I've no idea. Maybe they weren't available?

They probably replaced Mimi since she is supposed to look 16.

Actually, it was mostly because Daphne Rubin-Vega was pregnant.

Exactly, Kitsune. Production would've been delayed too long if they'd waited for Daphne to have the baby and then slim back down to the size of the usual Mimi.
The onset of age hasn't helped her either, though. There was talk of replacing a LOT of the cast because they just seemed too "old" for their parts, but in the end, only Mimi and Joanne were replaced (honestly, I don't even know where Fredi Walker IS. She sorta vanished).

The cast of the movie was on Good Morning America (I think that was the show) today. I was sitting in a courthouse basement (1st time for Jury Duty) and reading Christopher Durang when I heard Seasons of Love from the TV waaaaaay back in the corner. The cast performed the song and were about to do an interview when the judge came in and turned off the TV. If there's any way to make Jury Duty worse, it's discussing the origins of a jury while the cast of Rent is on Good Morning America.

On tv this morning I saw the cast for the movie sing two of the songs for a performance in new york it was on the news

I didn't get to see them on the Today show but the clips are on the site. They moved the release date back to Nov. 23 for anyone who isn't in NYC, Toronto, or LA. It sucks!

She's done with theatre - I think the only theatre-related thing she plans on doing again is the Rent performance for charity next spring. From what I heard, she's gone south.

I just thought of something...everyone wants to know what Rosario Dawson's voice is like; a couple of years ago I remember she was in that Josie and the Pussie Cats movie...was that her singing or a voiceover? o.O

RENT makes me cry. I got my hands on the Collins Cast (2003 touring company with Constantine Maroulis as Roger) soundtrack and I love it. It always makes me cry.

I''ve heard rumors that that was a voiceover, but I''m really not sure. However, there''s a link on the Rent website to a bunch of clips from the soundtrack of the Rent movie, and you hear her in Out Tonight and LMC. She sounds great - very slinky. ^_^

It is a group of friends and their lives going through good times and bad, love and depression.
The characters are:
Mark-filmmaker, roomate of Roger, exboyfriend of Maureen
Roger- musician whose gf commited suicide after finding out they had AIDS
Maureen- actress, girlfriend or Joanne
Joanne- girlfriend of Maureen
Collins- teacher/really smart guy, bf of Angel, has AIDS
Angel- little confused about the specifics of this but to simplify I will just say boy dressed/acting like a girl, boy/girlfriend of Collins, has AIDS
Mimi- dancer, livevs in same building as roger and mark, has AIDS
Benny- rich friend, exroomate of mark roger collins and maureen when they lived together, owns building mark and roger live in.

Please tell me if I got any of that wrong or missed anything.
