Ah, the miracle of science! heart How much do you want to bet that the team developing it are FMA fans...or the parents of FMA fans. giggle. That totally rocks!!

Evilnekopyro Well, I know it would be severly painful to cut off my own limbs, but no one else would have to know it was totally on purpose. As long as I don't say something obvious such as 'I was trying to juggle chainsaws, now give me that new arm that looks like automail from FMA!' wyrfxrssn How about, 'Ninjas attacked me and I had no chance. They needed an arm to do experiments on now gimme the automail!' I heart the reason you two came up with!

automail would look a whole lot better then some of the limbs ive seen. i was in the mall and i saw a guy walk in with this huge bulky metal thing where his left arm would be and a kind of claw at the end for a hand. automail would be SO much better

Owch....well it's good that technology is coming up now...I wouldn't cut off my arm for it, but if I somehow got into an accident and it was needed, sure. it's bettern than nothing
There's also another thing (nothing FMA related but-) they're researching memories and apparently they can make a silicon ship react to hippocampus tissue and electrical pulses whihc mimic pulses of "memory", though they aren't sure on this stuff, but they expect to use the technology for alzheimer's patients as well as trauma accidents and such deals involving memory loss and stuff. Good luck with that-.. xd
but yea...oh the progression of technology... domokun

Well, the scientists that are making these could be FMA fans or have children that are FMA fans. You never know.
