"See, there are a bunch of different types of kimono. Here's a traditional wedding one.." Mayu pointed to the different pictures on the page, explaining them to the best of her abilities. She then sauntered over to her closet, sliding open the wooden doors to reveal a gargantuan amount of clothing stuffed into a tiny space. She pulled out several kimonos, lifting them up to show Demare before hanging them back onto the rack.
"Well..." the girl thought for a while, "I don't think yours would be too warm, but I guess it would really depend on what you're going to wear beneath it... I'm wearing two more layers of fabric under mine, so I'm sure that mine will get warm later today."
Speaking of which, what was he going to wear underneath that? Mayu's face deadpanned. She had forgot to sew a matching undergarment for the kimono!

Demare blinked a few times, looking at his shirt for a moment, then at the book again. All they wear are... more robes... he realized as he glanced at the picture where it showed all of the layers. Do the guys at least wear...
He couldn't help but blush slightly, shaking his head at the thought of wearing nothing under what Mayu gave him. The pants stay on, he decided, as he began to unbutton his shirt. He figured the black would make it too hot to keep it on under the kimono.
"So... is it... left over right, or right over left?" he asked upon standing, removing the garment from his shoulder and holding it out for a moment.

"It's left-over-right," Mayu replied, taking the obi from Demare as she waited for him to put the kimono on. She couldn't help but giggle slightly as she realized that he was going to wear the fancy-looking robe over his pair of pants. That would be... odd-looking, to say the least.
"Are you going to wear those boots, too?" she asked curiously, a small smile forming on her face. How odd-looking, indeed...

"Is something wrong with my boots?" he smirked, staring down at her for a moment. "I didn't exactly bring anything else."
The teen slipped off his shirt carefully, not really wanting to throw it on the floor. He settled for the bed for the moment, tossing it over as he pulled the 'robe' behind himself. It wasn't until he put his arms through the sleeves that he realized something.
Glancing over his shoulder, his wings flexed a little bit as he tried to figure out how this would work.

"They're fine, I guess," Mayu replied with a small snicker. "And besides, I don't think we have an extra pair of sandals that could fit you."
She instinctively went over to the bed, laying the obi out neatly before wringing out the shirt and folding it into a neat rectangle. When she looked back over to Demare, her face took on a blank expression once more.
"....uh." Crap. Being so preoccupied with trying to get the length of the kimono right, Mayu had completely forgot about Demare's wings! She glanced over to the nightstand, where her sewing kit was lying still in a mess. No scissors... Kimiko must have taken them for some reason and not placed them back.
"I'll be right back!" the child called over her shoulder, running out of her room in a hurry as she tried to figure out where the cutting utensils could possibly be. Of course, she had forgotten something important --- she had left the door wide open on her way out.
"Ah, eff this," the elf grumbled as she made her way out of her room with a pounding headache. The sugar rush had been fun, admittedly, but the headache and tiring aftereffects were not fun at all. She shuffled past Mayu's bedroom slowly, flickering a glance into the room before continuing.
Wait, was that... Miyu almost strained her neck from the sudden whiplash, turning around suddenly to peer back into the room. In an instant, she forgot all about her headache, clutching her stomach as she laughed uproariously at the situation in front of her.

Demare helplessly watched as Mayu left, trying to keep his arms up enough to prevent the kimono from completely slipping on. Not that it would have been a BAD thing, but it would be uncomfortable with his wings being contained in a way. His ears twitched a little bit as he began to hear laughter, his cheeks burning bright red as he quickly turned around to see that the door was still wide open. CRAP.
He stared at the woman with blank eyes, having never learned this one's name before. For a moment, the halfling couldn't figure out whether to start laughing himself or to be angry that she found this predicament amusing. He wasn't there for entertainment, after all. He thought he would just be getting Mayu and then leaving. Settling on an expression, he narrowed his eyes at the elf a little bit, frowning slightly.
"This isn't funny," he said plainly, his shoulders slouching a little bit. His wings shifted behind him, trying to find more space. Demare could feel his arms beginning to strain, since he needed to hold them so far back... Perhaps putting the kimono on one arm at a time would have been wiser. "In fact, it kind of hurts..."

"You should see yourself!" Miyu grinned, leaning against the open door. "It's not funny for you, maybe, but this is hilarious for me~!"
She glanced down the hallway, as if she was waiting for someone. Suddenly, her facial expression changed to one of urgency, waving frantically to usher over another girl to the doorway.
"What, what?" Q griped, joining Miyu's side. She was holding her head with one hand, apparently experiencing the aftereffects of a sugar rush as well. She watched the elf frantically point inside the room for a few moments before turning her head to see what all the fuss was about.
"...Oh my," she muttered, biting her lip as a chuckle escaped from her mouth. She soon doubled over with laughter, one hand groping for the camera that hung from her neck.
"This is going to look great on the front page of my blog!" she exclaimed, hands still shaking from laughter as she took a snapshot of Demare.
"Guys, cut it out!" Mayu returned just at that moment, wielding a formidable-looking pair of scissors in one hand as she shooed away the two, still laughing, with the other.
"Sorry for those two," she apologized, shutting the door. She strolled over to face Demare's back, grabbing a piece of chalk from her nightstand to mark the places that she would cut open.
"...Um, could you kneel down a bit? You're kind of tall..." Mayu was struggling to draw the lines on the back of the kimono, even at her fully raised height by standing on her tiptoes.

His eyes began to twitch as another girl joined the elf, and then he growled as they took a picture. Idiots!! Insensitive JERKS. It was at that very moment that he decided he didn't like Mayu's family in the slightest, and it would probably take a lot for him to even think about giving them a second chance. At least HIS family didn't take embarressing pictures of him. (Well, as far as he knew.)
Demare grunted softly as Mayu apologized for them, continuing to glare at the door. He could still hear their laughter from the other side...
"Hm?" His thoughts were interrupted by the request. "Oh, er... sorry..."
The tall teen dropped down to his knees once more, his arms twitching a little bit. Idly, he hoped this wouldn't take much longer, wanting to remove the kimono so his arms and shoulders could relax.
"I'm... a little surprised, actually," he said, recalling that the girl had said she'd made the clothing herself. "Of all the things you could have forgotten to do, you seemed to have forgotten about my wings."
Actually, it was a little funny. The robe seemed to be just about the right length, and it looked as though it would be a perfect fit. Right height, correct sleeve length, shoulder room... Perhaps she'd been so concerned about his new frame that she'd simply forgotten about the wings. Demare started to chuckle a little.

Mayu drew two straight lines down the back of the kimono where Demare's wings would come out, then dropped her utensils. She grabbed onto the sleeves of the kimono with both hands, pulling back as hard as she could. She fell back with aplomb on the soft pink rug beneath her, the robe billowing in midair for several seconds before drifting down slowly to completely cover the girl.
There was a moment of frantic kicking and grabbing before Mayu finally managed to poke her head out from under the kimono. She laid it out flat on the ground, cutting down the lines where she had drawn.
"That should be better now," she grinned, standing herself up and holding the kimono up by the sleeves to hand to Demare. She glanced towards the floor, a little embarrassed.
"I guess I did, didn't I? But at least I had made the kimono the right size. I wouldn't be able to fix it so easily if I had made it too small or too big."

Demare had quickly turned around as he heard Mayu fall over, a bit baffled over why she'd pulled the kimono off so hard. He was going to ask if she was okay, but she seemed fine as she corrected herself and did what she needed to do so he sat back a little on his feet while he waited.
He took the fixed robe with a smile, but frowned as she looked down. He didn't mean to make anything of it, only meaning what he'd said as a comment rather than critizism. Pulling in one arm at a time this around, the halfling managed to get the kimono on, carefully threading his wings through the holes in the back to make sure they didn't tear the material.
"I think you did a wonderful job, Mayu," he said as he tucked a finger underneath the girl's chin and tilted her head upward. "You've got a nice talent, making something like this."
He stood up once more, adjusting the kimono so that it sat right against his body, pulling the front closed so that Mayu could help him with the obi.
"So... how does it look?"

"You think so?" she blushed, giving a small embarrassed smile. Once Demare had pulled the kimono back on, Mayu went back over to the bed and picked up the obi, standing on tip-toes to tie it around his waist.
She finished off the knot quickly, dropping back to her normal height with a sigh of relaxation. Standing like that for a while really did hurt her feet.
Mayu strolled back around to his front, gazing him up and down appraisingly before giving a thumbs-up.
"Now we're ready to leave," she grinned, checking that she had not left anything behind in the room before swinging open the door. She started down the hallway, stopping to wait for Demare at the stairs before she went down.

The halfling couldn't help but feel a little awkward, the kimono feeling fairly light to him. The material wasn't like anything he was used to wearing, not breathing as easily as regular cotton did. It certainly would take some getting used to, and for Mayu, he would bare it until then.
Following after the tree girl, Demare closed the door to her room behind him, immediately trying to figure out where to put his hands afterwards. Normally, he'd shove them into his pockets for lack of anything else to do with them. However, his pockets were no longer reachable... Idly, he crossed his arms, sticking his hands inside the brown sleeves.
"So... should we have the picnic first, or go to the viewing?" he asked curiously, not really sure if there was a lot to carry or anything. If there wasn't too much, they could probably do the sakura viewing first, but if there was a lot, having lunch might be easier.
He began to wish he had some sort of vehicle for things like this.

"It depends," Mayu replied, taking the stairs down two at a time and doing a bunny hop off of the last stair. "Are you hungry or not?"
She looked around the living room, realizing that Kimiko was still not back in the house yet. Oh well, at least they would have an easier time getting outside. The girl went over to the counter, pulling her sleeve back and sliding the two baskets onto her arm. Although large and bulky-looking, they were actually rather light.
Mayu skipped onwards to the front door, opening it up a crack and looking in both directions before stepping out onto the porch. No Kimiko out in the front yard, either. She was probably still caught in the bushes by the kitchen, then.

His fingers idly toyed with the loose bandages around his wrists. Should he have taken them off? Would it look weird to keep them on? He was just being nervous, and he couldn't figure out why. This was Mayu. She was no different from before. She hadn't changed in the slightest.
...But he had. Despite their last meeting going so well, there was still the fact that Demare was now older, so his affections were quite different than from how things started. Back then, it was looked upon as being "cute" and "innocent". Now? He was just constantly afraid of doing something wrong. Not that he hadn't before, but the teen actually cared about what the girl did and did not want, what she thought about things, how she felt about things...
He shook his head, his left hand releasing his wrist to brush his one long locke of red hair behind his ear. The tips were still a darkened color, having been left from a desperate attempt to wash out the black dye Demian tried to use last week.
"It's up to you, really," he finally said, stopping behind Mayu to wait for her to open the door fully. "Besides, I asked what you wanted to do first. If you're hungry, we could go to the park and have lunch first."

Mayu hopped down onto the path leading to the sidewalk, spinning around to face Demare.
"No, I'm not hungry," she chimed, "but we should eat first if you are! It's not really fair for me to make you go to the viewing if you're hungry, is it?"
A shuffle in the bushes made the girl look up, catching her guard. She started down the sidewalk quickly, gesturing for Demare to follow. "We can decide on the way! There's not going to be a date if Kimiko catches us!"
Perhaps she was just being too paranoid; the noise could have been made by a squirrel or some small animal like that. But still, it was better to be safe than sorry. Mayu paced down the sidewalk quickly, slowing for a moment to allow Demare to catch up. After all, she was still a bit unfamiliar with the city. If she was leading the way, they would probably walk the entire city twice around before she realized her mistake.
