Patches walked at a slow steady pace as if there wasn't anything really special about him. At first glace he was no more then an old dog with a washed up body and a riketty pair of legs. But what they didn't notice was what was underneath that perception. With his sences keen like a warrior he could almost pick up on any noise or vibration that any object around him made. It was almost as if he had an unatural forsight into the creatures about him; but this was probally more from the fact that his dog side was selectively bred down to only have these traits.

With that Patches froze as if his body had just given up on him, but then with a burst of speed shot forth as if he was a roman candle. It was dizzing what his body actully could produce; and with nimble turns shot around the trees until he appeared to have what looked like a small deer in his mouth. Though it struggled the black and whites agility had been to much for it. Then with a dying gasp flailed once more and went limp.

"Never underestimate yourself no matter what your age..." He gasped out in short breaths looking almost pleased as punch with himself. Then as if something had struck his ego down his expression faded back to stone again.

Alina raced after Patches as he homed in on the unsuspecting prey. Her heart pounded in her chest as she raced to keep up with the darting black and white streak. When she lost track of him visually through the trees she followed his scent. Making it in time to see him drop the dead deer.

"Lesson confirmed." she blinked and panted gently. Looking at the pleased look on Patches maw, then watched it wash off. How did he do that? She wondered with another stab of unquenchable couristy. "Not to ask to many questions, Patches. I just was wondering how you keep such a straight face all the time?"

As he licked the blood off from around his lips and teeth he seamed to pause at the question and roll it over in his mind as if he was looking for just the right anwser. The truth was he really didn't know why he was so stone faced. Prehaps it was just the fact it was how he acted around humans and it just kind of carried over. Or maybe it was just the weight of his being so different caused a lack of disconnection with the world around him either way he knew that the pup needed an anwser and being that he wasn't one to be dishonest he just clearly explained it.

"I wasn't always wild. Well in all honesty, I was born from a human town to watch sheep...and in that respect I've never really accepted the true me being raised one way and living the other. It's quite a paradox."

He sat then flopped downwards towards the ground with a sigh. Though he still retained his youthful agility and speed his age was still a factor and it would probally be a while before he got up or even attempted to eat his meal.

Alina listened to his reasoning and shook her head after a moment. She had never heard the words Human Town or Sheep though from just what little she had actually known Patches. She went with assumptions that sheep were possibly animals, and human town that word combination made her spine quiver.

"I see. Kinda like if I was taken from the woods to this Human town. I would feel out of place and disconnect from everything that I thought I knew?" Alina tested to see if she was even close to comparison. Ignoring the fresh kill for now.

Patches gave a slight nod with what was left of his strength, then pondered if the pup even knew what humans were; most likely she didn't because unless you've actully met one for real- it was a real slim chance that she'd even heard the word before.

"Humans are like wolves except they walk around on two legs...that and they don't want you to kill the four-legged grass eatters. For some odd reason they take the fur from them and wear it being they are all running about completly naked. They are really quite an odd sort..."

Patches face contorted with confusion still not understanding the two leggers one bit even after living with them for so long.

((Sorry for not posting sooner. Life has been alittle crazy for me the last few weeks.))

Alina let the words Patches told her roll around in her mind for a minute. Letting it all process before speaking up in a hurried fashion like normally. The thought of not being allowed to kill normal prey, from what she knew the grass eaters to be, was almost as odd as the thought of these humans walking around skinned.

"What creature took off the humans' fur?" she pondered out loud watching the elder's face contort with confusion at internal thoughts. Fasination at this new information presented before the young pup made her more curious then hungry, by far.

Patches snickered at the thought. "Actully I don't think they were ever blessed with fur in the first place...even thier pups seam to have nothing but the grass eaters wool." It probally was more funny to him since he had actully seen then in person then Alina who was imagining it. Actully the more he thought of it, it actully sounded quite frightening. "But even if your curious- don't go looking for the hairless two leggers...they have loud boomboom sticks...and I've seen them use them on others of our kind..."

His jaw went slack going over the memories, a two legger dragging a dead canid over his shoulder just because he was starved and wanted a grass eatter. "It's a completly different world they live in."

((It's okie I understand life))

A viloent shudder coursed her spine at the thought of going anywhere near the two leggers. Her mind solidified the decision when the mention of a boomboom stick. That just didn't sound healthy. "Don't worry, Sir. I won't go anywhere near the two legged and their four legged grass eatters. It doesn't sound...healthy." Alina's ear wilted at the last word.

Then she walked over to the deer and feebly ripped off a chuck of meat. Scooting backwards in the attempt to drag the piece over to Patches so he didn't have to get up. It seemed like the right way to give him her gratitude and that way she knew he would actually have the first bite.

Her carmel eyes looked at Patches after dropping the chuck of meat before him. "Thank you for answering and quenching my couristy for now, Patches." Her stomach growled know at the scent of the kill coming from the small opened wound.

Patches could see what the pup was doing and curtiously took a small bite, still not having much energy from the kill itself. "Very good and very fresh..." He spoke with a half tounge because he'd lost the strength to swallow. He figured though by the time the other had her fill that he'd be ready for his own. A curse of being old- but at least he was still capable of killing unlike some of his older comards he worked with in his younger days.

"Go ahead and eat your fill- I know your hungry." He pushed a weak smile on his face as the saliva kept running into his mouth furtherly making it hard to speak.

With a soft nod of her head, Alina walked back towards the carcass. For even and elder, Patches was different then what she had imagined the older wolves to be like. In fact, most of the time when she thought of elders, the imagine was one that held cranky old wolves scolding pups her age.

Her thoughts ended as soon as her fangs started to rip off little pieces of meat. After a few bites, parts off of the back leg, the hershey chocolate pup crawled off to lay near a bush. Her stomach was full, for once in the longest time she could recall, and she was struck with a happy sleep feeling.

Patches was starting to feel more like himself and it was a good thing because he had been waiting for the longest time to swallow what was in his drool filled mouth. With a slight push lifted his tired body off from the ground and licked his jaws fully intending to eat his fill. He probally in reality would never have enough strength to kill somthing that big again; just the pup seamed to give him good feelings that he hadn't felt since his humans.

With wobbly legs bending towards the carcass he began ripping into the bone chewing threw everything in the stomach region. This tasted almost as good as that grass eater he had devowered on the two-leggers territories. Maybe even better because he knew there were no reprecussions involved with eatting this kill. Full well he knew what was going to happen when he ate the human's fur. But it was then when he was completly lost in thought that his stomach had pouched from eatting to much. Prehaps I should stop worring. He looked over to the pup with the same fimilar smile returning. His purpose in life was to take care of her just like he did for the humans.

"Now that was a good meal."

Alina bobbed her head up and down at the elder's statement and didn't bring attention to his smile. When his maw was turned slightly into that rare smile, she didn't feel intimidated really being around him.

"Best meal I've had in a week," she commented looking over at Patches with her soft eyes. Then a large tongue-rolling fully exposed fang yawns took over the growing pup's face features. Blinking out the water that had formed in little pools on her eye lids, Alina gave Patches a kind smile. The pup felt safer with the bi-colored wolf then she had wondering aimlessly through the ever growing forest.

"Thank you, Patches." her voice was weak, but sincer with the words just spoken. Craning her neck a little Alina watched the older wolf with careful trusting eyes, I wonder if this is what a grandparent is like? she thought to herself. Watching the elder as she was, Alina never wanted to see any harm befall him. But with that thought she asked one more question carefully, "Did you get chased off of the two-leggers land with the boomboom stick after killing the grass-eatter?"

The smile drifted as quickly as it came and he nodded to the pup. "Yes I would say that- not only were they shooting these noisy sticks at me; but they turned my own kind on me..." He seamed to nod to the scars he had all over his body. "And even though I had worked with them for years- they attacked me like they had never seen me before..." He sighed and could still drift back to that terrible day. Boomboom sticks blaring, grass eattings stampeding, dogs and two leggers everywhere.

"Those boomboom sticks are the most deadly though..." He trailed off remebering the acidental shot that had killed one of the dogs that were chasing him; clean flew right off the ground and into the air from the impact. It was unatural as if something had possesed him. "Just be careful if you see the two leggers...trust me your reconize them by sight- and if you need me call." He was quite firm on the message not wanting to see anything happen to his friend.

Attentively Alina listened to Patche's words this would be the last refrence back to such, what she classified, a sensitive subject. The tone he was using, even at this age, the pup knew better then to take it lightly. When the fact that the two-leggers sent others after Patches, she growled softly with disapproval of the scars he idicated.

"I'll howl for help if I can." she promised with a very sincer almost adult like countanance. Alina was already storing the information the elder had even her into memory. The mind was a much more dangerous weapon then fangs she recalled setting up, Alina's food was still digesting but it felt better to sit up then lay down at this moment.

Patches just nodded with approval, taking a fond liking to the pup. She was something that he really hadn't had in his life time; a friend and the thought seamed to clear up any emotions he had from his previous topic.

With his thoughts drifting much like his digestion he seamed to go into a near transe-like sleep. It was at this time his body 'regenerated' the amount of damage he took killing the deer in the first place. And though he didn't say it- chances were that they would have to move along quickly because the carcass was probally attracting unwelcomed visitors. But until that point he would just simply enjoy the peace of mind.
