My first ride ever was a trail ride at Girl Scout camp, and I don't remember it that well. My first lesson was on an Arabian named Adventure. I kicked too hard to ask for the trot so he cantered and I hadn't done that before, so I fell off. I got right back on, but they had to change me to a different horse after that. I was sscared when he was cantering, but I didn't want to change horses because I knew what I'd done wrong.

My first lesson was fun. I rode on Pepper, the resident Appaloosa gelding, I do think so. He was a bit of a slacker, but was perfect for me at the time. Although, when I went for lessons, in the arena, the sun hit this one spot at the back of the arena, and when I went to do a circle with Pepper, he just stood there and bathed in the sun. My Instructor, Christina, had to come over and give the Hand crop. (It's a crop with a hand on the end) Pepper happily took the crop from Christina, and started waving it about in his mouth. Best. Lesson. Ever.

My first lesson was when I was in 7th grade. I rode an old dark brown gelding named Blaze. I'm not really sure what breed he was, I think he was part quarter horse and part some draft breed. The whole lesson I kept wanting to gallop, and when my teacher wasn't looking, I would trot a little ninja . My first ride ever was when I was in 4th grade and my family went to a ranch for a few days one summer. They had free trail rides, so we went every day. The first day I rode a Palomino gelding named Magnolia who went really slow. My mom was riding behind me and we were going down a hill, when all of a sudden, my horse sped up and I was all like "Yay! Now we get to go fast!". Then I heard my mom yell, "OMG, He bit him!!". Turns out, her horse had decided that mine was going to slow and reached out and bit him in the butt. rofl The second day, I rode a bay quarter horse named Caramel who was a little faster than the first one. Well, I got tired of going slow, so I trotted past everyone and rode at the front untill the trail boss told me to go back to my spot. whee

My first lesson, I'd just turned five. I'd been on trail rides before that. Anyway, I rode an arabian mare named demiyah, she was great, a gorgeous semiretired show horse. I was able to ride walk trot and canter that first time. My first lesson was on a bare back pad and an english saddle, but that trainer used to have me use a saddle that looked just like the ones on those mechanical pony rides they have at grocery stores when i rode western, i was so small it was the only thing she could find to fit me (I have a picture from then with me holding a bridle, and the bit is on the floor with the top of the headstall as high as i could get it over my head, lol!)

i remember the first time that i rode a horse...it was at a trail riding club...
his name was buck...and he was rightly named...
i got up on him and put my hand on his rear end to right myself...thats when the trouble started...lol...some one forgot to tell me not to touch his rear end...he started bucking and whineing and tryng to get lose...as soon as the guide saw what was going on he came over grabed buck and stoped him and then said 'you touched his rear didn't you?'....and i responed by saying 'can i get off now?'...he told me no and that buck was a great horse for a first time rider...but not to touch his rear again...
i laugh about it now...every thing turned out good in the end...i had a great ride and then begged my mom to get me my own horse and she did...now i'm hooked...lol...

The first horse I rode was called Fudge. She's an exmoor pony and a dun colour. She was really sweet and I was lead around a park. My siblings were with me and I had loads of fun. I was seven at the time.

My first horse riding lesson happened on a cool, but not cold, Saturday morning on a horse named Lady.
She was understanding of my problems, sliding all over the seat, and fear of speeds other than the walk. Lady was a chestnut quarter horse, and a good lesson horse.

wow, this was so long ago.... I was tossed up on an old, old mare who had come to despise children with a deep burning hatred, and told to "go for it." I've been hooked ever since. xp

All I remember was being in first grade and my sister had a soccer game that we went to after. The horse I rode was huge but really old. His name was Chauncy he was an appolosa. He was half blind at the time and now he is fully blind. It's sad actually.

I was in about fourth grade. smile I rode a little old Arabian named Spirit. He's probrobly one of the ones with the bounciest trot in the whole stables. Maybe because he was short? I don't know. Most short horses that I've ridden were bouncy. At least they're easy to get on. eek All we did was walk and trot in a circle, but it was still fun. biggrin
