Nick lifted his arm to take the glass only the see a wing in it’s place.

“s**t”

He fumbled for a bit, trying grab the glass without any fingers. In the end he gulped the pills down and dipped his beak in the water. ”I hope this helps”

“T-thahnks” He said, still clearly shaken, he knelt down on the bed, examining his now pure white body. ”Oh god, no one would recognize me now”

“I look ahwful dun’t I?” He said, noticing his own hair laying about on the bed.

”An Owl?” That was the point, he was an owl, he didn’t even look like himself any more. He sighed and fixed his gaze down at his talons, and he flexed them for a moment.

“R-reahlly?” he perked up a little at Colettes last comment. He continued staring at his talons, he'd have to be careful with these now, they where made of killing things after all.

“Y-You reahlly think I look okahy like this?”

Maybe he wanted to believe her white lie.

She was right, he was still himself, in some twisted sort of way, but he was. He didn’t look her in the face and he though for a moment, while distracting himself with the lego on the floor.

“…S-sorry” he replied meekly. Instinctively he tucked his wings along his side, and huddled down on the bed.

The though occurred to him, if he’d changed, it wouldn’t be too long until Colette did too. She’d been so nice to him, maybe he should say with her, until she did too, it was the least he could do.

“M-mind if I stay a while?” He smiled a bit, though it was hard with his aching beak.

“Thahnks Colette” he lay down on the bed, his feathers actually felt kind of nice and soft against it.

“Oh, I’m j-just kinda tired from the change n’all.” He faked a yawn to “prove” it. “Remember lahst time?”

“I-I guess I could go make, you...if you really want me to leave I will” She caught him off guard there, like he had just now too. She was on to him. What was he going to do now?

The tables had turned now. Now Nick was the one who was felt like he wasn’t wanted. Maybe it’d just be better to explain himself, but if he told Colette that he thought she’d be changing soon too, it’d probably just upset her. But if he didn’t, it’d just be uncomfortable trying to be around her all the time.

“Oh, it’s okay” the pain of stepping on a few legos was quite minimal compared to the change “I should have called first, it’s my bad”

“It’s okay, I don’t mind a little mess”

A was an awkward silence as Colette continued to clear up the room, and Nick continued to muse whether or not to state his real intentions. Maybe if he could break it gently, while doing something else, maybe, just maybe.

“So...erm...you wanna do anything? I’m kinda tired, but I can mange something if you want”

“Hmph…yeah a board game would be fun, what did the lab give you? Though I might have to pick the dice up with my beak, if you don’t mind” He laughed a bit, a bit forced, but at least he was trying to make the most of things.

He was still lying on the bed as Colette finished up.

“Something wrong Colette?” noticed her sudden shock.

He though it strange for a brief moment, then he realised, what he’d been worrying about was happening. Why was it soon? Why now? The labs must have only given them both their shots that night. They both must have been in the latest “Batch”

“Y-your changing aren’t you?” he hurried got up and stumbled off the bed towards her.
