's words, his smile never leaving his muzzle for an instant, his eyes having softened a bit. "Really now.. is that such a bad thing?" he asked innocently. Although he would love to do that... the duty of an Outrider called to him. Brychan took pride in being an Outrider, and hoped to be a Captain and/or Lord of the Herd. Even if he had the chance to stay with his hinds all day.. he still would be drawn to the ways of the Outrider. Simply for the sheer adventure and mystery of it all.

As far as punishment for hinds sneaking off, Brychan wouldn't be able to answer that question either. In his days as an Outrider, there hasn't been any hinds that have knowingly snuck off... thus no punishment given. If there was such a thing, he didn't know of it.

"Being with us, or being an outrider?" Rhomae joked, returning his nudge. Of course, she knew which one he was talking about, but this was fun. Besides, if he somehow didn't realize that she already knew the answer to her own question, it could be even more entertaining.

She glanced at Telyn, remembering their 'plans'...or, Telyn's idea, at least. Punishment? Heh. That was one of the points Rhomae brought up. But if even Brychan didn't know, really, there was no point in worrying about it. Her point was lost if no one knew whether or not they could actually be punished. Ok, actually, whether or not they could wasn't the issue. Anyone could do anything. However, would they? Maybe not Brychan specifically, but the other outriders?

Rhomae shook her head. No sense in worrying about it right now. They were still bugging Brychan.

“Of course it would be a horrible thing to spend all your time with us!” Telyn said in mock tones of shock, horror, and disdain. It was amazing how a hind---or anyone---could fit so many emotions into just one voice, but she could handle it. “If you didn’t go out and do the whole Outrider thing, how would I get exciting stories to listen to? That would really take an edge off of your entertainment value, Brychan. But, I don’t think it would take away from your adorable-factor. It’s very difficult to detract from your adorable-factor.”

Say, maybe she ought to make up a ranking system for stags. It could include Entertainment Value, Adorable-Factor, and some other stuff that she had yet to make up. The idea appealed to her simply because boredom got to her very quickly. She had to do something to keep her mind busy. If she didn’t keep it busy, it might very well explode, which would be a relief and a distress to everyone involved. Relief because it meant Telyn wouldn’t get into any trouble, and distress because… well… life without Telyn would be much more boring. Although, a bit more relaxing. And slightly less hectic.

Brychan might be cute... but he wasn't stupid.. not always anyway. Unless he gets a roll for 3 in intelligence when fighting a rival stag for Lord of the Herd. Har har. Stooopid. Anyway. He smirked at Rhomae, "You know what I mean."

However, Telyn's words soon captured his attention yet again and he laughed. "Of course! I hadn't thought about that.. its all too true. I must have strories to tell! Perhaps that wolf will come around and actually eat Pride this time!" Naturally he didn't actually wish such a fate on any herla.. but that was the beauty of joking around. Especially when it came to... somewhat unintelligent stags who try to fight wolves. "I suppose I'll have to uphold my excitement value.. even with the adorable value. But even so.. it doesn't mean I can't come visit once in awhile, right?"
