Caroline bids goodnight to Val and Lesh, and sits down next to the basket. She idles through it until she finds something -not- shiny or baubly. A beautiful carved wooden bracelet, polished so as to be glossy and smooth. She turns it in her hands for a while, her flesh warming the cool wood. She then stands and crosses to the enormous tree. She sets the bracelet on the ground beneath it and bobs her head in reverence. She then turns and goes back to sit by the fire.

Lesh returned Anezka to Varekai and put her down for a good night sleep. Walking back out, she flippe dher hair from her face and walked over to the fire. "Beautiful night, yes?" She looked over at Caroline and smiled.

"It's amazing," she agrees, turning her head to the stars. "It's so clear out here." She runs a hand through her mahogany hair.

"I hope the sky and air is as clear and fresh in our next destination as it is here..." She smiled, closing her eyes and breathing in deeply.

Before she went off into her wagon for the night, Em bid goodnight to both those who were returning to their caravan homes and to the gypsies who were headed for the fire, to glance at the stars. But even before then, she took a ring from the bottom of the basket, and buried it in the ground near the root of a great tree. It was a dull silver, and the stone was just a plain black onyx- but it was so intricate and beautiful in a simple, understated way- that it was the perfect offering. She was going to miss these woods- but it was time to leave.

Marissa then took it upon herself to slip her own hand into the basket. She sifted through the contents, silent. When her hand hit something large and cold, she pulled it out carefully. About the size of a baseball, it was a stone. It was amber, extremely commonplace about the woods. Marissa was surprised to find it in the basket- it was so gorgeous! The fire's hearty twinkle accentuated it's orange, yellow, and brown make-up, causing it to dance merrily. Suddenly struck with great sadness, she had to glance away. Looking about, she caught the sillouette of a rotted tree trunk near her. Standing and walking to it quietly, she knelt beside it.
There in the dark, beyond the other gypsies, she said a small prayer. She thanked the forest for it's safehaven and it's kindness to her people. She took the ball of amber and placed it deep within the trunk's decomposed center, until is was barely visible. If her calculations were correct, this trunk was facing due east, and when the sun rose, the amber would become alight with it's warmth. She smiled.
Slowly she pulled away her hand. As she did so, her knuckles brushed against something cole which she hadn't noticed before. Curious, she took hold of it and pulled. Accompanied by the soft, dull sound of crumbling wood, she extracted a bell.
Aryel straightened and cocked her head at the trinket.
"Find the bell of the fox, and the fox can call it's friends..." she cawed softly.
Confused, Marissa glanced at the Banya on her shoulder. The bell of the fox...? She looked at what she had found for a moment and pulled it close to her. They were not the first gypsies to pass Sheulan. There had been others. Standing, and without a word to the others, Marissa whistled Kale to follow her and moved swiftly back to PhoenixSong. She would hang the bell on the porch.

Silver watched as each took something from the basket and finally stood to offer her own item to the forest. Aisrhan was still clinging to her as she approached the tree Val had pointed out. She silently untied one of the green ribbons from Aisrhan's hair and fastened the leaf pin to one end. Ais giggled with approval and Silver smiled at her before tying the ribbon to one of the tree's lower branches, just within reach above her head. She bowed her head in reverence and then looked up to appreciate the stars as Leshya'e and Caroline had done. She would miss this place. Silver walked back to the fire and remained there, holding Aisrhan and thinking about anything and everything long after everyone else had gone to bed and the fire had started to die down. She piled dirt onto the embers and made sure the fire was out. Aisrhan nodded sleepily against her shoulder as Silver finally walked back to the wagon to get some sleep.

Caroline watches Silver put out the fire. She feels a cool breeze wash over her as soon as the flames die down. The heat is no longer pressing in on her. As much as Caroline loves a fire...she's made for the cold. She closes her eyes and basks in the swirling warmth of the remnants of the fire and the cool of the night air. She inhales deeply, smelling smoke and earth and trees. She opens her eyes, longing for the crisp clearness of the mountains. Perhaps they'd travel through some on their journey.
Caroline casts a glance back at her wagon, wondering how her little Rojiza would fare if they did.

Maeko-Hana ( You killed my fire!!! gonk ) (( >.< sorry, sorry. Well, I did say it was long after everyone had gone to bed... ninja *opens a hole in the time-space continuum* Here, just post before I put out the fire! *shoves Maeko through the rift* whee gee... I hope I didn't send her to the wrong place... ^^;; ))

The sun is just starting to peak up as it is now morning. Val was out on her daily routine to collect dew to wash her face. She never missed her daily gypsy beauty tricks and the morning dew tightened her face so well making her appear much younger than she acutally was. But it her age has always been a silent mystery to the caravan.
The new day felt fresh as new energies swirled the caravan to an early start. Val took one last look around the campsite, cleaning anything up that needed to be cleaned. It was fairly barren except for the wagons and obvious that someone had camped there recently.
She went to knock on anyone's door who wasn't awake. "TIME TO GET MOVING!" She said LOUDLY.

Caroline, who had stayed up way too late the night before, is roused by Valelldia's knocking and calling. She rolls out of bed and tries to do something with her hair, which she'd forgotten to brush the night before. She calls out sleepily, "I'm awake!" followed by some dark Hispanic muttering. Rojiza, of course, is already awake and scuttling around the cabin, chattering happily with the energy of a new day. Outside, Caroline can hear Cornelius munching on...something. She sighs and hopes it isn't anything vital to herself or anyone else.
She opens the door to Mountain Air, letting the moist morning breeze float in. Caroline smiles in spite of her groggy state and continues to wake on her hair, nodding to any gypsy that passes by her open door.
