"I dunno bout that," Fiara answered "I tend to take what my mommydaddy says without question. I guess that's not the best way of thinking..." Fiara understood this about herself but hadn't worked on changing it, she thought her parents were flawless, it was a childish notion, but one she was still comfortable in.
At this admission Fiara brightened, "I can teach you~ if you want that is. I'm gonna be the best flyer there is when I grow up." She boasted so sure and full of herself, she was in love with the sky ever since her fiery father and taken her aloft with him she wanted to claim the sky on her own.
"Do you want to go exploring with me? I haven't been to this area of Numa land before, I bet there's some great stuff to see here." Fiara asked this, but remained laying down with her head resting on her paws, she shifted and tucked her right paw under a bit, the flame flickered and was snuffed though the paw stayed warm to the touch.
Much warmer that the rest of the pup's cool body, it had happened on her first day and she was so used to it that she payed it no mind knowing that it would light again later even if dampened.

Ashe shrugged, "Asss my kweh father'sss friend would sssay, "To kweh each hisss own"," Ashe tilted her head to the side, "Oh? Father and I kweh argue quite a bit." She replied, smiling, "We have kweh many disscusssionsss on many thingsss. It iss kweh alwaysss fun to talk with father." She shrugged, "I kweh do not sssee my mother kweh nearly assss often, but it isss kweh alwaysss nice to kweh be with her assss well." She had always been this way toward her parents. Both her father and Skye had always encouraged individuality and to choose your own path. So this was what Ashe had known.
Ashe's ears flicked back slightly and she glanced away, embarrassed, "Ah...I am kweh not sssure if I would kweh be good at sssuch a thing..." She whispered, and altered the subject, "You do? Well, kweh, good luck then!" She smiled, truly wishing the other girl such.
A shrug, did she? She was still tired from her lack of sleep..."I Am kweh sssure there isss." She replied vaguely, glancing around, "But I have kweh exploring much of thisss kweh place. At leassst around kweh here." She shrugged again, half-lidding light yellow eyes.

"Yes," she agreed, "it is fun to talk with daddies, they know so much." She thought back to the times they had spent curled together and enjoying the time spent.
Though she perked up when Ashe admitted that she was unsure about flying, "Why?" Fiara questioned, the one subject she would really push on, "The sky was made for us to fly in," she was so sure, "I'm sure you could be just as good a flyer as any girl." She had shifted and the flame on her forepaw and rushed to life flickering bright and hot, melting the candied grass around it. A dry twig caught fire and Fiara didn't notice so focused on Ashe as she was, though the fire was not likely to spread across the ground it did begin to singe Fiara's fur releasing the foul smell of singed hair.
"If you're not awake enough yet, I can go off on my own until you are and then you can join me, or I could bring you some breakfast, you like gummy fruits?" Fiara stood now and sniffed.
"What's the smell?"

Ashe nodded once and acknowledged the clear fact, "Indeed," She replied softly, smiling.
She blinked, staring at bit at her in surprise, "Well," She began, flushing a bit with mild embarrassment, "I haven't kweh really thought about sssuch kweh yet." She shrugged helplessly, "I'm jussst a kweh pup, and I kweh like to explore on the kweh ground." Ashe blinked at her new friend in surprise and looked away, almost ashamed of her views, "Ha, ha, do you kweh think ssso?" She asked, wondering if she would ever be able to fly well.
Ashe's nose wrinkled back at an acrid scent and she sat up, trying not to smell what she could, "Do you kweh sssmell that?" She asked, placing a paw over her nose. She glanced around searching for the source of such a horrid scent. FInally glancing down she blinked in surprise, "Er....you're kweh burning, Fiara...." She pointed out a paw reaching out to snuff it out.

Both girls had caught the smell at just about the same time, Fiara brushed off Ashe's insistence that it was her burning, "My paw always done that Ashe, but it's never smelled before." Sitting back on her haunches she brushed at the burning on her arm and then she noticed the singed patch, "Ew, that's never happened before." She inspected the spot and recoiled from the smell, ruffling the matted fur to try and rid her arm of the singed hair hoping that the smell would go too. She twisted her body about she looking for other patches and finding none shivered.
"Its never burned my fur before," she indicated her own fire, by now the twig had burned its self out and just ash was left to mark its place, Fiara didn't understand.

Ashe blinked and watched her new friend curiously, "Well...." She began, unsure of how to respond to such a statement, "Perhapsss it isss kweh a bit of a warning?" She shrugged helplessly, unsure of what to say or do, "Maybe kweh not all of you isss immune to your kweh flamesss or kweh perhapsss you are sssick?" These were merely suggestions, who was she to know of another persons power or ability?
She reached over and patted her new friend on the shoulder, "Or maybe sssomething isss going to kweh happen? Maybe kweh you are sssuppposssed to learn kweh ssssomething?" She didn't know what to do; she had never entcountered this situation before.

Fear and anger welled up in Fiara, not directed at her newest friend, not directed at anyone but herself, "Umm yea, yes, I'm sure it's nothing serious, it didn't hurt... I just have to be more aware of it, more careful," her voice shook and she put her left paw to her head.
"Heh." She gave a mirthless laugh, "I'll talk with my dad and my brother see what they think."
Fiara smiled at Ashe, "Anyway, I do think that you would be a great flyer, you just have confidence, you'll see. We don't have to learn this minute, or even tomorrow" she looked up at the sky through the tree leaves, "the sky will always be there."
Fiara kept brushing her cool hand over the singed spot on her upper arm, she couldn't admit it to her stong, smart friend but it really scared her. Fiara knew that the flame on her hand sometimes lit other materials on fire but she had not even been affected by it before, she had believed that she was completely immune.

Ashe looked at her friend with concern, "Are you kweh sssure you're okay?" She asked, touching her friend's shoulder again, "You ssseem kweh dissstresssed." She gave her friend a reassuring smile, "It'sss alright, you kweh know." She informed her, "Everyone kweh hasss weaknesssesss and faultsss." She nodded, "I'm kweh sssure you'll be kweh fine. There'sss nothing to kweh really worry about." She was trying to cheer the midnight pup up, to make her feel better about this.
Ashe grinned, "Ha." She laughed softly, "I kweh sssuppossse you are kweh right." She nodded once, "I will kweh try when I feel I am kweh able to do ssso." She glanced away, sheepish, "Will...[k]weh will you help me if I kweh assk?" She asked, a bit afriad to do it by herself.

Fiara shook her head, "Nono, I am fine, it didn't hurt or anything, its fine." She stopped her nervous rubbing and curled her little paws into fists and gave a weak smile. Weakness and faults were one thing, burning yourself or burning someone else because you were always on fire was another. It was the lack of control that upset the young pup, her fiery father had never set fire to anyone or anything that he hadn't meant to, as far as she knew. "I worry because I don't want to hurt anyone..." she said softly.
"Of course I will help you." This idea perked Fiara a little, "You can always count on me," and she gave a genuine smile.

Ashe smiled back, "Well, if it'sss kweh an consssolation..." She began, unsure if she should continue, "We are kweh ssstill very young, ssso it isss quite kweh likely that we jussst don't kweh know everything about ourssselvesss at kweh thiss point." She grinned at her friend, "There'sss nothing kweh to worry about, you know."
She stopped abruptly, a large yawn encompassing her jaw and speaking ability. She turned crimson as it ended, "Apologiesss! I'm....kweh jussst a bit tired I kweh ssupposse...." She was embarrassed, especially over the fact that she had done such a thing while she had been comforting a friend. She was just...well, tired.

"Did - did I wake you?" Fiara thought back on her careless greeting, she was sure that it had been time for the snakey green numa to wake and hadn't thought a thing of it. "I'm the one who should apologize, not you."
Fiara settled back down onto the grass taking care to keep her right paw from Ashe and she thought about keeping the flame at its tiniest. "It makes me confused, not consoled." Fiara began head resting on one paw, "if there is anything I should know about, it is myself, I know I'm gonna grow and change but aren't there certain things that will remain constant?" The question was rhetorical, after the words left her mouth she knew that neither Ashe nor her fathers would really be able to answer that.
Yes, somethings would remain, the sun would always rise and set, the moon would always phase. And she would go on learning about herself and her friends as time when by.
Fiara flopped over on her side and stretched out long, maybe a nap would do her some good, give her a chance to clear her mind, if anything.

Ashe smiled, "No, no, it'sss kweh fine!" She waved a paw dismissively, "I ssshould not have kweh been sssleeping now anyway." A sheepish grin, "I kweh wassss up the entire night reading." She explained with a bit of chagrin, "Ssso it'sss kweh my own fault."
Ashe shrugged, "We cannot kweh know all there isss to kweh ourssselvess." She stated, waving a paw, "There isss kweh alwaysss myssstery to onessself kweh, sssomething that we mussst kweh learn." She smiled at the midnight pup, "And it isss kweh not like we are very old ssso there isss kweh no reassson for ussss to know all of our-kweh-ssselvesss yet, I'm sssure you'll kweh figure everything out in kweh due time." Ashe believed this was true for herself as well. Why would she want to live if she knew everything? Especially about herself? Oh, sure, it would be nice to know a great deal about her own body and mind, but she would always want to find out more about herself and even her friends. This was what made life interesting.
Ashe covered another jaw-wrenching yawn, embarrassed once again. She honestly couldn't help it, two hours of sleep was not something she could run on for long.

"All night, until morning? Then you should get some more rest, really!" She had rolled now and was on her back regarding her green friend upside down.
Staring up at the blue sky through the tree leaves Fiara listened, though she did not agree completely with everything Ashe said, it was food for thought if nothing else. She raised her paw into the air and focused on it, "Something we must learn." She repeated mulling over the words in her head.
I must find out what I can and can't do and soon, I'll need to test this fire of mine... The flame flickered in the light breeze, innocently Fiara made plans to revisit an old tree near the river. But not today. She lowered her paw and it curled on her chest, warmth flickered over her cool skin and her eyes drifted close. A nap seemed like a really good idea.

Ashe grinned sleepily at Fiara, "I know..." She mumbled, "But the book wasss kweh ssso good! I couldn't put it kweh down." She closed her eyes, still smiling, "Ssso I'm kweh paying for my foolissshnesss right now and I mussst ssstay awake to kweh keep you compnay..." She added, though indeed she was already drifting off.
She opened one eye with difficulty and looked at the midnight pup, "Uh-huh," She answered thickly, yawning again, "There isss kweh alwaysss sssomething we mussst kweh learn..." She smiled sleepily, closing the eye, "Ssssorry...if I....drift off..." She whispered apologetically, floating away toward the darkness of sleep already.

The dark pup drifted off to sleep, the day waned and the breezes blew gently through the candy cane trees. Her dreams were disturbed by flickers and smoke and she woke up just a few hours later wanting to talk to her father very much.
"See you again later Ashe, Coatl, and thanks." She spoke very softly before turning and padding off swiftly.
