Magnus' grin was contagious, and one as comparably broad was soon pulling at Myrrh's face. Her voice had dropped to not much more than a loud whisper in the catching excitement. "Are you going to keep teasing me like this, Maggie?"
Ninja, arms still around Kiko's neck, stood on tiptoe, raised her voice just enough to be heard, but not quite a yell. "Knowledge is the greatest gift we can recieve. Tell us, lady, and we will listen."

Kameko looked up as a very familiar dragon has come zooming into the croud and pretty much knocked over a few kyn to boot. "yes, I loved the plant! and when it opened, the colours were fabulous! they were all glowy and pretty and everything!"
"would you please be careful next time?!?!" a disgruntled shiro got up after being tumbled into by the much larger kyn, and walked around the other side of kichi so it wouldn't happen again
however, sharketsu hadn't been to impressed at almost being knocked over himself, so he made a few attempts of trying to bite drazio's wings
"hey hey will you lot cut it out?!" poke shouted. "I'm trying to find the deeper meaning of creation here!" she was still trying to find this "thing" myan and aedan were talking about

Minya bobbed her head again, slowly, thinking. It was hard to begin. "Our histories state that at one point we were nothing at all except myths and legends. Until one day a boy believed so much that he left his family and went searching for us. And that boy found an egg in the mountains - something larger than a hawk's egg, down in the grasses amidst a great field where people didn't ever travel. And that egg hatched into the first kyn, and we were no longer legend." Minya paused a moment, looking down at Aedan with warm yellow eyes.
The human looked back up at his bonded, and offered her a small smile in return. Maybe they would listen, after all. To give them credit, they were all here, had all worked so hard to become who they were. They deserved to know, to be shown.
Finally reassured, Minya turned back to her tale with more enthusiasm. "The story only covers part of the truth." Looking over the group as she paused, the European continued. "We are a species that is ever-changing, ever-growing. I'm sure you've noticed lately that there are so many among you that are not what the older ones are. Lunars and Gargoyles are new to this world, relatively speaking. We are growing."
"Evolving, more precisely," Aedan cut in. "The first kyn was a European, a female, and she is known as the Mother of All - our Mother of All. Maitreya was a great kyn, perhaps even larger than Lorne even."
"Yet it was not her that created us, so to speak. We were, indeed, the product of people's dreams and desires. Their legends and myths, their stories, fueled something. We kyn may be formed by that which we cannot truly ever understand, yet what we come from is magic itself - a degree."
"Creation arises from an excess of great power. The magic of this world, of this land, took the dreams of people and gave it life."
"And we are what that life has created. We are not the first, nor will we be the last."
"Maitreya, she was the first, and I was her boy. And I will see the last."
"She was my great grandmother countless times before myself. For centuries, it has been my and my mother's and my grandmother's responsibility to ensure the survival of the kyn species and our founder. We rise once in our lifetime to mate, and will have one daughter. And when that daughter is old enough and strong enough to support two streams of life, then we pass on. Aedan lives through us, and will continue to do so until we are no more."
Though Minya looked at him fondly, Aedan glanced down. It was a lot to say, and the same fears were still strong within him. They had tried once, to speak of this, and terrible things had resulted. Was Minya going to make Maitreya's mistake?

At Sharketsu's (to Drazio) unprovoked attack, the European stood protectively over Kameko with his wings partially unfurled, teeth bared. He seemed ready to roar, and only calmed (if barely) when Poke intervened. Drazio, guarding his treasure, sat down with one foreleg over Kameko's back and his wing acting as shield. As soon as the danger was gone, he nuzzled her fur, and asked, "What was in it? Did you like it? Do you want more?"
Magnus chuckled, and ducked his head beneath his wing. He pulled something out, and delicately placed it on Myrrh's forepaws. "I..." he started, looked away, then back at Myrrh again, to where he had presented the Pink Heart amulet. "I love you."
((You keep posting plot-stuff before I do! gonk ))
Draconis listened, in rapture, and so did her Kyns. This wasn't something you heard every day. That... Minya was the... what's that word... She shook her head to clear it, and just jumbled it up even more. Draconis held the egg and Alys to her, as she leaned on Blue-Eyed Beast's warm side, intent to learn more.
After Minya was done speaking (more like a pause, but she didn't care) Veigh sighed and stretched herself out on Schnurrbart's lap, belly up. "So this is what it's like when worlds collide?" she said musingly, looking at the sky and feeling the energy emanating from the amulet she had bestowed upon him.

(Excuse my bad French grammar X.X)
This part seemed to have pleased Rosemary.
"Ah, so we're not just imaginary beings. Je suis fait à partir de la magie ? J'aime le bruit de cela. " I'm made from magic? I like the sound of that. Rosemary started humming contently.
"Continue, I think I'm going to like this."
Rowan shook her head. Of all the Kyns she could have received, why did she have to be bonded with such a rude, vain one like Rosemary? Yet she couldn't imagine having any Kyn other then Rosy at the moment. Rowan has only know Rose for 2 days, and she's already starting to feel like her little sister.

poke and her kyn listened intently to the story that was told to them, untill it seemed that the storytellers were done.
"so, it sounds like maitreya was similiar to eve in the bible, if you really thought about it" she thought again. "or she is the guardian of all kyns as you said. And so since the race is evolving...a new species has been created in nickys stone egg?"
"do you know what kind of species of kyn the egg holds?" Taku also asked them. As he said this though his eyes fell on aedan and, something about how he was acting didn't feel right. He seemed worried, concerned even, as if this hole story wasn't as good as it sounded.
Kameko and shiro however, were a little too busy to take much notice of what was happeneing. Shiro was still growing whiel kameko was nuzzeling drazio back. "no, Im very happy with just one flower" she replied.

Myrrh's eyes grew wide at the richly pink amulet placed in her foretalons. Ninja had never hesitated to state that pink was her least favorite color, always citing "the family curse" as the reason. The silver European, though, thought right now that it, and what it represented, was the most beautiful in the world. In the time of a breath, she whirled to face Magnus, reared up until her head was level with his, and kissed him. As she did so, her wings fanned slightly, supposedly for balance. One of them, however, came into contact with Draco's forepaws, gently slipping something, a pulsing red heart, into them. When she could no longer keep her balance, Myrrh dropped back onto all fours. "I love you too, Draco Magnus."
"Maitreya, mother of dragonkind," Ninja murmured to herself. "It fits. Perhaps she was the Sumerians' Tiamat." "First boy?" Kiko's curiosity gave her courage enough to question. "Does that mean that any rider can live as long as they have kyns who are strong enough to lend them life?"

"It's like saying that every kyn here was meant to find their bonded for one reason or another," he was addressing the kyn now, and not the owners, "You all have a purpose for being with who you are, a reason." Aedan's voice wavered at his last word, but Minya covered it up as she jumped in.
"And, you see, it's not just the kyn. The familiars, too, that some of you have. They're a part of you, too."
"Think of it like this," he mused, "Instead of simply hawks, they are better called Kyn Hawks. And they aren't simply rabbits, but Kyn Rabbits. There is more to them than you would think. That's why they make such good companions. They really do understand you." It was almost too similar to what had progressed from before. The inevitable questions would arise, were already starting.
"And the egg, I think it's something entirely different from what we've seen before."
And Kiko's question did come, like he knew it would. Aedan shook his head. "There are limits, and there are reasons." He sighed, finding it difficult to explain or even speak the words. "No, simply. No." His voice was harder than it needed to be.

the whole dicussion was getting quite philosophical, and was starting to stretch the borders of pokes understanding. Though even now, she herself could see that aedan was sounding a little disressted for some reason. Exactly what was going on here?
"umm.." she started, not exaclty sure how to put it in words. "This is also really cool and all but...Is there anything your not telling us? I mean the story was great but, aedan you seem anxious, worried, whatever the word is. Theres gotta be something up here that we dont' know about.
The way that he responded to kiko's question was also something to note. Taku knew that everything must come to a end eventually but, if this was one of the things that was making the stable boy worried then did this have something to do with how long they were to live?

Rosemary stood a bit more proudly, with her chest puffed out.
Thank heaven I was meant for rose then! Rowan thought wincing as rosemary's claws started digging into her scalp again. Or else her mother really would have killed me.
Rowan was silent the whole time. Kyns had only entered her life a few days ago. there were too many questions, and she had no clue how to word any of them.
"So...I chose Rosy from all the other Kyn eggs in the nest...because I was meant too?" That might explain it. The nest she had taken Rosemary from, there were 5 eggs. Why she took the red one, the one farthest away from and wasting time to get it instead of taking the nearest one and ran?
Rowan's never believed in destiny before, so this was all a very confusing thing. Kids raised on a farm were told that Hard work was the only thing guiding their life. What about fate, destiny? their hearts?
Rowan considered Kiko's question and Aedan's response. She noted that Aedan seemed distressed about something.
"What-" her voice faltered for a moment, and she instinctively reached out a hand to pet Rosemary. "What if...one of us die?"
She was bonded to rosemary right? Rowan could almost feel the edges of their soul mixed together. If one of them passes on...what would happen to the other? Rowan was sure a kyn could easily outlive a human...if she died, what would the impact be on Rosemary? What would happen to her beloved little ball of red scales and feathers?

Kiko's short bout of bravery died with Aedan's hard answer. Feeling stupid and foolish for her question, the Japanese curled her neck down, wishing for all the world that she could disappear. Ninja was there by her side, consoling her, stroking the shy kyn's fur. "Shh...It's alright, Kiko. No one should have to live forever, especially with such a burden of responsibility as Aeden and Maitreya's daughters carry. Death is just another adventure." She stopped soothing her first kyn for a moment, saying quietly, more to herself than to Kiko, "I've seen what it's like to live too long, and it's not a future I covet..."

((Cherry, could you please darken your font? It's really, really hard to read.))
Nicky was...surprised, to say the least. "I never really thought of kyn as myths and legends... They've always been re--" She was cut off by her newest kyn, a Lunar hatchling, crawling into her arms and nosing curiously at the egg. "Yes, Aiko... You're real, too." The vixchee smiled and nosed at the little Lunar's ears.

(It is? 0.o My screen must be real dark then xp I see it just fine. I'll switch to Cornflower Blue^^)
Rowan's question seemed to have caught Rosemary off guard.
"Ro, I'll protect you. Je ne laisserai rien vous ai blessé.(I won't let anything hurt you.)" Rosemary spread her white feathered wings and soared down from on top of Rowan's head and into her lap. Looking up at Rowan with large eyes, Rosemary started humming.
But these words didn't reassure Rowan. They could protect each other, their bond will make sure they would do everything to help one another, but death was waiting at the end of the road, and there was no way to stop walking. What would it be like, to have a bonded one pass on? You're souls are merged at the fringes...what would it be like to have that torn away?
"Ro, stop thinking about such sad things. Vous allez me rendre triste aussi.(You're going to make me sad too)" Rowan looked down at the small Kyn and smiled.
"Alright. But can you promise to speak English more often? I don't get what you're saying!"
Thing is, Rowan didn't understand the words. But the meaning went across just fine. A bond between Rider and Kyn...it must be strong.

Tare nodded. "That does explain... things. Familiars arrive in strange fashions, quite often. Midora rescued her hawk from a raccoon, didn't she?" He shook his head. "Just as riders are united with kyn for a reason, familiars and kyn unite for a reason." He scratched his chin and slowly began to move one claw, sculpting tiny figures from mud. "Ganon and Hadus were united because both are militant, and they work well as kyn and rider, protecting others."
He paused, and then his eyes widened. "Aedan! Does this mean that... that if two kyn feel compelled to be together, then it is destined to be so? They are supposed to be together?"
