http://www.guardiansorder.com/pdfs/goo_TriStatdX.pdf I think Onion or someone said they wanted to look at this. Anyway, I think Sith has a genious idea as to how to settle this. A trial run would be the easuest way to solve the problem of would it work and how would it work. Also, I dont think we should have a dice roll ofr everything. As a few people have said, that ruins storyline a bit by forcing people to have to attempt to do everything instead of doing it. Now, the tri-stat thread actualy works on points rather than zperience-I would suggest perhaps starting everyone at 3/3/3 stats wich I think are the stats of the average adelescent and give them a few points to spend. After this, every ao many lines they post in the rping thread they will get a new point to spend. For example, in this post with the page fully opened (though it is ooc and therefore would not be counted) there are 10 lines. I am sure everyone can agree that this idea is far from perfect but it is my finalized attempt. We have been talking about it for months which is one of the main reasons I attempted in the first place. I am pushing for this for the pure reason that many people need an insentitive to post often even if the incentitive is tied in with something that will rarely actually apply.

I think a trial run would be a good idea as well. We can draw up something that fits for us here and take it for a test run so to speak. That way we can work out all the kinks and issues that come up before they become problems.

Sounds good to me. Count me in for the trial stuff. I'd be glad to help where I can.

As long as someone's willing to give a tutorial in layman's English You can count me in too. While putting everyone on an equal footing is technically fair I think having the staggered experience and power level would probably be better, firstly because character's like Victoria, Morgan etc have been in th institute longer they've had more training (same with any long running Brotherhood memebers) so anyone joining recently (Me included) wouldn't have the training or experience that the Old Guard have. If new members wanted to gain experience maybe schedual DR sessions or have it as a seperate thread.

I'm just throwing the idea out there...

Why don't we just reenact episodes like we did with The Cauldron plot?

Or the Apocalypse episodes?

Actually, my Victoria and Sith's Morgan haven't really been around longer then any of the other characters in the RP. True, us as member and RP'ers we've been here longer, and yes, as characters Victoria and Morgan have been around for quite a while, but when we started the current RP thread back in April we considered it a complete reboot of the Evo system. Meaning, all characters pretty much started out as 'All New!' and that any and all previous RP events never actually happened...

Plus, just thinking about this, if I did go back and stat my Victoria using every single RP post from the past two years, she'd be uber powerful, which wouldn't be fun for any of us, would it? I'd have nothing to strive for RP-wise, for starters...

But I can see what you mean though. Everyone starting with the exact same stats is a bit boring. Perhaps, we could work a 'lucky throw' type thing into the system, in which at the start of the game (or randomly, throughout the thing, for that matter), players can roll a hundred sided dice or something, and win the rare change to start off with so many more stat points then everyone else. That's just an idea though.

And yes, of course the battle system would be optional. Completely optional. It's damn hard enough finding active literate RP'ers as is, trying to find active literate RP'ers who want to do a battle system would be near impossible.

And yeah, a test thread would be a no brainer as far as I'm concerned, seeing as half of us are completely in the dark as to how a battle system actually works. I include myself in that, ftw.

Hmm, actually, the idea of getting a random starting bonus isn't too bad. Hell, if someone were really ambitious, it could have all manner of options, some good, some bad, that you can randomly get when you start.

But, I really came here to suggest some plot hooks.

Have some sort of government-sponsored task force who answers disturbances caused by mutants appear. Don't even make them very anti-mutant; they're there as much to minimize collateral damage and protect civilians as to contain the actual trouble from superpowers. Make the characters just ordinary folks doing their jobs (ok, maybe cyborgs, or something), not a bunch of guys out to round up anyone who's different and drag them off to prison. And, make them willing to work with people like the X-men, rather than just open fire on both sides.

...Or course, even if this group is made with the best intentions, doesn't mean anyone else would see it that way...

I'll probably think of more appropriate ideas, later. I'll be honest and say I'm not too familair with the setting, and what does/doesn't work, but I'm avoiding the impulse to suggest anything involving aliens, giant robots, vampires, or similar silly things.

Not bad. Actually, it's quite a good idea. We'll need to flesh it out a bit more, but otherwise a good starting point. Feel free to submit any additions to this to me, or the other mods!

Keep up the good work!

Vampires, aliens, and robots have been done on xmen anyway.

I dunno, to me it just does not make any sence to start off equally. If we were going to, the way I see it we would need to start a rp over which is too much trouble. It's like puty someone like multiboy up against Wolverine. It's possible the other might win but I think we can reasonably guess. A more reasonable example though would be putting one of the new students from the second half of the series up against oh say a seasoned member of the brotherhood. Excusing Toad, I think any of them would be a surefire win.

Wolverine wins not because of experience, but because in GURPS terms he's like a 300-400 point character. When someone can regenerate from having a nuke dropped on them (he actually did in one of the Venom comics).... yyyyeah.

I'm still a fan of the GURPS system: have a set number of points to spend on merits or gain from flaws. The system allows for extremely unique characters with diverse skills.

And also we'd have to take into consideration those of us that are playing cannon characters who have been part of the X-men for a while and aren't just now joining the team. A cannon character would have more experience than new people even if someone claimed them today. So, we'd have to give some sort of points based on history as well. It would be silly to have, say, Victoria be more powerful than Storm, all because Victoria has more posts.

A bit off topic, but technically, Victoria could overpower Storm, if she used her powers right. After all, one of Storm's specialties is just that: generating storms.

And storms make a LOT of noise. Victoria's power is sonarkinesis. Imagine what she could do with that much ammunition. If Victoria really wanted to be mean, she could concentrate all of that noise into a sonic boom heading in only ONE direction. If you get hit by air waves moving at the speed of sound, not only will you go deaf, you will probably be crushed as well.

Technically, almost anyone could beat anyone if they used their powers properly.
