Oh. She had to go before it got dark. His lips peeled back in a sneer before he could stop them, ears pinned flat against his head.
She had to go home, to mommy. Where someone would feed her, and keep her warm, and love her -- !
Don't be an idiot. He admonished himself. It isn't her fault she'd spoiled. Still, his heartbeat sounded in his ears like a drum as he fought to control himself. He didn't need anyone! He would be strong, could take care of himself.
But he couldn't resist throwing one barb back at her. "Lions are nice, huh?" He laughed mirthlessly. "I'm sure the one I met was just having an off day when he decided to destroy my leg."

"Destroy your leg?", she questioned at once. "What do you mean? What happened? Why would a lion hurt you at all?"
What was he talking about? A lion had hurt him? But.. Lions were nice, except the one her mother was friends with. She was just mean.. And very, very weird. Still though, why would a lion attack and purposely hurt a hyena pup?
"Neus.. Wait.. Please explain to me what happened. I know you're leg is hurt, as I can see it when you walk. Why would a lion do that to you though? I just.. I don't get it."
Her paws stopped dead in their tracks and her grey ears fell to the side of her head. Her silver eyes looked at the ground, upset at herself for making this male pup thrash out like he did. She didn't mean to upset him.. Honestly. She only wanted to be friends.. And now, it looked like that chance was just blown by her stupid words.
"I'm sorry...", she whimpered quietly.

"Gods, just stop whining already!"
The harsh words burst out of his mouth before he could stop them. But really, all she seemed to do was cry! Always saying sorry, always pleading, begging. He huffed to himself for a moment, then spoke grudgingly into the silence.
"Just... stop saying sorry all the time, okay?" He really didn't care that much if she was sorry anyways.
"Hell if I know why the lion wanted to hurt me." Neus shrugged one shoulder and continued forwards. What did it matter, anyways? It had happened, he couldn't make it un-happen. "Sure wasn't an accident either, if that's what you're thinking. The stupid git had already ripped up a wild dog before I got there."

Kai instantly shut up, her silver eyes just looking at Neus. She was beginning to be afraid of him, as he always seemed to yell and curse. Maybe he was just grumpy or something. She didn't know. One thing she did know though was that she didn't like to be yelled at. It scared her, horribly.
"Alright....", she managed to get out, her tail in between her back legs once more. Her ears stayed flat by her head and she merely looked around now. Maybe this place wasn't the place for her after all. Or maybe she had just gotten here at the wrong time and met the wrong hyena. Who knew.
Right now though, fear and anger were building up inside of her, both aimed at the hyena pup in front of her. She wanted to tell him how she felt, but it just seemed like he'd yell at her again for it, which is what scared how. What a damn blasted time she was having.

"Gods." Neus rolled his eyes and sighed. "It's not like it's a huge deal or anything, girl. I warned you earlier - I'm not like you." The pup grinned, but the smile didn't warm his expression in the least.
"You wanted to find out what I was like? Here you go."
Seriously. What did she expect? Not everyone had an easy life - some hyenas actually had to WORK for what they got. Some just worked, and didn't get anything. His own grey-green eyes met hers for a moment, then he jerked forwards and continued on his chosen path.
"You coming, or not?"
He hoped it was the latter.

At first, Kai really wanted to go with him. She wanted to learn more about him and everything, but the more he rambled on, the more she had decided that maybe going home was just best. After all, the two of them would both be happy.
So, just looking at the pup, she shook her head some, smiling a small bit. "No, it's alright. I guess I'll head on home for now. This place is weird.. And to join it.. I need more time to think about it. Thank you though, Neus. You've helped me out quite a bit."
