Harry Potter threw himself into the closest carriage, hoping that Ron and Hermione would find him. A small girl in the corner blushed and pushed herself further away from Harry and Hedwig. He pulled his hat over his forehead and slumped over.
For the life of him, he couldn't think of why those second year girls would have chased him, but he was glad he lost them. He supposed the ordeal at the Ministry of Magic was still fresh in the young, impressionable minds and they wanted- well, he didn't know what. An autograph, perhaps? He grumbled and shook his head, and his petite carriage mate looked terrified.
In any case, she seemed quiet enough, so he was happy with that. On the train, he hadn't much time to think- students consistently knocking on the compartment door because they "lost their cat," which Harry found odd until Hermione patiently explained they were trying to see him. It wasn't a good indicator of how the rest of the year was going to go.
So, I'm famous again.
(OOC: It's been a while for me, so I hope this is okay. And the girl can be the OC or just some random kid, I don't know.)

Tal looked up when Harry leapt in, smiling a bit. She traded spots with the shy second year, and pulled Harry's hat off his head. "They're chasing you? You really should try to use your invisibility cloak. You have no idea how many girls I've heard wondering if you'd go out with them."
She played with Hedwig a bit, her eyes still on Harry. Sure, she had a crush on Harry, but she was an expert at keeping secrets. Her smile slowly dissapeared, and she began to contemplate on what had happened at the ministry. Though she hadn't been there, she knew about it. And for that reason, she was thankful to Harry. The Fifth Year looked at the emerald pendant on her neck, holding back tears.
It was too late, they spilled down her cheeks, and as she wiped them away, a small smile appeared on her lips. Her hyperactive kitten mewed to comfort her, and she ignored him. Why, why did you have to kill her to get to me? You knew I wasn't there!
Ron appeared at the carriage, opening the door and grinning as he found Harry. Completely ignoring Tal, he sat in front of Harry, waving his hand to get his attention. Ron's ears turned red as he acknowledged Tal's presence. He struggled not to look at her, for fear of seeing her cry. Hermione had noted that Tal had seemed sadder than that of a first year, and he had noticed that she had cried a lot. "Hey, mate, I think we should get out of here. You've depressed one and you haven't even said a word."
Ron's eye's kept sliding to Tal, and his ears turned an even brighter shade of red as he relized that Tal was staring at him. Her eyes seemed to peer into his very soul. It was extremely unnerving. Why did she seem so drawn into herself? It was always a bit odd, even for someone who had been victimized by He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named... er, Voldemort.
[Ooc: Well, that went well. I hope I did alright. I'm not very good at opening posts. Tal seems all emotional now.]

Harry balked at the idea of girls wanting to go out with him- girls he hadn't even talked to. How did they know he wasn't stupid? He scoffed at Tal after a moment of contemplation.
"I'll go out with a girl who will give the time of day to get to know me beyond what they print in Witch Weekly." He realized he probably wouldn't go out with just any girl like that, but Tal had already drifted off into her own world, looking out the window, as she was oft to do. Harry didn't mind, he liked the quiet. She seemed sad, though.
Ron entered and made some comment about Harry making Tal cry, which Harry punched him for (but softly). The carriages started moving.
"Where's Hermione?" Harry asked, realizing they were leaving without her.

((Since aparently the person who was going to play Hermione has niether posted nor answered my PMs, he/she has been cut from the roleplay. Continue on at the pace you are going and I will join back in once you are all seated in the Great Hall. I'll come up with an explanation for Hermione's absence then and have Sevvie--erm...I mean Severus tell you why she has not yet come.))

(I can do her for now, if that's cool with everyone. I think we need a Hermione, personally. I don't mind doing it until someone wants to, or indefinitely.)

((If you'd like to play her as well, that'd be fine. You can temp for her until we get more people interested and then decide if you want to play her for the entire time. I might double as a made-up myself.))

Ron glared at Harry, rubbing the spot where he had punched him. "What was that for? You haven't relized that she was crying? What'd you do to her?" He looked at Tal again, who had drifted away into a different world once more. What in the world was wrong with her? But, she was a lot like Harry, save for being all depressed.
He shrugged at the Hermione comment, and continued his relentless glaring at Harry. It wasn't until Pig started hooting that he ceased. And the hyperactive little owl was dead afraid of Midoy. The kitten simply mewed happily and curled up into a little ball. Ron chuckled a bit, amused by the happy-go-lucky kitten. Of course, Midoy was a bit psycotic...
There was no sign of Malfoy, and this gladdened Ron. The git might not bother them. He snapped out of his daze and turned to Qudditch. "I forgot, you're Quidditch Captain. When are you holding tryouts?" The red haired Sixth Year was eager to know, considering that he was hoping, no, praying to become Keeper.
Tal kicked Ron in the shins, yes, it was soft, but she did hurt him a bit. She glared at Ron with her evil, unnerving way. "He didn't do anything, so I suggest you drop it." Her voice dripped with an evil vehemence that was plain scary. Ronald, you had better watch out... Tal has ways of being evil enough, without jinxing you.
"Oh Harry, they've all probably got Love Potions from Fred and George. I'm pretty sure they work, too." She smiled softly, and picked Midoy up, despite his hisses of protest. Oh, dear litte, insane kitten, you cannot play when the carriages are in motion, you know that. Midoy finally landed in his carrying case, only allowing his nose to peek out.
Upon Ron mentioning Quidditch, she perked up. "Oh yeah, when are you holding tryouts?" She desperatly wanted to join, not because of Harry, but because she loved the sport. of course, she'd love if Harry would go out with her, but that was only wishful thinking. It was immensly nice to think of it like that...

(It's up to you, Lunas. I you want to play Hermione then go ahead. I haven't seen yin yang's writing so I can't judge who should get the part. I think that since playing three people at once might become too strenuous, you should allow yin yang to play Hermione; but like I said it's up to you. Sort it out between the two of you and let me know who's going to play her.)

(Well, I'd only be playing two, but I only offered 'cause I think she's necessarily. If yin-yang doesn't show up soon I'll pick her up temporarily.)
"Love potions?" Harry asked moodily. "Doubtful. But thanks. I know what they're after, I've been dealing with this since before I hit puberty..." he trailed off, grumbling something that sounded like 'not that I like it...'
Absently reaching to scratch the kitten in Tal's arms, Harry brightened considerably at the word 'quidditch.' "Tryouts, of course, are when Madame Hooch decides, but they should be within the first couple weeks of school. All that time alone at the Dursleys- you wouldn't believe the stuff I came up with. Provided we get the right players, winning this year should be the easiest it's ever been."
He reached for his bag, which had all of his plan books in it- he had been lonely this summer- but the carriage was slowing down.

Oh no oh no oh no oh no!
Hermione was practically jumping up and down with a mixture of anticipation and guilt. Since she had missed the train, she had had to write to Professor Dumbledore by owl, and since she hadn't had an owl, she had to rent one at Diagon Alley.
It's a good thing that Professor Dumbledore wrote back so soon... I don't know what I'd do otherwise... I can't believe I'm not on the train right now... I hope Harry and Ron aren't too worried...
Professor Dumbledore had written back to give her instructions on how to have her parents drive her, and assured her that he would place a delayed Memory Charm on them, so that they would forget about the whereabouts of Hogwarts.
"Oh, I'm so excited! We'll finally get to see what your school... looks... like....."
As they pulled up to the familiar school grounds, her mother fell silent in shock.
"Well, it certainly looks... charming... have a good year, Hermione."
"I will, mum. Thanks!"
She gathered her things, and walked up towards the main steps. She sat down, waiting for the carriage to come, and to face Harry and Ron...
((Sorry for the last time... It won't happen again))

(( Don't worry about it. Just stay active and all shall be well. wink ))
"What are you doing here early?"
A woman, probably in her late twenties, walked up beside Hermione, smiling as she knew she probably scared the poor thing half to death. She had short black hair which fell into her strikingly bright green eyes. She was very pretty, dressed in a black long-sleeved shirt, a long black skirt, and some matching boots. She had a silver belt that hung around her curvy hips, a silver chain around her neck with a pendant featuring a coiled snake with emerald jewel eyes and a ruby tongue. The fitted turtleneck accentuated her femanine figure, not at all unpleasing to the eyes; though still classy and modest in style.
She looked down at the brown-haired fifth year, raising an eyebrow inquisitively. Her bold green eyes caught Hermione's chocolate-hued ones. A look of recognition crossed the young woman's features. "Oh, are you Miss Granger? Ah, Dumbledore told me about your little mishap." The lady had an American accent when she spoke and before the Gryffindor would have a chance to say anything, she spoke again.
"Oh, forgive me; you must think I'm rude. I am Professor Wolff. I am the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher here. I've heard much about you from the staff and I've not been here a week. You must make quite an impression on your teachers, Miss Granger."

Hermione jumped at the sound of her own name, but was quickly reassured by the calming tone of the woman's voice. It was a pleasant, mezzo-soprano voice, and she was very smartly dressed.
American? That's a new one... and why isn't she dressed in the uniform? Unless she's going to change...
"Oh! Why, yes, I am. Pleased to meet you, Professor Wolff. I hope you enjoy it at Hogwarts. I know I have."
And then the job title caught up to her.
"Defense Against the Dark Arts? Sorry if I'm a bit tactless, but you do know the ominousness of that office, don't you? It sounds strange, I know, but I get a good vibe from you, and I don't want to lose you after just one year. I'm sure you have so much to offer, education-wise, from all of your travelings. I detect an American accent, am I not mistaken?
((P.S. Starting on weekdays, I shall only be available in the late afternoon/early evening, Hawaii time, because of school and whatnot. Just giving you all a head's up.))

[Ooc: Ron is being ignored now, because he's... silently cursing Tal... which is failing.]
Tal grinned slightly, ignoring that Midoy had escaped his basket. "Harry, are they extremely... erm... rash? I don't want to stoop to the level of a Slytherin..." She smiled at Harry, eyes brightening from her usual sorrowful demeanor. The was when her pendant decided to begin glowing. Tal blushed and quickly smothered the glow.
Why did it have to glow? Why did it have to be like that. Though the 'gem' was one that could grant her every wish, exept for a select few, it glowed every time her emotions changed. Hopefully, Harry hadn't noticed it, for she didn't want to explain her past to him. The moment he hears, it'll be all over the school. What happened this summer... At least the Ministry was kind enough not to put it in the paper...
She relized Midoy had escaped, and quickly scooped him up, pretending nothing had happened. There was no other emotion other than a slight bit of nervousnes, but no one could see that.

Professor Wolff smiled, glad to know that she would have this bright young pupil as her student. "I already do. Everyone's been so nice around here. All the teachers have introduced themselves and made me feel right at home. Well," she paused slightly, "almost everyone. There's this one teacher, a tall dark-haired man, who gave me one look and walked off. I asked the headmaster but he just smiled at me and said that he wasn't sociable." Giana rolled her eyes, wondering how someone could dislike another person without even properly meeting them. 'It's not nice to be so judgemental', she thought to herself.
The professor realized that the Gryffindor was talking to her and she had to mentally shake herself to pull out of her reverie. It took her a moment to digest what she said. "Oh, never you mind. I'm certain I will be here a good long while." She smiled as Hermione mentioned her accent. "Well, I was born in Chicago, Illinois. I spent the early years of my childhood in Chicago, and when I turned eleven I went to a witchcraft school (quite similar to this, except a bit more laid back) called Netelhurst in Michigan. After school I traveled all over the world and went to several different wizarding colleges. Just this summer I got an owl from Dumbledore and now I'm here."
She leaned against the stone wall of the castle as she heard the sound of thestral hooves slowely approaching. Giana seemed quite excited about starting her first year of teaching. She was very passionate about her field and hoped that she could properly prepare her students for what lies ahead. She glanced back at Hermione. "I do hope you all enjoy my lessons. I have a, hopefully, interesting year planned for us. I have to go inside now, so I'll see you around; Miss Granger."
