But I do tend to choose the boyfriends that would die for me.

Yeah, that's what he said. But he wouldn't give up. I finally told him that he could hae a friend-with-benifits as long as I don't hear about it and he'd stop bugging me.
Yeah, I haven't really what I'd call "dating" since. I think it's because subconciously, I don't want to hurt anyone again. He was pretty broken up. He missed the next week of school.
I hate hurting people. It makes me feel sad. cry

Yeah. I dont want to hurt anyone either. But when I think about all my past relationships and how bad they were, I realize that I dont regret it. Even though I had bad times with them, I learned a lot. I learned what not to do without even doing it. XD
The relationships also helped me with learning about who I am and to not just look at the good side of things, but both the good and the bad.

Plus, the more relationships you have been in, the more you know what you would like in a husband.

he did it because he was dating my ex and we had stayed friends so he looked at me like competition, so he tried to make her hate me and run into his arms again.

I hate it when that happens. The person is so selfish and they don't realize that friends are important too. He needs to understand and love what he has instead of hurting her friends which in turn hurts her.

yah this was some time ago and hes getting what he deserves, in fact the people that have taken him in are getting sick and tired of him and are about to get rid of him.

SCARYTALE
... I just think generally if you were a good person, good things will happen, or at the very least if you try to be a good person...

I must just be very unfortunate then. It seems no matter how good of a person I try to be, it doesn't work out and I don't get much good return. I've had a difficult life.

Good things happen to bad people, and good people suffer terrible universal imbalance. Is it because the world is shifting? I know the poles are ready to switch places soon...

Quote:
If you purposefully do the wrong things, and act immorally, etc, then eventually something will catch up to you...

Perhaps I'm just cynical, but it doesn't seem to me like this is true. Bad things happen to "good" people, it would seem, more frequently than to people that actually deserve them--like the corporate men responsible for peddling products that are rapidly destroying the earth. They seem to get reborn into the same families with the same privaleges over and over, maybe because they don't believe in karma?

I'm of the mind that the only way to completely avoid the cycle of return is to completely ignore belief in it, like one would with an irritating sound or a child at the mall that's crying and doesn't belong to them or whatever. You reap what you sow, but only if you believe you will.

Bad things do not happen to good people. Karma is the only form of perfect justice. If something bad happens to a person it is because they deserved it. That is all. Just because you can't see the wisdom in Karma's decision that doesn't make it unfair. Not trying to be rude, sorry if it came across that way.

The saying "bad things happen to good people" is basically that some people believe that karma can continue on into the next life. So, if you did some bad things in a previous life, even if you do a lot of good in your current life, then bad things will happen to you, hence the "bad things happen to good people". Does that make sense?

It's really just a matter of how you look at karma and whether or not things can be carried on into your future lives.

Most of us pagans believe in Karma or the Three fold law. But do you think its possible for a person to avoid karma ,good or bad, for a period of time or for a single life time or longer?

I personally believe that it is possible to avoid Karma for either a short period of time or a single life time. You can run away for just a little bit and it will either catch you or you will stop to let it catch you. I also believe that Karma can not be avoided more than a single life time since the souls are evaluated to see weather they will be enlightened or how their life should be when they reincarnate.

I don't believe it can be avoided, really; as Witchboy stated (his was the first post after yours) it is something that can be rather subtle. A lot of the time, people don't realize that karma just got them; whether it was for good or for ill.

Personally, I try to stay away from ill-wishing, but every now and then, I get so mad at someone, I think something or say something nasty. I odn't intend it to come true, really; it's not like I sit there and cast baneful spells...

But, I can't help but blurt out things like, "I hope she gets a bit overweight, and see how she feels when someone makes fun of her in a bathing suit!"

(Yes, someone made fun of me the first time I ever wore a bikini. I'm not huge or anything, in fact, I just gained 20 lbs. recently, so I was a bit thinner then...but somehow, I was made fun of. Some of the people making fun of me with this particular skinny-a** girl were bigger than me, too! It would take two of me to fit into one of them, yet I never pick on someone for their weight...)

I know that karma will get me if I actually go out of my way to cast baneful spells, but in the case of the example I just gave, I think it would take it easy on me, and give them a taste of their own medicine. I suffer low self-esteem as it is, and what they said really hurt...though I'd never let them know. I didn't know them personally, but they said something that does affect me quite often; so naturally, I think karma would be kinder to me, despite me wishing them the same mental agony I live with.

I don't believe that, myself; I don't think karma carries on into the next life. After all, we're evaluated in Summer Land. If we did something, good or bad, and we didn't get it in the life we just left, it will be handed to us in Summer Land, and then in our next life, we learn what lessons we need to, and so on in every life, until we're done. Then we return to the Lord and Lady permanently.

But, that's my opinion.
