King Seth WatersMoon110 King Seth Marijuana has a proven affect on mental health and general intelligence, it can be a massive problem for some people. I'm calling "source". If it has a proven affect, you'll have no problem backing this up. *wink* http://www.schizophrenia.com/prevention/streetdrugs.htmlAs always, it does not affect everyone, but can precipitate people with latent issues. Yeah. I thought you were talking about it causing mental health problems. People with latent or mild mental illnesses have been known to get (worse) symptoms after prolonged marijuana use. But you didn't address your claim that it has an affect on general intelligence.

Okay. My last post was of topic, and instead of editing it so every one will miss it, I'll just make a new one.
Personly, I dont think the United States is ready to legalize it. Nevada tried to do it recently and it was voted down by a 56% no. They say it was supposed to take police away from minor offences like this so they could focus on bigger crimes. For one, I'm not sure that would happen. The law, if passed, would state you could not smoke in public, you could not have any more then a certain amount at any time for any reason, you could not smoke in your car. I personly dont care what other people do with it, so long as they are being responcible, but the irrisponcibal people here in America would cause way too many problems for the responcibal.
Yeah, I've also heard that prolonged use can bring out certain conditions of mental instibiity for those who show sighns of having such disabilities, or even make them worse, but not every one.
Personly, I'll never do it. I have no problem with those who do. My problem is with those who try to justify that its okay for ME to smoke it. No, its not. I have an addictive personality for one. I smoke cigerettes and cigars, and I'm a chain smoker pretty much. I'm cuttig back though. Also, another reason for my not smocking I guess is a weird reason for some. I some times cant stand tackign asperin for the same reason I wont smoke this drug. That being it makes me feel weak when I cant take my own stress and problems without having to have some sort of crutch. Not saying it is a crutch,to some its not. To some its just somethign they like to do. For some it helps them think better, brings out their more creative side. For some it mellows them out when nothing else works.
Marijuana has shown that it is not physicly addictive, that it dosnt cause lung cancer, and that the only problems that arise from it are ones that the person may already have, or shows sighns of having. My only problem with it is that I feel too many people would be irrisponcibal with it.

You are looking at individual users being arrested, and I agree that many would still be arrested for using in public areas and such after marijuana was legal. Though I feel that less people would be arrested, since many users would choose to use in private homes and other designated areas. However, you forget that much of the wasted police time and effort goes into busting dealers, drivers, and growers. If it were suddenly legal to sell, grow, and ship marijuana, this is not something that police would have to do anymore. Tiger of the Fire Marijuana has shown that it is not physicly addictive, that it dosnt cause lung cancer, and that the only problems that arise from it are ones that the person may already have, or shows sighns of having. My only problem with it is that I feel too many people would be irrisponcibal with it. I don't see that people using responsibly or irresponsibly is something that should be taken into consideration when it comes to marijuana legalization. Many people cannot use the internet or alcohol or peanut butter responsibly, but we don't try to protect them from themselves by making those things illegal. An irresponsible marijuana user is almost never putting anyone at risk other than themselves (assuming they aren't driving which would still be illegal). And if they waste all of their time and money smoking pot in their own homes, if they lose their jobs or drop out of school because they would rather stay home and get high, it isn't going to hurt anyone but them.

I would like to point out that though it has proven not to be physically addictive it HAS proven to be psychologically addictive. And I'll update soon with what my psychology text book has to say on the subject.

However, can you really be sure that these people weren't stupid before they started using marijuana? I mean, there really are a lot of stupid people out there, and since about 1/4th of the US population uses marijuana (at least once a month) it is safe to assume that plenty of stupid people choose to use marijuana. I mean, there are a lot of stupid people who use Gaia (I've seen them *wink* they are in the ED -- posting oneliners! Ahhh!), but I wouldn't make the claim that Gaia made them stupid...

Beware the Jabberwock I would like to point out that though it has proven not to be physically addictive it HAS proven to be psychologically addictive. And I'll update soon with what my psychology text book has to say on the subject. But everything is potentially mentally addictive. And marijuana is only psychologically addictive to people who use it irresponsibly, either as an escape from their problems or who think of it as the only way to have fun. From my understanding, a psychological addiction is when one becomes dependent on feeling a certain emotion (in the case of marijuana, happiness) and usually relies on a certain substance or activity to gain that feeling. So while someone who is physically addicted to caffeine might crave coffee or soda for the caffeine in it, someone who is mentally addicted to marijuana (or sex, or extreme sports, or Gaia Online, or peanut butter) would crave the emotion they feel when they use/do that and so look to the substance to create that emotion. I just feel that a substance can't be blamed for people who use it irresponsibly, especially when the majority of users are not irresponsible or addicts.

Okay, I'm a total pothead, for one. I love my weed.
And for two, it doesn't hurt anyone else, I'm almost 20 years old, and I'll smoke it if I want.
Honestly, all it does for me is help me relax. I don't have an addiction, and I use it responsibly.
Miranda's seen me pretty high a couple times. She knows how I am.
And how weird I get when I'm stoned at GSA meetings. XD
Anyway, I think it should be legalized, taxed, and treated juuuuust like alcohol and cigarettes. It's the only logical thing in my mind to do. Plus, it would be easier to get, and I wouldn't have to be the one to call dealers anymore. Which gets, like, so annoying when you're the one who has to do it all the time. heart

I mostly buy off of friends, but if no one has weed, we'll have to call someone else, and that's usually someone we don't know as well, or only know through calling them in the past.
I have a couple good people that I trust. That's all I need.
As for mooching, I like to think of it as pooling our resources. Cause if I have money down the line, and don't right now, then if you smoke THAT with me, I'll smoke -this- with you next time.
It makes it a little more fair, I think.

It makes it a little more fair, I think.I might call it mooching, but I don't really think of it as such. When I was working, before I came to college, I was the only one in my family with a job. So I bought for myself, my brothers, and sometimes my mom. I considered it our pot, even though I bought it. My family is awesome, in that we all smoke together. Also, all of my siblings totally, totally rock. Now that I'm in college, I think of smoking with friends as a good time. I have some friends who really don't have the money to buy often, and don't mind when they come over to smoke. Actually, I have a couple friends that only come over when they don't have any, and I don't really care. Marijuana is such a social drug, for me, that I would rather have people to do it with than not. When my friends don't have pot, I usually just don't buy any. I tend to find just one person, or a couple of people, that I trust and buy exclusively from them. I'm too paranoid to try and call people I don't know well. McPhee, you are another person that I would not have guess used marijuana. Maybe I just assume that everyone on the internet doesn't? *wink*

My family's really more of the private kind of family, and we don't have long introspective conversations. We're casual with each other, and they wouldn't smoke weed with me if I asked them I think. I wish I had the openness with my family that you seem to have.<3
I like to buy a lot of weed myself-- really, I do. So I don't mind sharing a lot of it. However, I find there comes a point where it's like "I paid for it guys, so let me have some semblance of control". But of course I'm not confident enough to say that myself. It's not everyone, though. Some of my friends are just deserving of everything, including as much friggin' weed as they want. xd
Yeah. I haven't gotten high alone in quite a while. It's cause getting it is such a social thing, that you have to meet someone along the way to smoke it with.
I kind of get a lot of fronts, too, from dealers. Like, if I don't have the money, but payday's comin, I'll be like "Hook me up?" and s**t. It usually works, but I end up owing a chunk from my check.
I've smoked weed since I was in grade 9. Summer.
Good times, man. I always loved how you were in ED, with your marijuana thread. I seem to remember seeing you a lot back in my Extended Discussion days.
Man, a lot of people on the internet are stoners. It surprises me. heart
I ain't conservative at all in my lifestyle. I'm a gay boy who loves getting stoned, and loves having fun. Being pro-life is the most conservative part of me. People never fail to intrigue me.

My family has a lot of issues. But my siblings and I are really close and open, which is not something that many people get to enjoy. You know, I have not gotten fronted marijuana. If I don't have the money, I don't get any. Considering that I've been smoking since I was 16 and I smoke daily, I consider this an accomplishment. *wink* I love to smoke with other people, but lately I mostly smoke alone. Probably because I live offcampus now, and can smoke anywhere in my house (including the bathrooms *wink* ). Plus, I'm getting migraines again lately, and so I've been forced to smoke -- since the other option is to lay in bed, under the covers, in the dark with complete silence, and hope that they will go away. Codeine doesn't even help, only marijuana. And masturbation sometimes.
