At first, he was simply bewildered by the sudden change in attitudes, staring and blinking blankly, but her tears abruptly snapped him out of his stupor, and his heart broke for her as she cried. Debating for a moment on what was the best thing to do, he hesitated before taking off from the teepee, ignoring the sharp stabbing pain of his injuries as he sprinted for the nearest apple tree. It was only a moment before he returned again with the aforementioned apple, panting and limping worse than before as he dropped to his knees beside Luna, nuzzling away a tear as he set the fruit before her.
"Don't cry, Miss Luna... please..." he felt helpless, unable to do anything except offer his own words of comfort, wipe away her tears and nuzzle her cheek. "Please don't cry, beloved... tell me what you want and I'll get it for you, I promise."

Her tears flowed faster and harder when he ran off suddenly. As if she couldn't feel any worse. Now she had scared him off too and she still didn't have a good apple! Wallowing in her misery she buried her muzzle into the edge of her blanket and continued to cry until words and short whiskers wiped away her tears. Lifting her head she met Shadow's eyes and couldn't help but smile at what he had dropped before her.
She bit into the apple and squinted her eyes shut. It was bitter but she took a chunk anyway. She supposed it was the thought that counted and she didn't want to insult him and make him leave. "Just don't leave me alone again! At least not without telling me where you're going...I don't want to mess up with you too." She stuck her bottom lip out in a pout making her look more pathetic then she really felt.
She studied him for a moment as she took another sour bite. Something was odd about how he was standing and breathing. Then she remembered that he was injured. She laughed, truly glad that he cared enough to run and fetch her anything she wanted but she was also sad. She didn't want him to hurt him self anymore. "Also...next time you want to run off...make sure you aren't gonna kill yourself in the process."

He smiled as he caught his breath, nosing at her forehead gently as he heaved a quiet sigh of relief that her tears had stopped. He chuckled at her request, nodding before gently resting his head against her neck as he fought the sudden weakness in his muscles. He hadn't been running in quite some time, but he supposed now was as good a time as any to begin exercising again. "Miss Luna, you couldn't get rid of me right now if you tried."
He grinned sheepishly as he commented about his recklessness, one ear twitching back as he shifted his head to rest on her small shoulder. "Well, I can't really help it. You should know by now that I can't stand to see you unhappy... and I'll do anything and everything within my power to make you feel better."

"I never said I'd try." She said smiling before taking another bite. She didn't really know what to say now. Most of what she had even considered involved Ame being there and now the girl had gone and run off. She lay her head on the floor and let a stream of air from her nose to make her curling forelocks ripple like waves. She smiled then repeated the motion finding amusement in it.
A sudden want for the last bite of apple drew her mind away to the fruit. With the whole apple happily stomached she looked up at Shadow with curious eyes. "Do you want a son or daughter?" She asked rolling slightly so she could see him better. It was a question she had been asked several times before but she couldn't remember him ever being asked. Sure his answer wouldn't change things between them but it made her so curious.

He grinned at her response, starting lightly a moment later at her inquiry. Son or daughter... male or female... he'd never really thought about it before, and he knew he'd love the foals whatever they were, but did he have a preference? The shining golden orbs misted over slightly as a dreamy, faraway expression graced his features, and he let his eyes close briefly before opening them and smiling down at her. "I imagine I'd like a daughter... who has her mother's beauty and kindness." He paused here, a somewhat sheepish grin overcoming the ecstatic look as he considered the alternative. "While I would love a son as well, I'm not sure how well I'd like another me running around."
Curiosity overtook the brief melancholy that had swept over him at his thoughts upon himself, yellow slitted hues questioning as they alighted on her form once more. "What about you, Miss Luna? I know you already have a daughter, but do you want another, or would you prefer a son?"

Lunathiel giggled feeling her face heat up at the compliment. Shadow had the habit of always making her feel like a child and, truth be told, she rather liked it. "Yeah, another you would be rather scary." She said poking some fun at the ebony stallion. "And for me...I think I'd like another girl. Maybe a calmer child would soothe Ame a bit but then again I imagine she'd get along better with a boy. So I guess I'd like a girl while Ame would like a boy." She smiled laughing at her self before nosing into the pile of apples again. She wasn't really hungry as much as she just wanted something to chew on.
Once she found a suitable one she pulled it closer to her and took a bite out of it. "Are you hungry Shadow?" She asked swallowing. His trip here must have been a long one and she had just now thought of how rude she had been. "You can have some apples or there's a pile of grass over there that Bandit collected...and I'm pretty sure there are still some carrots around here..." As she spoke she searched the teepee with her eyes. It seemed as though most of the food had actually gone missing.

He mock-pouted at her light-hearted jab, although a grin still teased at the corners of his mouth that he could not hide. He nipped at her ear playfully as she answered his own question, moving to rest his chin over her neck as he simply enjoyed her closeness, at having her all to himself. Feline slitted hues slid closed in bliss as a contented sigh escaped his lips, and he relaxed against her side.
His eyes opened again at her offer, and he smiled slightly once more as he gave a curt nod in response. "I am a bit, Miss Luna, thank you." He looked around a bit, leaning sideways to snag an apple from a pile on the floor beside them. It wasn't fresh- it had been most likely sitting there for a few days- but he didn't care. At this moment, there were very few things in the world that could have brought his mood down. As he swallowed, he debated the next turn in their conversation... before realizing in something faintly close to horror that he'd completely forgotten what he'd intended to ask her.
Scrambling to his feet and grunting with the effort and strain it put on his pained muscles, he grinned sheepishly down at her before carefully lowering himself onto one knee. "Miss Luna, please forgive my forgetting to ask you, I just got caught up in the excitement of all this." He paused a few moments, considering his words cautiously before continuing on. "I believe my furball of a friend once called me 'old-fashioned' for wanting to do things this way, but I can't imagine doing it any differently. Lunathiel, light of my life, my beloved, would you please do me the honor of being my lifemate?"

Lunathiel watched him with curiosity as she chewed on a piece of apple. That apple managed to find a way to lodge itself in her throat as she finally realized what he was doing. Wide-eyed, she coughed and sputtered both trying to remove the apple and find the words to answer. She hadn't ever really considered this possibility. she never thought anyone, not even Shadow, would want to be bound to her for life.
As the apple chunk made its way to the floor she stood and backed up feeling heat flooding her face. "I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I" She gulped and looked at him trying to have a clear thought. As she met his eyes she felt everything falling into place and she calmed. There was no one else she would rather spend her life with. Amoena claimed to want to make her happy and if she would stand by that oath she could not argue with mothers decision.
"I can't believe you had to ask." She said smiling down at him with a smile that came from her whole body. "Of course I would, Shadow." She dropped to the ground gently and lay her head beneath his throat. "Of course I would."

Although he would never admit it, those few moments in which she looked unsure of her answer, stammering as she tried to speak, Shadow was terrified. After all they'd been through, after all the heartbreak, would she decide he wasn't worthy of her heart? He had certainly hurt her enough for that, if Amoena was any indication. He couldn't help the hitch in his breathing as he awaited her answer, struggling with all he had not to panic.
He was glad he was already on his knees when she gave her answer, because he probably would have embarassed himself and collapsed in relief if he hadn't been. A deep sigh of contented relief was heaved from his lungs as he smiled brightly and nuzzled her head beneath his neck. "If you'll excuse the corny, cliche line, Miss Luna, you've made me the happiest stallion alive. I promise, you'll want for nothing."

Lunathiel laughed at the old fashioned stallion, no, her old fashioned stallion. However his words did confuse her a bit. "That's no good though...I like wanting. It gives me something to do while I'm alone." Though now she wondered if she would get any alone time. She had gotten it every few days with Amoena but now she had more children on the way that would require a bit more attention then a grown mare. Then again with after that skinwalker attack she'd probably be followed every time she left the teepee even if she didn't have foals with her.
She sighed with a smile on her face. "Well at least I'll never be lonely." She said forgetting that Shadow couldn't just read her thoughts. She looked at him closely then to her stomach. Once she had her foals what would happen? She didn't know a thing about what life mates did other then stay with each other until death. It seemed like there had to be more to it, it couldn't just be only love could it? It seemed almost to simple but maybe that was the beauty of it. Maybe it was only supposed to be an eternal love. If it was, then that was, strangely, wonderful.

He was a bit confused at her abrupt change in subject- how did they go from wanting to being lonely? Still, he wasn't about to question her- he might just attribute it to her hormone-induced mood swings; he heard pregnancy did that, after all.
Shadow used to loathe the idea of commitment- of being tied down to one mare for the rest of his life. The prospect of spending a life with Miss Luna and their foals didn't frighten him and send him running for the hills as it once might have- on the contrary; he couldn't imagine spending his life with anyone else.
Golden eyes watched as the azure mare looked towards her own swollen belly, noting the trepidation there before his muzzle joined hers over the swell, and he smiled. "We'll raise them together, Miss Luna, you don't have anything to be worried about. You're already a wonderful mother to Miss Amoena- I would worry about what their father is going to do." He gave her a sheepish, lopsided grin.

A blue eye twitched at his words as Lunathiel shot him a look that said 'you better be joking'. She trusted that Shadow wasn't going to do anything bad to them but she didn't want her babies growing up to be wild. "Shadow...I love you and all...but if these foals turn out to be troublesome I'll blame you." She said with a bit of a laugh before dropping her head to the floor. She was happy but she was also very tired.
Carrying a child inside you was no easy task. The weight alone was enough to drive her to sleep at least half the day away. That more then half day was needed now. Explaining things to Amoena had always been stressful but trying to do it with foals in your belly was near impossible. "Now...you should do your job and guard the teepee while I sleep." She smiled at him from her spot on the floor before closing her eyes. She wasn't planning on sleeping just yet, she would wait until Shadow seemed okay with it but she didn't want to tire her self out either.

He chuckled nervously at the heated glare that she directed towards him, offering her his most charming smile in an attempt to soothe her doubts. "Never fear, Miss Luna, I'm sure that if my parenting skills are called into question, you'll be there to put me in line," he joked lightly, nuzzling her neck as she laid her head on the ground.
He paused at her sleepy request, smiling and nodding before gently sliding his muzzle beneath her head, lifting it so it rested upon his shoulder instead of on the hard ground. "Yes, Ma'am. Don't worry, I'll protect this dwelling with my life." He said that light-heartedly, but he was deadly serious at the same time. Shadow, now that he had a family, was not going to let any harm come to them while he still had life in his body.
Casting one more tender look upon his mate and her swollen belly, he gently nosed her cheek as he whispered to her softly. "Sweet dreams, love. I'll be here when you wake up."
