Lewis stared for a moment, slack jawed. It couldn't POSSIBLY have been Wren. Wren didn't want children, and this woman didn't seem to mind.
"It... it's not her..." he said, trying to convince himself. But there was something all to familiar in the shape of her face, the color of her eyes, her hair. Everything about her reminded him of Wren, only she was slightly older now. And she had grown in beauty as she had grown in stature.
Lewis looked to Icelus.
"... Is it really her?"

This woman is the one you call Wren, in your time, Icelus said with a gentle smile. She is your mate in this time -- wedded quite legally and with my blessing.

Lewis couldn't say anything. He was too happy. He thought for sure that they wouldn't end up together... but then he got to thinking. His smile disappeared and he turned to Icelus.
"Just because we're married with a kid in this time," he said. "Doesn't mean we'll end up together in my time, does it?"
The mischeif oneroi suddenly started to exude melancholic vibes of depression.

Icelus watched the poor boy's face change, and the furry ears lower. He reached out a hand.
Come with me -- we will walk awhile, and we will talk, child of Mischief. All shall become clear... but there is a matter we must... clean up, first.

Lewis watched Wren for a few more moments, taking in as much of it as he could before turning to follow Icelus.
He was silent for a few moments before asking "What do we have to fix?"

Simply put, there are a few messes we need to handle, that you made... I cannot handle them by myself, said Icelus softly as they stepped out into the cool night. My Mischievous child has no need to fear. And I will answer all his questions, in due time, yes...?
He walked in quiet, in the direction of the temple; the dew-drenched grass soaked the hem of his sari and wet his feet, though he made no move for the well-used road, taking the way through the back.

"Oh crap," Lewis thought, ears lowering in shame. "What'd I do now?"
He followed Icelus, not really liking the feeling of the dew wetting his pants.
"Is there another path to get to where we're going?" he asked.

Icelus looked over his shoulder at Lewis with an eyebrow arched.
Have you changed so much that you do not recall the value of nature, my child? We are going to a child's place -- the place where you worked. There is something there we must address -- but if you are afraid of getting your feet wet, then perhaps you are further gone than I thought.

"No, no!" Lewis corrected himself quickly. "I totally love nature. Let's continue."
Crap, he didn't want to get on the god's bad side. He had just shown him the happy life he had in his past. Plus, he wanted to go the this 'child's place'. He liked kids, not just his. He was curious.

A little nod, and they continued across the field. It did not take too long before they had arrived at the small pavilion.
The walls were painted brilliant colors; small children's handprints and pawprints marked it in primary hues, smeared and splattered happily. The soft echoes of laughter echoed inside the pavilion, and the windows still glowed with bright, happy light.
This is where you work, Lewis, Icelus said softly, with a smile, as he gestured toward the door. Shall we go and see?

Lewis liked the look of this place. It looked happy and safe. He pressed his face against one of the windows and watched happily as he saw mini-oneroi scampering about and playing. He didn't know what it was, but seeing the kittens having fun made him happy on the inside.
"Yeah, lets go in," he said, smiling goofily. He wanted to play with the babies! biggrin

Padding to the door, Icelus quietly opened it. The handle was designed for small hands and babies' paws to easily be able to access, and the door swung open.
The kittens continued playing, gleeful and rambunctious, tumbling over and over on thick woven rugs in the warm golden light of the lamps.
"Can't catch me!" cried a little blond kitten as he toddled past the door.

Lewis, being the overgrown child that he was wanted nothing more at that moment than to pounce upon them all and jump right into the game of tag. However, he restrained himself... sort of.
His fists were clenched and he was shaking them excitedly.
"They're adorable!" he squeed. If he hadn't (until recently) been in a very very intimate and loving relationship with a female oneroi, one would think he was a little on the fruity side. "I want to plaaaay."

You can go, for a few moments, Icelus said with a slightly amused little smile, gesturing after the kittens which toddled past. Be careful -- you may meet yourself if we linger too long.
"Come on, come on!" the kitten bounced, looking anxiously up at Lewis. "Mister Lewis, we wanna play!

"They know who I am," he said smiling. Then he turned to the kitten who had spoken to him. He picked him up and placed him on his shoulders.
"Kay, we'll play," he said. "What should we play? Giant two headed oneroi chases other the other kittens sound good?"
Lewis liked this job.
