"Poseidon," Fish grunted, and kept walking. Izanami, Poseidon told him, was not part of any alliance with him. In fact, they had never met. So, Fish shouldn't be talking to her for now and betraying valuable secrets.
He stopped and glanced back at her. "You found me. What're you gonna do now?"

Fish whirled around to face her, suddenly furious. She had no right to offer "How long have you been playing?" he asked fiercely. "Because if you'd been playing for any amount of time, you'd know you can't offer your allegiance. Only gods can offer allegiance. We're just playing. We're just their pawns."
Death? whispered Poseidon. He seemed like he was plotting something. I will look in to this Izanami figure.
Fish's expression softened somewhat. "It's nothing personal, it's just, you can't trust people if the god never makes it official." This was pure Fish, telling it like it was. "What do you know about this 'rotten life'?" he said bluntly. "You're a Rich."

“I have been playing the game just as long as you have, and this alliance would be more like a friendship,” said Maria as she took a step back in an attempt to clear her mind again “Sorry that the last question did not come out the way it was meant to.”
You forgot to think that last question through; you are on your own with this one.
“Yeah thanks for the help,” Maria thought to herself sarcastically.
“By the way I would love to be living this life again, I hate being rich. When my mother re-married we moved to the Uppers with her new husband and that is why I look like this,” Maria said as she tugged at the sleeve of the jacket and used the sleeved hand to cover her mouth as a couple of coughs escaped her. “I hate it that place is littered with Black-suits, it is like they are watching everything I do. And what’s even worse is everyone up there looks at me like I’m a monster including my step-dad, and…”
Suddenly, Maria leaned against the wall, and a string of horrible raspy coughs began, taking a couple of deep breaths in between each fit, “Sorry, about that,” she said as the coughing began to subside.

Fish frowned. She didn't have any outward mutations, though. Not like he did. And people didn't treat him like a monster. "Monster?" he echoed, watching her cough. Was she okay? Was this something her goddess made her do? Was it just a normal thing?
Whatever it was, it sounded terrible.
He backed up a little, as if to say, You're not contagious, are you?

“I’m fine, it’s not contagious,” Maria said as she stood back up and smiled a bit with a small laugh. “It is normal, my step-dad thinks it isn’t, but my mom and the doctor say its heredity. So I’m fine.”
Thinking twice Maria decided it was best not to show him her monster abilities because enough people already knew of her “magic” abilities, he could just ask around to her all the horrible rumors that had started.

Fish nodded, shifting his hands on the trident. The light filtering down had been lessening for a while now, and he felt he had to get home. "I'll think about your offer," he said, beginning to retreat again. "I need to go home. What's your name? I'm Fish."
He didn't offer to shake or anything. The coughing had made him kind of wary.

"Maria, but please call me MJ. And also, nice meeting you Fish," said Maria as she took a small bow. "I should be getting home too."

"Okay," nodded Fish. He turned and took off running. Within a few short moments, he had turned down a corner and vanished into the growing dark.
