Twyla Myn I seriously think I cannot get a job at this game place because I am a girl and I haven't gone in there showing off some cleavage or wearing a short skirt. Really. I'm qualified! They just hired this dude that goes moves slower then a snail and they won't hire me? xp Other then that I never got problems because of my gender. surprised Had the same problem, they hired a non gamer over me scream

I've never really had much of a problem with game stores, mostly because I either buy games online or go in knowing exactly what I want.

There's a really good store called game dude, here. I sometimes feel nervous going there because there all usually all males and they give me a look that says "what the hell is SHE doing here?" IT's like they've never seen a girl before.

ji-an There's a really good store called game dude, here. I sometimes feel nervous going there because there all usually all males and they give me a look that says "what the hell is SHE doing here?" IT's like they've never seen a girl before. I always used to feel like that, coming in to game stores and comic book stores. I felt like everyone was staring at me... But no one ever asks if we need help unless my mom is helping us look (she's tall, and you can tell how little she knows about games) or my dad is helping us (he's pretty clueless too). But if we actually do need help, we get our mom to ask, since they aren't going to ask her "is it for your brother?"

When I go into game stores I usally get stared at if I'm by myself. No one asks if they can help me, they just stare. It bugs me a bit.
I also get stared at when I buy games. They never ask me if I'm buying it for someone else, they just stare at the game and then stare at me. Again, kind of annoys me.
But if I go in with a guy friend then no one looks twice at me. It's as if I'm invisible. It's really really odd.

I always have problems cause i only like really violent "boy" games or fighting games. I always get "your boyfriend or brother will love this" and I just lear at them and say it's for me and yet i can actually play very well and then they hit on me. -_- but the good thing is that they always challenge me to a demo game and i win so i feel pretty good about myself.

problems? Nope.... I never go out without my trusty Kubi hat! (( it's a snowboarding company... not verry big but they have good light-weight boards)) With that on and my usualy baggy shirts no one takes a second glance at me! It's when I start talking that I get the funny looks, but usualy it because everyone thinks I'm a guy, not because I'm a girl in a gamer store.

At Gamestop, all the guys know who I am and know that I'm a total gamer. I beat some of their asses in Soul Calibur III when the demo came out. Fun stuff. razz Plus, they like to flirt with me...a lot. They asked me if I ever want to work at Gamestop, there's always a spot open for me.
Sorry that you deal with so much sexism. o_o

I used to get approached by guys all the time in game stores when I was younger, but now that I'm older no one really pays that must mind to me (Curse you, aging!) I DO however have a gripe about being repeated the policy on strategy guides EVERY SINGLE TIME I buy a game. Usually, I only buy strategy games if there's some nice artwork inside and I only purchase games at the local Gamestop (one of the managers at EB has a crush on me, which I cannot return and don't want to be rude), so they know darn well I KNOW the return policy!

blaugh I don't know what it is about me, but when I walk in a game store they treat me like a regular gamer. I also get into in depth conversations with the male clerks over the various games out. I've never have encountered sexism, but then again I am rather tomboyish.

I know when I first moved here when I went into the local GameStop alot of the male customers would be staring at me weird (and to this day I'm usually the only female customer in the store when I'm in there) Now though, the guys that work at the store know me on a first name basis just about. I'm always in there. I've even been offered a job there.

lol. Maybe it's because I'm a mom, but no one ever bothers me. I will get into random conversations while browsing, but that's it. Plus it helps to know what you want and to tell them I don't need their help(nicely of course).
