I'd say Zuko!
But, Toph and Zuko haven't interacted as of yet. So, nyeah. No evidence and what not to work off of. Unless you wanna count Iroh liking them both, and acting as a sort of counsellor to both.
Reasons, though:
a) Zuko is a challenge, unlike Twinkletoes (to an extent) and Sokka the non-bender. He'd shout, and argue, and quip with her. That image in itself makes the whole pairing worthwhile.
b) Toph can push Zuko to do what he knows is right, but is too self-conscious to do. Like him being good, or him having those issues about 'betraying' the fire nation by helping the Avatar.
c) AGE DOESN'T MATTER. I've said this tons of times before, I shall say it again! My ex-stepmother and my father were 17 years apart in age. The only reason for their divorce was her getting into drugs. Since then, she's remarried multiple times, and has yet to settle down with a guy a guy as good as my dad. And yes, she has said that.
d) It's like a Frank and Marie relationship. Despite the argues and quips, they luuuuurve each other. XD I mean, can you see Zuko and Toph being touchy-feely-fluffy?

LOVE the tophXzuko!! i mean, it prolly wouldn't happen til after the war, but still! and no offense to taang ppl, but that's just an excuse to get rid of aang so zutara can happen.

I <3 Taang. Secong favorite A:TLA ship. Noooo... NOOOO... How could you betray me like this, Appuru-Pai?! Sniff. I know we'll never see eye-to-eye on this one. I still think that Sokka is better. I really do. I've seen examples of other Toph pairings. Read fanfics, seen fanart, read the arguments, tried to watch the episodes and warp my mind to see possibilities of the other relationships... I've tried to open my mind, and it just ain't working. We shall see when Season 3 rolls around. twisted (Oh god, I think I just jinxed it. I got this HORRIBLE feeling right after I typed that.) One of the maaaaain reasons that I dislike Taang, putting aside all other shippings and aesthetic arguments (they don't look right together! D:<), is because of the Katara factor. Ohyes. Okay, see, the only way I can ever see Taang working out is if Zutara DOES happen, and Aang isn't totally crushed into the ground, and DOES actually like Toph, and she likes him back. That seems incredibly unlikely TO ME, maybe not to you. See, how I see it working out (or would LIKE to see it work out) is that Aang grows a pair and isn't a p***y little boy, and matures enough to fit together well with Katara, Sokka and Toph get together, and Zuko and Mai get together. The only thing that I see wrong with these pairings is Katara. Goddamned Katara! Grr. Unless Katara likes him, IT ALL FALLS TO s**t. But, y'know, I'm still clinging on to The Cave of Two Lovers as proof that Katara likes him. I mean, sure, you can dismiss EVERY OTHER affectionate Katara moment as motherly love, but that one was nearly undeniable. I think the reason that Katara doesn't like him is because he IS still a little boy. I mean, he's 12. Not exactly mature. He may be the Avatar, but, in the words of Sokka, he's still a goofy kid. So, yeah, there are my Taang musings of the day. ><; Hey, Appuru, why don't you tell me your viewpoint on Taang? I'll listen, I promise. : ) (I DO try to be open-minded to new ideas.) EDIT: Also, I promise I won't yell and scream and flame you. ^^;; Just present my arguments in a civil, debating manner. No screaming. xD

Mm. This is the one of the only pairings that we don't see eye to eye on.
I don't really have a definite reason why I ship Taang, but I think part of my Taang -mania revolves around the Taang fandom. The only pairing I truly ship is Zutara, it is the only one that I look for when I watch episodes.
So, in actuality, the only one that I can really and truly argue/back up is Zutara. I ship Taang simply for the fact that I like how Aang and Toph interact in canon. I think it's funny, and it makes me giggle inside. Other than that, I think the pairing won't happen, and I will never be a hardcore shipper of it. >.<
Katara is the one which all -tara relationships hinge on, and with good reason. She is the only one who really disproves any pairings >.<
I don't know, but as a character, I dislike Aang. To me, his antics were put in by the creators for comic relief, but they just come off as obnoxious. I think they should stick to Sokka and his cactus juice for their comic relief.
I try to be open to new ideas on all ships. I consider Maiko now, and even though I don't particularly like it, I have decided that if Zutara falls, Maiko would be okay as an alternative. I only flame n00bs about pairings, which, I guess is redundant... but what the hell.

If they can't stand the heat, they should get out of the kitchen. xD Yeah, Aang pisses me off too. xD I thought it was just one of those things where I disliked ALL main characters, though. With very few exceptions, I hate the main character of a show or series or book or whatever. (Off the top of my head, the ones I don't hate, Vash from Trigun, Mal from Firefly... uhh... Ned from Ned's Declassified... Dunno. ><; ) My favourite characters are Toph, Mai, and Sokka. Zuko is kiiinda there. I mean, I think he's fascinating as a character, but as a person he pisses me off. As far as Taang... I dunno. You should point me out to some good Taang stuff. Maybe I've been looking in the wrong places. (Ooor maybe every time I see it, I start foaming and screaming in the name of Tokka. Either one. I TRY TO BE OPEN-MINDED. D: )
