"Am Grencia." The stallion gave a bow, his wings unfurling ever so slightly to help him balance against the added weight on his forelegs. Following this expression of politeness, he pulled himself up once more and gave a soft snort - apparently the dew hadn't quite left his wings as of yet and were causing a slight chill and discomfort...not as though he could do much to prevent it anyway.

"It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance, how long have you resided in these lands?" He furrowed his brow as he thought back to the number of times he had glided through the air and not once could he recall her...perhaps, like so many, she had made the journey to the Kawani lands.

...But for what reason?

Bobbing her head as he gave his name, no longer staring at his wings, they were apart of him nothing to make him amazing. His expression was of bland acceptance, how unusual... as the stallions she had met were either exceedingly happy or the polar opposite. Grinning at her own vanity she bobbed her head again as she didn't remember if she had or not. Normally not a feather-brained ditz... Must be tired... Shaking out her mane as she thought to herself those words.

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Grencia.. I don't reside in these lands actually, I've been wanding aimlessly for some time now trying to find a land that I'd like to make my permanate one. It's lovely here but I don't know if it feels like home.." Babbling on for longer than she liked to, clamping her mouth shut and smiling, "What are these lands called?"

"I have not the slightest idea." Grencia replied, his tone dubious as he swung his green gaze towards the horizon and the mountains that towered above them. From here, the highest peak was almost imposing, hidden for the most part by mists that never seemed to have any intention of leaving their posts - well, he could say that the mists were determined and that was admirable.

"However," Returning his gaze to the young mare as she bobbed her head he offered a much warmer smile, his features softening in the process. "Those I have met sometimes mention 'Kawani' instead of 'home' or 'land' so perhaps that is an indication of its name?" He offered, adjusting his weight to the other hind hoof as he focused his attention on the mare - it would be uncouth to look elsewhere when he spoke again.

Following his gaze, staring up at the mountains with a hint of melancholy in her eyes. Her past had not been hard by any means but the more and more she realized how much she had given up, the more and more she wished to just curl up and give up all in the same day. Forcing herself to look back at him, gaining her composure with a bit of force she sighed softly, "And do you call these lands home? It must not be much of a home if it has a name to others other than that of ... well "Home" or something like that."

Trailing on a bit she stopped her talking, managing to give him a warm smile in return to his, her mind was having trouble focusing... Perhaps she wasn't meant to live with others around her? What if she were meant to be a hermit? Pawing the ground and snapping at herself, not realizing the words were being muttered out loud, "Quit the stupidity.."

"I -" Grencia had been about to reply when she uttered those words and looked mildly taken aback. He was fairly certain he hadn't said anything out of sorts and yet she had spoken those words with what could have almost been bitterness, was he being paranoid in assuming they were about him?

Most probably, the world did not revolve around him and thus he chose to ignore the remark in the hopes that he was taking the right path...and besides, if it was meant for him, she would repeat it if he kept talking anyway, or kick him...the females of this particular land seemed to have a habit of favouring violence over words for the most part.

"I suppose you could not call the land in its entirety home," He began slowly, his manner thoughtful as he considered her question. "In fact, I would assume that only a small portion of the land would be considered home to particular soquili, where they feel most at peace..." He trailed off for a few moments and cleared his throat. "For example, I once met a mare who adored the mountain ridges overlooking the desert, she called that home but would not refer to the forests as her home."

Motioning towards the skies with his muzzle he released a sigh.

"My herd were Nomadic, our home was not a land so much as where we all gathered...where we felt secure and well protected by the war steeds of the herd." He failed to mention that he was a war steed and smiled wryly.

"Home is whatever you perceive it to be, it is not always defined in the same way by another individual."

Biting her lower lip, keeping her head dipped low, and wishing she could take back those words, Lovey figured her probably thought she was either crazy or offended by the word "home" both of which weren't true... but still... Snapping to "quit the stupidity" or anything like that usually didn't make people happy. Stallions usually took offense easily too... Lovey had never been one to mince words and nicities... Luckily she got along with almost everybody or else she probably would've been beaten to a pulp by now.

Grinning a bit up at him she pondered his words, "My home has always been where my mane was safe from damage." Bowing her head, knowing what a jackass that comment made her sound. "My home, what I do remember, was based on beauty.. when the lines of age took hold a mare would revert to an almost hermit-like state and not come out into public." Shaking her head wryly as her past pieced itself together.. yet it seemed like something was missing... Smiling, easing her grin she listened as his words continued...

"Nomadic... hmm.. that would probably be so much easier with the wings... Unfortunately I tire easily at times." Smiling a bit mischieviously, forcing back a few stray thoughts she kept on topic...

"I'll never call one single place home, since if I do that.. well what if I die and realize I've missed the place that should've been home? Until I've seen the world I can't say where I want to be..." Winking, feeling her mood lightening as the sky continued to raise higher and higher...

"Tell me.. Grencia... Where is your herd now?"

Grencia's face was expressionless as she described her home but mentally he scoffed at the brutality of the 'regime' she was forced to live under. The mere though of trying to force the elders of his herd into solitude both appalled and amused him at the same time for the simple reason that most would have mauled him to death if he had tried - the same went for any other youth that tried to suggest something so peculiar.

Nevertheless...it was not his place to comment on another's past.

"Many of my herd did not have wings." Grencia offered, correcting her misled assumptions with a polite smile, "Those with wings became either scouts or guardians due to the benefits of having additional limbs but for the most part, I assure you that we all walked." Still, as she enquired as to the whereabouts of his herd he fell silent and glanced briefly at the mountains.

"I have not seen them in many weeks, I have been charged with another task." He murmured vaguely, clearing his throat as he returned his gaze to the mare and flashed another smile. "However, as spring approaches our herd will move away from the lowlands and begin to make the climb up the slopes again - there is a valley quite far north of here that contains a very large lake and rather pleasant living conditions in the summer...I cannot say it is pleasant during the autumn and winter, hence our moves."

Lovey's mind went over the facts of her childhood slowly, mulling over how the mares had gladly hidden themselves... Staying in with other "uggos" and trying to find the cure-all to age.. Most of the mares that came out "young again" wore a ton of what humans called make-up and looked like hideous hag-clowns to her. An old scary-story was told of a mare that attacked little-ones trying to suck out their youth.. Grinning randomly she realized how stupid her friends had been... Nobody had led them and taught them the real truths of life because the only ones smart enough were hiding....

Shaking her mane she grinned again, knowing from his blank face he either agreed whole heartedly... or more likely thought it was sheer idiocy.

"Don't have wings... Hmmm" Looking at her smooth pale-lilac back, almost trying to imagine what it would feel like to have the added weight and abilities, "If you all walked..." Frowning, a bit confused at where her mind was going towards, "No nevermind.. don't listen to my babbling." Imagining the valley he described, she snorted and nodded up at him, "And that is where you all head then? Where have you been for the winter?"

"Myself personally, or my herd?" He enquired curiously. She had left the question rather open to his own interpretation and as she admired her own pelt he couldn't help but wonder what had led her to beat so preoccupied with her appearance and perhaps...that of others. No doubt it had something to do with locking up your elders when they matured a little - that thought still made his mouth twitch in an attempt to smile.

"This winter I have had little choice other than to ascend the mountain and to explore the Kawani lands. However, my herd will have resided in the lowlands where water and food are plentiful. The lowlands are what one would call the..." He paused thoughtfully for a few moments as a mental image of the Kawani lands appeared in his heads.

"Meadows or Clearings, close to the lakes." His eyes grew warm at the thought of his herd and it was quite clear that he was a stallion who was very much a family 'man', one who believed in protecting and supporting them.

Regardless of age or appearance.

"But praytell, what is so peculiar about my herd walking?"
PostPosted: Wed Feb 28, 2007 2:51 pm

Bowing her head deeply to him, once again mock subserviant, "I'm afraid, sir, that sometimes my mind wanders and makes it's own connections.. and then those connections mean nothing to those that I'm talking to... For how else would your herd move if not walk? Perhaps take up skipping?" Shaking her head again, knowing he probably thought her brain-cell count was a continueally decreasing number. "Oh.. I suppose your herd.. or you personally... whichever you prefer to answer." Sensing the stallion hid things about himself.. but then too who wasn't guilty of hiding things or masking the real answer every now and again?

"Meadows... oh.. they're lovely in the summer too.." musing delightedly, "So many flowers.. they taste so good and look so nice." Beginning to laugh helplessly, "I'm sorry Grencia.. I've not seen too many thing in a happy or bright light lately.. I appear to have picked the most absurd time to find anything and everything amusing."

Shaking out her mane she looked up at him curiously, wondering if he ever found things bizarrely amusing...

There were times when he found things incredibly amusing, even when others might consider them unimportant or boring. He never chose to explain them, simply revelling in the laughter and the pleasure it brought him but at this moment in time, that wasn't about to happen - there was nothing at present that amused him, perhaps for fear of insulting the lady.

...Still...

"You need not apologise for your mannerisms, they are what set you apart from those around you." He offered another one of his smiles, failing to admit that he was reasonably intrigued as to how her mind worked. At times, she seemed so very confident and yet within moments she would appear to laugh nervously and apologise for something he considered to be irrelevant.

"Although I must confess I lie when I claim we walk all the time, we do have to swim occasionally." He pointed out rather teasingly, "And of course there is the traditional hill rolling."
PostPosted: Wed Feb 28, 2007 3:15 pm

Fluttering her lashes up at him like a little coquette, but unable to hold back her laughter, giggling with delight. Very little held her back, actually, nothing held her back it was just that every once in awhile she would feel the need to apologize for something that some people might find irritating. The stallion hadn't felt the need to accept her apology nor had he been overbearing and state nonsensities like, "Nonsense my lady! Dont' apologize" Grinning up at him cheekily, she sighed sadly after forcing a straight face, "I'm afraid, sir, you just simply CAN'T be my knight in shining..." eying him before giggling once again, softly and happily, "feathers."

Managing to straighten again she calmed down a bit, "I'm not mocking you.. honest.. just my mind you know.." Winking and beginning to try to gnaw at her lower lip she teased him back, "Hill rolling? Swimming? What modes of transportation are those? Surely walking is the only choice..." Making her eyes round, and dumb looking for a moment before pawing at the ground.. Feeling like an absolute child..

"I've decided Grencia.. that I shall never grow up.. it simply sounds dull."

"Well - I knew I looked scrawny but... " He stretched out a wing to admire his flight feathers thoughtfully. His eyes didn't seem affected by the delicate glow but he did appear to be musing over them - he had seen horses with glimmering metal over their backs and legs but that had seemed incredibly uncomfortable to him.

"You are right, m'lady." He sighed in a rather exaggerated manner and shook his head, "I simply do not make the cut as a knight, I am too small, scrawny and no doubt I could be devoured by the next passing cat." He quirked a brow at the thought, having come very close to such a thing during his childhood but he refrained from voicing the comment.

"And there is always a time for maturity and a lack thereof...It's just more invigorating to be lacking in maturity for the most part." He released a chuckle and then gave one of his shrugs, something that ruffled his feathers. "Although I assure you, hill rolling is significantly faster than cantering down one, even if you do acquire a great many bruises in some rather peculiar places."
PostPosted: Wed Feb 28, 2007 5:06 pm

"oh dear..." Thinking to herself as he examined a wing in speculation.. Does he think I was calling him scrawny? Sighing almost inaudibly Lovey pasted a smile to her face. She seemed to becoming a bit of a bully to others... or she was being hyper sensitive to the others around her. Yes... that one would work, "Oh dear.. I certainly wouldn't call you scrawny."

Grinning and feeling more reassured with his silly words, "Oh yes.. I'm ever-fearful for you Grencia... as I'm sure this land is riddled with cats.. all of which could devour you without so much as breaking a sweat...." Winking and smirking slightly, "Of course, you have my large amount of muscle to protect you... Feel free to cower behind me at anytime you need." Snorting and laughing, mirth filling her eyes and stance. What an unusual stallion to speak with...

"Yes... I feel so much more alive when I act like I was just born." Mulling it over and letting her mouth spill out the thoughts that entered her mind, "Perhaps it's because your mind is so much closer to those beginning stages of life." Winking up at him once again, "Soo.. if, in theory, acting young -- makes one feel young.. wouldn't procreating young have the same effect?" Trying to hold back a grin Lovey tried to imagine the stallions reaction. She often enjoyed messing with stallions... usually the word "baby" made any nearby unattached stallion run like his tail was on fire. Eyes widening curiously, "Oh my... what sort of places?"

"My lady!" Grencia feigned horror as the mare began to relax around him and looked 'appalled' at her behaviour. However, after a few moments he did release a warm chuckle through his parted lips and shook his head, the whisker-like feathers shivering above his eyebrows. "Both of those questions are terribly forward, one might expect that Spring is beginning to make you broody." He offered in an accusing, yet teasing manner.

"In relation to places where bruises can appear, I do believe I had one right behind my ears at one point and if it is possible that feathers may bruise then I expect I might have done it - the last time I tried to roll down a hill..." He trailed off as he recalled all of his friends (all of the same age, he might add) rolling down a hill.

...Some had landed in rivers.

...Others in dung, their mates hadn't appreciated the gesture upon returning.

And he...

"Well, I had the unfortunate luck of rolling over some rather jagged rocks and when I stood up again the feathers upon my wings sat at the most peculiar angles. I think the majority of them fell out as I distinctly remember mares placing coloured feathers in the manes of their foals." He cleared his throat and arched a brow after a moments consideration.

"Not really the most ideal way of setting an example to foals, giving them the feather of a mad-man, but each to their own I suppose." He mused, flicking his ears forward as he considered her previous question, it was an unusual one but that didn't bother him - he just didn't want to get a kick to the teeth.

"As for procreating, I cannot say I have ever heard a mare complain." His words were slow, recalling the twinkle of a mated mare's eyes and he cleared his throat. Oh yes, what was once innocent apparently became devillish when they found a mate.

"Mares are fascinating creatures." He voiced aloud, snorting softly as he regathered his thoughts.

"You do realise even insinuating to having foals would make most sane stallions bolt? We do so loathe commitment...It's in the blood you know."
