Her throat released a small whine, high pitched and wailing as her brother stopped a little distance from her. Vashti felt stupid now, and her ears laid flat against her head, bottom sinking to the ground, tail tucked between her hind legs. She nodded an ascent to his question and her small frame shivered a little. She lowered onto her stomach and slunk towards him, tail low to the ground. She wanted confirmation that her silly tumble hadn't ruined their game, and the only way she could think to show she was sorry was to make herself smaller then him and demand acceptance of her unspoken apology. She rolled onto her side and stretched out her forepaws, placing one as close to his paws as she could reach and whined again, the same, high-pitched waver from the back of her throat.
"I sorry Dax..." She murmured, rolling back onto her front and looking up at him from her laying position. "I didn't mean to be stupid and fall over!" She whined low, the litter filled ear twitching involuntary to remove the dust and muck. Her large green eyes looked up at her brother imploringly, as though she had ruined everything and would totally understand if he thought her foolish and didn't want to play. Her tail thumped on the ground a few times in hopeful expectation. "Can we still play?" She asked, raising her head a little from the ground, imploring her brother.

Dax bit his lower lip as his ears fell against his skull. For his own sister, his own flesh and blood, to show submission to him made him feel terrible. Why did she have to show fear and feel as if she needed to lower herself to him? As Vashti stretched out her forepaw and pressed it against his own paw, Dax let a warm, tender smile draw up upon his maw as a small whine sounded from his throat.
"You don't have to be sorry," he spoke, lowering his head and nuzzling against her breifly, "and you're not stupid. You didn't ruin the game- it was that dumb bird that got in the way."
His tail swayed behind him as he rose to his paws, eyes leveling with those of his sister as a grin tucked itself at the corner of his maw. Although sometimes Dax wasn't the easiest to get alone with, he tried to make an effort as best he could reguardless of his ill feelings and the darkness that abided within the depths of his mind. The ebony and white swirled pup loved his family dearly and woud even put his life on the line for them! Oh, but if only they knew and if only he could show them.
Perhaps they would better understand him.
A small laugh came forth as he nipped at her ear and licked her maw. " 'course we can. Now, you go hide and I'll find you," he replied, a calm and serene tone to his voice as he turned around and waited for her to find her new hiding spot.

Vashti nearly leapt completely off the ground when he accepted her apology and told her not to be so silly in thinking she had messed up. She licked his muzzle joyfully and accepted his nuzzle, returning it with frantic motions of her own, nudging her head into his chest and tail wagging crazily in happiness, before she nodded at him, tongue lolling out the side of her mouth after licking his muzzle and she jumped up out of her seated position and went hairing off into the tree cover to the right of their den. She kept her mind focused this time, using her concentration to stop the mad wagging of her tail and to still it to only a gentle, guiding wave every now and then.
As she leapt over the brow of a small molehill, Vashti glanced around for a hiding place. Ahead of her was a large oak tree and as she neared, she found an old rabbit hole winding into the roots of the grand tree. Sniffing around, she backed into it, her colours making her blend into the darkness of the hole quite easily. Her green eyes glowed in the sunlight that filtered in, so she snuggled herself further in, ears perked foreward as she listened for her brother's approach, maw spread wide in a panting grin. She was thoroughly enjoying herself, she hadn't had so much fun with Dax ever, and she revelled in the fun such simple, puppy-ish games could afford them. Sure, she was more of a puppy that Dax ever was, as if making up for his more mature nature, she was determined to leave each month as it was, nothing more. She had no interest in the future, not yet anyway, and to her, everyday was the best day! But she knew, deep down, she would treasure this memory most closely, as she would every memory of her games with siblings.
While she awaited her hunter, Vashti wondered what had happened to Eiros. Had he been defeated by their father, or not realised that his siblings had snuck out for a few extra games? That was more likely! You could loose track of time playing with their father. Jaxom was such a good father, and Vashti had heard comments that she resembled him most in personality, if not her general outlook on life. She wasn't too sure what her outlook was, not even sure she knew what was meant by that, but she was pleased nonetheless. She was a daddy's pup, pure and simple, and she loved his company. Yet, Vashti knew, if given the chance, she would attach herself to any company she could! She was trusting of all wolves, whether she knew them or not. Why would anyone want to hurt her? Her family didn't, and they were wolves, so why were others any different? She knew her outlook would probably change as she met new wolves, gathered new experiences, but for now, she was happy believing everyone liked her.
Shifting foreward a little, head low, Vashti peered out of her hiding hole. Where had Dax gone too? Surely she hadn't found the ultimate hiding spot!

A warm smile kept itself upon his jet black maw as his sister's reaction was expected yet as she licked him and nudged against him with her upmost glee, Dax swayed his tail non-chalantly and began to count. "Ten, nine, eight, seven-" As he counted, the thought and stir of the strange emotions within him seemed to ovetake his heart and his feelings.
The darkness certainly was something that was consuming him slowly and that wa something he knew. But everyday was a battle, his heart was becoming a battle ground in trying to keep the light within from fading and falling victim to the voices and the plauging darkness within him. Everyday was a struggle- a struggle to keep himself out of harming others and from keeping others from harming him. Alienating himself and keeping a safe distance from others seemed to work as a stratagey in making sure that he wouldn't lose his families love and support but such a concept was bitter-sweet as he was realizing that he was missing out on fun and adventures!
Playing games won't divert you from becoming what you are destined to become, the voice mocked within his mind.
"It's better than listening to you."
Look at yourself! Submitting and playing childish games! You're pathetic! And your potential sits and consumes you until the day comes where you will shatter- where you will divide wholley into both light and dark. That will be the day where your light will be consumed and the darkness will give you the ultimate power which you crave. Deep down, you have a desire for such destruction- such bloodshed, don't you?
"....."
I know what you want and what you are, Dax. We are one. You can only run for so long until I catch up with you.
His fur bristled as he shook his head, ignoring the voice and continuing with the countdown. "Six, five, four, three, two, one- ready or not here I come, Vashti!"
You will fall to the darkness, the voice hissed as, once again, it sunk back into the depths of his mind.
Deafly padding about as he stalked through the vegetations and the brush, Dax's nose lifted into the air and caught a faint wafting scent. Rather than let the tormenting voice plauge his mind, Dax was trying to get a lead on his sisters trail and try and find her. He knew too well that her colors, much like Jaxoms, were keen on being able to blend in with the shrubs and brush that was scattered the outside area of the den. But, this time, he found it harder to find her!
Where had Vashti gone?
"She's gettin' better," he commented softly, his white banded tail swaying curiously as he lowered his muzzle to the ground and sought out her scent.

Vashti stiffled a giggle as a shadow passed by her hiding place, lifting her paws to her muzzle and physically holding in the giggle she so desperately wanted to release as she heard the murmurings of her brother not far away. Her large ears were pressed to the top of the burrow, and they twitched occassionally, working out from his mutterings and his steps were he was outside. She wanted to sneak closer to the mouth of the burrow, to see if she could spot him without him spotting her, but her bravery shied when she started to use her claws to drag her closer, and instead, she shuffled deeper into the burrow.
Dax's scent seemed to permeate her hiding place, and she stiffled all sounds she could make that he would hear. Her heart sounded loud in the little space, and she deepened her breathing so it was less likely for him to realise she was below ground in the burrow mouth. Her green eyes darted around the opening of the hole, looking at the green world outside, expecting at any moment to see a flash of black and white as he found her and dragged her out of the hole giggling and squealing. The mental image of the act of him dragging her out made her unexpectantly giggle aloud, and she slammed her forepaws over her muzzle so quickly, she caused some of the earth of the burrow to filter down from the ceiling. She closed her eyes against the offending articles, and it started to make her nose itch.
"Oh no..." She muttered around her paws as the need to sneeze grew and grew. "Not no--" The sneeze was so stiffled, it caused her body to expand suddenly and the expansion forced the air out more violently then it would have been, and so the loud snort of her sneeze rang out from the hole. She looked around the mouth of the hole. Had he heard? Where was Dax? Surely he was going to pounce on her any moment!

His brows furrowed as he wrinkled his muzzle in thought, paws swiping at the vegetation and brush only to find that his muddy-brown hued sister must have found an exceptional hiding spot this time. Pacing aroudn the small clearing and attempt after attempt of coming out empty handed and with little success, Dax snorted and let his ears fall against his skull.
"Com'on, where is she?" He moaned, romping about with little patience as his banded tail swept wildly behind him while he pressed onwards with the search.
Still being unsuccessful, Dax plopped himself down upon his haunches underneath the shade of the great oak to rest a bit before venturing up on all paws and continuing his search. But just as he sat down, a small giggle seemed to break the silence. Instantly the ebony and white swirled male bounded up onto his paws, eyes darting about and searching for the mischevious brown hued female. Lifting his muzzle into the air as he drew a deep breath, a smile curled upon his maw.
Vashti was close, too close.
"Vashti..." he called out, a long-drawn out call with a soft tone as he swatted at the brush around him and found a new sense of hope that he would finally find her.
But before he began to stray away from the oak tree, an unexpected and loud sneeze seemed to break the silence once again and echo from- the tree? Pivoting backwards and lunging at the brush that shielded the base of the tree, Dax stumbled slightly and toppled onto his stomach. Opening his eyes as a soft moan escaped from his maw, Dax found himself to stare into the darkness of a small hole within its base as well as into the emerald orbs of her sister.
"Found you," he whispered, a smile curling upon his maw.

Vashti couldn't help be release the lauhter that had welled in her throat when she had heard Dax pounce at the brush just ahead of her hiding place. The sight of his head stuck down her hiding hole caused her to loose all inhibition and laugh, just imagining what it must look like from outside. She scrambled up the burrow and licked the unprotected face of her brother, right between the eyes, a pleased look on her features, her teeth gleaming a little in the small amount of light that filtered in past Dax's mantle.
"Well well! The hunter is stuck! What to do, what to do!" She made a big show of contemplating, before grinning wickedly and placing her forepaws either side of Dax's head, on what little could be seen of his shoulders and shoved up with her hindpaws, popping her brother and herself out of the hole, with her landing on top of the black and white swirled pup. She looked down at him with an innocent, apologetic smile, quickly licking the end of his nose in apology and scrambling off, slinking to the side to sit were her ears perked but head lowered, looking at him with raised eyes as she grinned sheepishly. "Sorry, thought that was a good idea at the time." She giggled a little and scuffed the mud at her paws a little.
"Is it your turn to hide now?" She asked, tail thumping slowly against the raised root of the great oak. Her ears perked higher, and she raised her head a little at the prospect at more play.

Dax had tried to dislodge his head from the hole but, unfortunately, he couldn't do it by himself. As Vashti scrambled towards him and licked him between the eyes, he gritted his teeth as it was impossible and futile to shield himself from her licks. A slight whine came from his maw as he tried to loosen himeslf but still found it more than impossible.
"It's not my fault!" He moaned, struggling to wriggle out of the situation he had put himself in. Oblivious to what was going on, Dax growled softly as he continued to struggle. "Stupid tree!"
Without realizing that his sister placed her forepaws upon each side of his head and suddenly shoved at him, Dax stumbled backwards several steps and fell upon his back as a flurry of leaves and dirt was kicked up. Dazed for a few moments but being brought back to reality as the muddy-brown hued pup could be seen above him, smiling with an apologetic approach and suddenly licking his nose, the ebony and white swirled wolf tried to stagger up to all fours.
Shaking his head and his fur free from the dirt and crushed leaves, Dax frowned slightly but shook his head. "It's- it's okay. You don't have to be sorry, Vashti."
His ears perked upwards suddenly as he tilted his head? It was his turn to hide? Dax furrowed his brows as his tail thumped once behind him, a bit hesitant and unsure. "Do you want me to hide so you can find me?"
Maybe she was tired and didn't want to play anymore. Or perhaps Vashti wanted another turn?
Dax wasn't sure about this.

Vashti rolled her eyes playfully at her brother and shook her head, tail wagging. She smiled at him, love evident in her face as he told her it was all ok. That was all she ever really wanted, confirmation that was was doing well by her family members. Sure, she probably wouldn't change her opinion on licking everyone, because she enjoyed it as much as she knew everyone else secretly did, if not more! She touched her nose to his in a friendly manner before her tail started to wag more with his next words. What did he mean a hiding place where she could find him! Where was the fun in that?! She nipped him playfully with a coy look and grined at him.
"No no no, Dax! Off you go, go hide in a good hidey hole!" She reached foreward and gently took a lodged twig in her teeth and pulled it from Dax's fur, spitting it out before turning her back on him, lying on her belly and covering her eyes with her forepaws, voice ringing out with her glee at more games. "Ooone!" She peered out from her paws to see him still sat there. "Go on go on! I'll get you otherwise!" She covered her eye again with a cheeky grin and called out, "Twwwwooo!"

His ears pinned against his head as Vashti pressed her nose against his, watching as she wagged her tail and, before he knew it, nipped at him with a sly grin plastered upon his maw. The black and white swirled male wrinkled his nose as he snorted a short breath through his nostrils and stammered off a few paces only to turn back around.
"But Vashti! Maybe you should-" he was cut off as she slunk down upon her belly and flopped her paws over her eyes and began to count. Gritting his teeth together and realizing that he wasn't going to get out of this as easily as he had hoped, Dax shook his head as she shoo'ed him elsewhere to find a hiding spot.
"Fine!" He growled low, crouching down low as he bounded off in great strides.
Icy, blue orbs frantically searched for a decent hiding place but, to Dax, it seemed impossible! Why? Why did this have to be so difficult! Coming across the thick shadows where the vegetation clumed and distorted whatever it concealed along with the shadows, a sly grin curled upon his maw. If anything- the shadows would conceal his appearance and the vegetation could at least shroud his white swirls. It was times like these where he wished that his pelt was just as black as a moonless night and had no white swirls but that was not the case. Glancing back to where Vashti laid and continued counting, Dax deafly crept into the shadows and shrubs and sunk low onto his stomach.
"She won't find me," he snickered, keeping himself low to the ground and encased within the perfect hiding spot.

"Seeeeven..."
Her soft voice called out as she heard her brother bound away. Good, he had listened! She snuck a peek from under her paws, but he wasn't within spying distance, so she covered it again, extenuating the number eight as she sped up her counting. She liked this game! It would make her hunting skills better, and at the moment, she was just enjoying Dax's acceptance and presence... though at that moment there was no sight of him!
"Ten! Ready or not Dax, here I come!" She shouted and shot to her feet, pressing her nose to the ground where Dax had just been sat, scenting him and making sure the scent was catagorised before setting off slowly, tail wagging, nose sniffing as she followed the scent. Her eyes were narrowed as she walked, her head weaving from side to side to keep track of Dax's scent. She took her steps carefully, her tail still wagging from side to side as she followed the line of bushes that the scent ran past, then turned and followed it back when it disappeared. She repeated the same stretch a few times, before looking up with frowning eyes. Where was he?

"Ooomph...daaaaad...that tickles!" Eiros laughed and squirmed, shadow-grey tail thumping against the ground as his paws flailed at his father. "No fair, you're biiiiiggerrrr! Lemme up lemme up!" He nipped at Jaxom's muzzle playfully, bright blue eyes gleaming with excitement.
A light laugh echoed in the air as Faile stood at the entrance of the den, jade eyes warm and happy. "Cut it out, you two," she said in a teasing tone, walking to her mate and nipping lovingly at his ears and muzzle. She spared a nuzzle for her son as well, but Jaxom was and would always be the light of her life.
Even so, she hoped that her pups would stay with her and her mate...at least in the pack, even if they had families of their own. She'd caught glimpses of Dax's turbulent mind, but shrugged it off as motherly worries. Nothing could be wrong with her children...right?

The shadow and white swirled pup slinked deeper into the shadows, blending within the darkness and evading his sisters sight as he could vaugely see her searching out his scent, padding back and forth and finding it almost futile as to decipher which way he went. A grin curled upon his maw as his body motioned little- muscles staying taunt and still as his head rested upon his forepaws.
Dax must have confused her! This was certainly a rare feat!
Staying silent and waiting, the pup sat there for when he would be found, or rather, if he would be found.
~~~~
Jaxom chuckled as he kept his son in a good hold, pawing and rustling the top of his head withi his right forepaw. "Oh- did I find a weak spot?" He rumbled with a burst of laughter as Eiros began to n** at his maw. "You're smaller- you can move around faster!"
Loosening his grip and rising to his paws, Jaxom seemed to melt and sink onto his haunches as his mate lovingly nipped at his ears and at his muzzle. A seizing of pink seemed to flush upon his cheeks as he narrowed his eyes towards his mate and rumbled with deep affection.
"Oh- we can't end the fun so soon, love! It's just begun!"
Glancing back to where Eiros was positioned, Jaxom slunk forwards upon his forepaws and playfully growled.
"Ready?"
