Though she was still crying, the tears were started to slow and the sobs were starting to decrease; whatever the negatives, there was a great to be said about the benefits of a good cry.
But right now, Saiena was in no mood to appreciate them. Lifting her head and sniffling a little bit, she gave the colt an absolutely furious look. "IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!"
And it was! "All your FAULT!" And then she was crying again, just as hard as before.

His fault? HIS fault? How was it his fault? "AH DIDN'T DO NOFIN!" He huffed at her and stomped one hoof against the ground. Nothing was his fault since he hadn't done anything.
She'd been all adamant that it was her fault that she'd tripped so that wasn't his fault anymore so she couldn't be crying about that.

"You're a strange stallion!" Though muffled, the words were clear and very accusatory; however, they probably didn't make much sense to Sedi.
They made a great deal of Saiena, however, and at the moment there was virtually nothing worse she could have said to him. The significance of that statement was overwhelming, after all!

"Ah not strange! I Sedi." What in the world was she thinking saying he was strange? He wasn't the one in the dirty crying for nothing. He was being perfectly normal and she was the strange one.
Wait. Maybe that was what Dah had told his sister. Not talking to others. "OHH!!! ... ah don think yer Dah'd get mad 'bout ya talkin ta me. Ah not stallion anyway."

"You are too! You're a boy, boys are stallions, and I don't KNOW you, so you're strange. And Papa TOLD me not to talk to strange stallions, an' you came along an' got in my way an' I talked to you an' now I'm NEVER gonna be allowed to play by myself ever again!"
There, she'd said it; the whole, terrible, sad story. And if he didn't feel bad now, than he was a VERY mean boy! Even meaner than a kalona!

"My Dah's a stallion. I ain't yet!" You had to be older to be a stallion. If he was a stallion then he wouldn't have to worry about doing what his Dah said because he would already know and he'd be better than his Dah.
"If yer Dah don't find out then how ya gonna get in trouble? I mean if ya don't tell 'em then he don't have ta know"

What did THAT mean? All boys were stallions, weren't they? She was completely bewildered now, and with good reason. Up until this very meeting, she'd actually never met another foal; her acquaintances were all adults; her father and her father's herdmates, to be specific. And the boys were all stallions! It had never come up that there was an age requirement...
However, Sedi's next comment wiped all of those thoughts from her mind, and she stared at him with unmasked shock. "You would LIE to your own Papa??" The idea was absolutely scandalous!

"Well not reallah ... but if he didn't really ask and ah knew it'd get me in troubal then ah'd just not tell'em." He nodded. That wasn't lieing. That was just not saying things you hadn't been asked about.
"But if her Dah asked if ya met anyone then ya'd 'ave ta tell'em. But Ahm not a stallion so it don't mattar"

Now he was just talking nonsense, and Saiena's voice was heavy with exasperation when she responded. "But you ARE a stallion, Sedi; boys are stallions, and you're a boy. I can SEE that you're a boy. So I dunna what you're tryin' to do with this arguement."
Though...really, if Papa didn't ask her if she'd talked to one...well, then she really WASN'T lying, was she? She'd never ever thought about that!

"AH is not! Not old enough." He stamped one foot against the dirt again. "Will be soon though then ya can call me ah strange stallion." His Dah still called him a foal so he wasn't a stallion yet.

Old enough? "What does THAT mean? Does that mean that you have to be OLD to be a stallion?" If that was the case, then why hadn't her Papa told her that? It seemed awfully unfair to warn her against talking to someone, then not tell her who that someone even WAS!
Still sniffling a bit, she blinked at Sedi, trying to figure out if he was telling the truth or not. Though she didn't really know why he WOULD lie. Darn it, he was conFUSING!

"Ya gotta be an adult before yer a stallion. Ah not big 'nough yet." He shook himself and puffed up. "Ah still got growin ta do befer Ah a proper stallion like my Dah"
He was almost there. He just had a bit more to grow until he'd be as big as hs Dah or bigger then he'd get to prove that he was just as good.

She could hear Sedi's loud mouth from deep in the forest where she'd been thinking... And then she heard another voice. Another voice! HA! She could catch Sedi doing something that he wasn't supposed to be doing... And she could get him in trouble for once.
She raced towards the sound of the voices, breaking through the leaves with a great, loud rustle. "Ah gotcha this time!" She cried out triumphantly. "Y'ain't supposed ta be talkin' ta strangers, Sedi."

So...you had to be an adult...before you counted as a stallion? Did that work for mares, too? She'd always thought she was a mare, because she was a girl like Elizabeth and Fortune and THEY were mares, but they were adults..
Did that mean she wasn't? Or was it different for girls? This was so conFUSING!
Saiena was staring at Sedi, mulling over the amazing bit of information she'd just been given when the loud voice of another, coming unexpectedly as it did, caused her to nearly jump out of her skin. Where had the new one come from?
Still wide-eyed, she took in the sight of the new Soquili, a girl, just like her; but she had bright colors, and a card on her just like Sedi did, and she knew his name...OH!
Looking back at Sedi, she gave him a surprised look. "You've got a SISTER, Sedi? That's so, SOOOOOO lucky!" And with that, all traces of sadness were gone, replaced by an excited grin. "I ALWAYS wanted to have a sister, but it's just me. Just me an' Papa, anyway, and Papa's fun but he ALSO can be strict an' it's not the same, an' HI!"
The greeting was directed at the new arrival, as Saiena belated realized that she was ignoring her. And ignoring was RUDE. "I'm Saiena, an' I'm NOT a stranger." Which she wasn't; they now knew each other's name!

He hung his head slightly when he heard his sisters voice. "Atsila! .. yer not supposta be 'ere" She was suppose to stay at home right? After all that stuff about talking to strange stallions Dah should have made her stay home. Why did she have to follow him?
"And she ain't a strangah, Ah know'er name." When his new friend started to babble about siblings he shook his head again. "Ah got a brothra too .... e's fun. 'Sila's a pain cause sha neva listens"
