"Yep." Writ said, wiggling his legs, making sure that his limbs weren't playing tricks on him.
"My name's Writ, what's yours?" He asked out of the blue.

"Crow." She replied back calmly before heading west. "Follow me."
Her long, scruffy, reddish-brown tail swayed behind her as her crimson wings tucked in on her back. Her hooves clonked on the ground softly as she took gentle steps in the right direction.
"Ever heard about the Game?"

" 'Crow'? Really? That's a cool name."
At the mention of the game, Writ suddenly kept his guard. Yes, he was being manipulated, again, but you couldn't be too careful.
"Ah..." He began to say.
Think!
"I'll answer you if you tell me why you have clogs on."
Thata boy.

Clogs?! Dear goodness, how thick could his skull be? Her hoof slammed down a little harder with the next step, but she glanced back at him calmly.
"First time they've been called clogs..." She said loftily.

It was dark.
"Well, they keep making that 'Clop' sound..." Writ reasoned, "What are they called then?"

Crow pondered for a moment if she should tell him or not. She stopped for a moment, being a few paces ahead allowed her to, and suddenly she turned to him.
"You tell me what's up with your ears, and I'll tell you why I go clomp-clomp."

And with that, Coyote stayed out of it. it was fun enough just watching from the stands.
"These?" Writ asked, stopping. He pointed at his ears, which in turn flicked back and forth, "They're my ears." He smiled, as if that explained everything.
"Your turn!"

Outdone by a nitwit! How cruel and unusual was that...
"Fine. I have hooves currently for feet. Now, you know of the Game, don't you?"
Crow never misses a beat with these sort of things. That, and she had currently more power than he, given she was the one walking him home.

"Really?" Writ walked closer and checked her feet. She was right. That was really freaky, why didn't he pick up on that sooner?
"Cooool." Yep. She was definitely part of the game.
"I do, and you do too." He answered.

That was easily settled without incident, another thing to be thankful about this dusky eve.
"Writ, was it? Why are you all the way out this far, anyway?" Crow questioned, she might as well try to start a normal conversation, it is rude to be so skeptical and people don't receive that well.

"Hmm..." Writ put a hand to his chin and thought.
"Well, I was playing with my friends, and then we left, and I guess I took a wrong turn or something, and now here I am."
That was the gist of it, truth was, Writ had always wanted to check out Borders, something just compelled him to go today, that, and he didn't want to do any homework. Kill two birds with one stone.

"That was some wrong turn..." Crow replied, but decided not to pursue as obviously that wasn't a topic he was overly keen on jabbering about. She'd find something to take his mind off things to make the trip seem faster, and also so he didn't remember which way she went when she guided him there.
No reason for him to know his way to the Borders, none at all. It was completely a rational thought in her head.

"You're telling me..."
The conversation died off for a while, about a block.
"What's it like?" Writ asked, "With those wings and hoove things?"

Crow half-turned her head back to him, and then returned to scanning the perimeters for signs of trouble. It took another half-a-block before she answered.
"Heavy at first." She started, thinking back to the incidents over the past two years. "The hooves just feel like heavy shoes and like you lost feeling in your toes. The wings on the other hand are something I'd be fine without. They're heavy, they're useless, and they're easily hurt." Crow suddenly shook her head, and glanced back at him. "A lot of people don't notice but my ears also point some, even when I'm not...this."

"Maybe your wings will grow and they won't be useless."
Writ's ears flicked back and forth again. Noone seemed to have a problem with them either. An elf would probably be able to hide in this city if there were any. Well, there were Godlings and all that, why not?
"How far are we from Middling?"
