Bright coat? By the gods if Cyn could see the wind Yei could speak of, she would know the meaning of bright. If anything, he was a little too vibrant for his own good. If she was honest, she would have pointed out that Ares (the wind Cyn spoke of) actually had a very nice coat. Actually, his pelt was a very desirable one and were it not for his wings he would hold much more -

"Natural beauty." She spoke out loud, voicing her own thoughts before promptly shaking her head. "I would not call his pelt bright, so much as natural beauty such as that which you have." She pointed out, referring to the subtle pelt. It wasn't an insult, rather it was a veiled compliment indicating that she clearly appreciated those of a paler pelt to her own.

"But yes, I refer to nothing more than how long it will take him to realise his own folly."

She tilted her head as she spoke 'natural beauty', she shook her head. "I dislike my own, neutral and earthy toned. It bothers me..." she looked to the feathers that were adorned her, "My two legger thought these would cheer me up because she knew I thought of my own coat less than others with more colorful tones." she sighed softly. "Ares is just bright as in white, almost blinding like the snow when its at it's best...he's unique in his family. He was the only child to inherit his father's wings and was the only one white. The rest of the family has a darker black then my own, like the darkest of nights. His mother and sister were without wings like us."

She started thinking again, "Well he is determined when it comes to tasks, and he is also quite intelligent so I'd say awhile. He isn't one to give up so easily. And if he travels enough he might come to realize what I've done." she shrugged. "Maybe an hour or two." her emerald orbs shone brightly with her success. She only wanted to play a trick, not to be cruel.

"And hopefully what he has done to deserve it as well." Yei added softly. In a way, she found the prospect of tricking the exotic to be amusing but something in her nature chastised her. She may have 'disliked' their kind but she couldn't be quite so cruel (so to speak). Yes, it was a trick on Cyn's part but if Yei were to emulate it...it probably wouldn't have been quite so amusing.

"There is nothing wrong with earthy pelts." Her tone was suddenly sharp though and her eyes became hard. A fiery passion burned deeply within her assure gaze and she eyed the mare critically for some time before at last explaining herself -

"Those with such pelts are gifted with many things. Their coats can merge with any other, they can blend into their surroundings and they can possess a subtle beauty that no other can claim as their own." She flattened her ears briefly and then motioned somewhat quickly towards her own pelt.

"Whereas this can cause problems - it cannot meld with all colours and is most certainly not desirable among the masses."

"Rest assured that this is all in good fun, Yei." she smiled sweetly, which seemed to be her normal expression for the days unless she was in a sour mood.

She shook her head, "Sure we can blend in with the crowd and you are right its subtle beauty if even that." she looked to her honestly and a bit more heart felt, "You have more than subtle beauty, you stand out in a crowd. And what you may think isn't beautiful is, when you walk in a crowd others look not because you aren't desirable it's because you are." her tones seemed to have the same ring now. They both felt the same way about each others coats. She had only met one other that wanted an earthy coat, but why?

She didn't understand, still. She could see why, sha had saw how the two mares had discussed how's the other is far prettier. But still she did not see stallions fighting over her or saying she was desirable. She was sure a mare with her colors got a fair amount of attention from anyone she wanted.

She didn't. All her life Yei had never received even an ounce of romantic interest and she blamed it solely on her coat. She as older than Cyn, had experienced much more and to point out that she had watched as those stallions had gone for natural pelts... well, it hurt. She had always been cast aside in favour of the subtle colours - and there was nothing she could do about it.

"You assume much." Yei replied flatly, shaking her head as though she found the girl to be naive. "Very few will turn their head as I enter an area, I clash against the landscape and some would claim it is an eyesore to behold." She arched a brow silkily and seemed to consider something very carefully before speaking once more...

"Do you know how many stallions have rejected me in favour of a natural pelt?" It was more a rhetorical question than anything. "Too many." She replied before the poor mare had time to respond, "So trust me when I assure you that your pelt is far more desirable than my own in that regard."

She sighed, "Then we are in a stand still, one of the ones I cared for deeply left me for a more colorful counterpart, he said that she was more his type. And when she left him, he tried to come back saying that he could settle for less." she looked to her obviously hurt.

She shook her head, "I don't assume, I'm taking from experience...but if you still take it as being young, inexperienced and stupid, so be it." she shrugged. "I fell for him like a hopeless romantic, listened to his sob stories on how pretty I was, and I watched him leave for someone better." her emerald orbs watched her in a cold hate for the stallion usually never found in one so happy and enthusiastic as Cynara. "So please take in consideration some of the words you have spoken." she really didn't like the conversation the way it was going. Especially when Yei seemed to have the potential to be a good friend.

Well, Cyn's declaration had been none too subtle and her words hit Yei like a ten tonne boulder. Alright, so that was an exaggeration but it definitely took the wind out of the mare's sails. It seemed that despite all her experiences, somewhere in the world there was always someone experiencing the same things...in opposite.

So Cyn had been abandoned for one of more colour? Yei's eyes clouded as she heard of the words he had used to try and get her back.

"I hope you gave him a swift kick to the backside." She stated in a flat tone, her expression one of obvious disapproval. Oh, but the things she would do to a stallion if he had the nerve to coin those phrases to her - death wouldn't quite cover it!

"And perhaps more - actually i really hope you gave him more."

She shrugged, she couldn't even describe the hurt and rage that was in her as it had happened. She tried to make the best of things. "I remember running off but that's about it..." she tried to recall, she had tried so hard to forget. "My father went after him, but I caught up with him and told him it wasn't worth it." she sighed softly and pulled out a weak smile. "Try to think of the positives, though dwelling on the bad never gets anyone anywhere."

"Very mature of you." Yei smiled wryly as she considered the many things she might have done to a stallion that tried that on her. Luckily all the stallions she had fallen for had simply rejected her and hadn't attempted to insult her - if they had, she would have expected quite a few geldings to be in existence now! The very thought of how ridiculous her revenge sounded made her giggle slightly.

"I'm afraid I can't be as mature, if that had of been me then I suspect I would be more notorious than I already am. Feisty wouldn't quite cover it!" She perked up considerably and gave a whicker, her own young streak clearly amused her if only for a while.

"Although you have to admit, thinking up methods of revenge is a lot of fun - I really don't think a stallion would enjoy looking like a chicken, do you?"
