Elisa didn't actually get that Holden didn't like talking because everyone liked talking! Well...at least she loved to talk, but that's all that mattered in her little world. If she loved to talk, then everyone else must love to talk too. Elisa just thought that Olden couldn't as well as she did since she was such a superb speaker. Grand mama would be teary-eyed with the progress Elisa has made. She'd be so proud! Elisa the five star talker!
...Actually, it didn't help that normally would not stop talking. That's more likely the reason.
Elisa nodded her head at Holden as she tried to comprehend what he just said. So they were at the boardwalk, and a flower went missing? "So...Flower missing too?" The red hair replied as she cocked her head.
No...that didn't seem right.

Holden shook his head, that wasn't what he meant at all. He wasn't that hard to understand, he couldn't be after all Tristan could understand him (mind you it took forever). He started to look worried and sniffled a little again. This was getting him no where fast and he needed to find the puppy before he got in trouble.
He had only ever seen Tristan really mad a couple of times and every time he had been mad at Dmitri. The idea of Tristan yelling at him was terrifying poor Holden. He might even punish him, even though leaving the house unsupervised and losing the dog was totally not his fault. This was the end of the world and he was on the verge of crying again.

Noticing Holden on the verge of tears, Elisa became worried as well. Still being quite young, she lacked empathy towards others and didn't quite understand why others truly got upset. She was lost in her own little world, and seeing Holden upset again confused her. Did the missing Flower really upset him? Apparently. He was going to cry again, and Elisa hated crying. If Olden was upset...well...it upset her too then.
Sniffling, Elisa tearfully hugged Holden. "No cry. We find Amlet and Flower!" She declared rather triumphantly. She was newly determined to find the lost puppy as well as the lost Flower.
For Olden!
Whether she stayed out all night, she'd find them. For Olden...and his pretty, fluffy tail. Who cares if Ivan got in trouble? This was for Olden!

Holden didn't stop sniffling, he was still upset but he was calm and he nodded. What then needed to do now was figure out how they would find the puppy. Calling hadn't worked (well it would have if they had only called longer, but what are you going to do about it?).
They needed to think of something else to do. Oh there was that one thing Holden could think of. Everytime Tristan would put out the puppy's food he would come running because he always knew it was there.
Holden didn't have any food though... hm, maybe Elisa did.
"Food?" Holden asked her, hoping maybe this idea would work.

Food? Was Olden hungry now? A person can't complete their mission on an empty stomach, but where to get Olden food? Perhaps, she had some leftovers from Ivan's snack time in her dress pocket. Most likely. Ivan always gave her too much or something totally disgusting and pocketing it was the only escape.
Reaching in her dress pocket, Elisa rummaged around its contents. Her pudgy fingers caressed smooth things but also managed to find something rough. This content seemed brittle since Elisa could feel herself cracking it in half.
Finally pulling it out, Elisa was glad to discover a cracker. It wasn't just any ordinary cracker though. No. Ivan put hummus on it. Yuck! And he expected her to eat it...
It did have a strong scent though...
"Here, Olden." Elisa started as she tried to hand Holden the food. "Food."

Holden smiled and clapped before taking the cracker from her. It looked so gross, and he made a face as he looked at it. Well it didn't matter, he wasn't the one who was going to eat it, Hamlet was.
He set the cracker down on the ground carefully and took a step back. Any minute now, any minute the puppy would come running to snatch up the cracker. Any... why wasn't he here yet?
"'AMLET!" Holden called once again for good measure.
Hamlet hearing his name again decided he would go to check it out. As he got closer he could smell the humus. Having never smelt anything like it before the puppy got curious and excited and started to run and ran right to the children. We more he ran at them.

Elisa knew hummus was yucky and all, but why did Olden simply reject her food and put it on the ground? That was kind of rude, and it made Elisa angry and sad all at the same time. She was nice enough to feed the poor starving poor, and this was the thanks she got!
Though, as the boy started to call for his dog, it finally clicked with Elisa. Oh! The cracker wasn't for Olden, but for Amlet! What a grand plan! Olden sure was smart! Elisa would have never thought of something like that. If she was by herself, she probably would have given up by now and blamed everything on Ivan, but they didn't give up! She and Olden were going to find the puppy!
Go Olden! Go Elisa! They sure did make a great team...
Clapping her hands excitedly, Elisa mirrored the boy and called for Hamlet as well. "ALMET!"
Seeing the puppy, Elisa smiled profusely and ran towards him with Holden. "Pretty!"
It was true too. It was a cute puppy, and he did have a tail like Olden.
Pretty, fluffy tail...

Holden clapped excitedly when he saw the puppy. It was a sucess, the had gotten Hamlet back and he wasn't going to be punished! Yes, all was right in the world!
Hamlet was by far more interested in the food. Ignoring the children at first and snatching up the cracker and devouring it right away like the hungry dog he is. It was after a moment that he took notice of Holden and Elisa.
He sniffed at Holden first but got bored, it was a smell he was far too use to. Elisa on the other hand was new and thus exciting. Hamlet's tail wagged frantically as he went over to her and sniffed her a few times before giving her a nice wet dog kiss.

Elisa was startled to say the least. This was probably the first puppy she ever saw in person. Most of the ones she saw were either on TV or pictures, and they couldn't jump out and lick you.
No.
The only animal she really only interacted with was Mr. Foofoo, who was Grand Mama's cat, and he wasn't friendly. All he did was sleep and hiss at Elisa. How rude of him. Who cares though. He was fat and always laid on Grand Mama. They could be miserable together.
The licking was the problem though. Sure, it was nice and cute, but it left Elisa feeling all yucky. Eww...A wet kiss. She needed to wash up, but there was something about Amlet that told her to stick it out.
Amlet was cute and fluffy.
Regardless, that was beside the point. They found Amlet! How exciting!
Go them!
"We found Amlet, Olden!" She exclaimed happily as she pet Hamlet on the head.

Holden nodded and grinned from ear to ear. He started to pet the puppy (once Hamlet was done slobbering on Elisa), just like Tristan had taught him, gentle so not to hurt him. He knew it would help keep the puppy there, so he wouldn't run away again, he tended to just sit, tounge lolling when he was petted.
He held his other hand out to Elisa, it was something he and Uncle Dmitri did every time they succeeded at doing something, like finishing a craft or covering up something they had done/lost/eatten that they knew Tristan wouldn't be happy about. He was going for a high five.

Glancing at the hand for a moment, Elisa wasn't entirely sure what Olden wanted. Was it dirty? Did he want a handkerchief for it? While this thinking was going on, the small girl cocked her head to get a better look. It looked fine, so her thought process must be very wrong. Though, what was it?
Mirroring Holden, Elisa put up her hand too? Were they being Native Americans at Thanksgiving? Elisa remember seeing a movie with Ivan about this...
"How?" Elisa said slightly confused.

How? She didn't understand? How could you not understand?
Oh well he could just show her. He stopped petting the puppy (but still paid close attention to Hamlet, he'd cry again if he ran away again. Holden then took one of Elisa's hand's and held it up like he had done and then hit his hand against her.
"High-five," he said as if to try and explain with just two words.

Oh? High five! That's why he held his hand up. She thought they were suddenly playing "Indians" or something, thus the "How". Oh well...Elisa now knew that if something held up their hand, they wanted a high five.
"High five!" She chimed back to Holden holding up one hand and petting Hamlet with the other.

He went to petting his puppy happily. Holden loved his Hamlet, it was really the only one in his apartment that he could play with (Tristan worked and Dmitri slept). And to think he almost lost him.
He would have without Elisa's help. He wanted to express his gratitude for the help but he wasn't sure how. There was that word Tristan kept telling him he needed to say... what was it? Oh!
"Fanks," he said, still petting his puppy.
