Return... would he? It was warmer here. He had to fend for himself here. But there weren't as many humans here. And then, there were those other reasons... Food, a hot commodity. Did he always end up in things revolving around food? He guessed after all meetings being similar in that aspect, it'd be a bit wierd if it didn't.

"I don't know if there still is one," Mo said light-heartedly. "And aside from going hungry, there are a lot of things to experience around here. ...and things you can hide and hide from. It might be a bit lonely from time to time but it's worth it. Right?"

Zahi thought about what he said for a moment. Was it worth it? "...true. I think I would say it's worth it," he said with a grumble. Obviously he agreed, but knew that there were troubles. "It's harder, but good to live how you want. And do what you want without havin' to worry about royals." He wrinkled his nose at the though. Though he had never delt with royals, he had heard a few stories through his travels about odd situations, and it seemed like much more trouble then it was worth. Especially if females had some of the power too.

His ear twitched, again, thinking about it. He didn't understand how anyone could trust them, but then again, he had good reasons to have trust issues, being kicked out just for being male. It angered him, but he couldn't do much about it, and wouldn't bother to bring it up unless his new buddy was really curious. Though it was kind of embarassing, and not very manly. His braid was manly though, oh yes.

"...Royals?" this guy didn't like royals? Well, all the ones Mo knew didn't live in this area -if they even still lived at all- but those ones had been alright. How different could they be just because they're in a different location? Maybe he just meant the whole issue of rules: royals make the rules, the pride follows the rules, and the rogues do whatever pleases them. Worth it ....not worth it. His figurative scale was getting worn out.

Perhaps if Mo had been female coming from the backround that he did, he might have pryed more. Would have commented about the braid. Was it a warrior tradition where Zahi came from? If he had been a dreamer, he might have gone off on a tangent trying to guess Zahi's past. But he was neither. He wasn't a very interesting lion at all. Mo waved his tail lazily, letting it thump against the ground lightly.

"Some shade would be good," he said realizing just how lethargic the heat of the sun was making him. "What do you think?"

Zahi nodded, and slowly made his way towards an area that carried shade. Trees, though they were a little bit of a walk away, would give ample shade for the both of them, plus extra room.

He decided to talk a bit about why he didn't like royals. "Royals, or leaders that I've dealt with, act like they're everything." His tail twitched as he glanced over to Mo, his braid swinging suddenly from the movement. "I'd rather make my own decisions. Espeically since leaving a very....controlling pack."

Moyenda followed Zahi to the shade, glad he hadn't lost what company he currently had.... yet.

He couldn't remember too much about royals but he probed his brain for an intelligent answer. "Yes, I suppose power easily goes to one's head ...and of course, royals have all the power in prides." He nodded his head thoughtfully. "Controlling? Sounds like you've had some tough times."

Zahi settled himself down on the soft savannah grasses, getting himself comfortable for a good rest. He didn't feel quite sleepy yet, but he knew that it would be smart to let the food he just ate digest a bit before he did anything else. So now he would settle in and chat with this stranger that was slowly growing into an aquaintance.

"Well, you curious enough to know? It's not too thrilling, but something to talk about," he stated calmly, confident enough in his history to not be too bothered by it. not that he trusted females, but hey, there was always a chance for change.

Moyenda sat down next to him but not close enough to be intruding upon personal boundaries. He looked up at the trees that offered them the shade and then looked back down. Families and pasts were always rough subjects for him to venture into and like in most cases, was very analytical about bring up such things. He wasn't very exposed in such an area to have a knowledge of what was good or not, only what he believed to be other creatures' personalities and then hypothesizing what they might do in response. But the lion seemed to be offering it up so he obviously couldn't mind too much.

"Sure, if you don't mind." Moyenda replied, sure it'd at least be interesting enough to pass the time.

Zahi gave his limbs a good stretch, shifting his weight around a bit before beginning. He would keep it a little summed up, but enough to give Moyenda a grasp of himself.

"Well, I was picked up by a small band of lioness' when I was just a cub. They treated me well enough, but once my mane began to grow in....they ah....sure didn't like me too much." His claws pierced into the ground as they flexed, controlling his anger. They loved him, but just as soon hated him once they realised that their 'kid' was not a girl, but a boy. "They kept me around to mess with for a while, until it was too much." He gave out a yawn, forcing himself to relax instead of get riled up. "And so I've been alone since. I enjoy it more then what I've dealt with. Females aren't trustworthy." His tail lashed behind him, once, being the only outward view of his anger.

Someday he should get over it, but for now, it was still fresh in his mind.

Moyenda nodded at Zahi's story, absorbing it into thought. The guy sounded like he had a rather rough time. But for growing up with females the lion was still rather manly.

"I understand how you could hate them from turning you out. But for saying that females aren't trustworthy, I think that's rather biased. I'm not trying to be mean or push my opinion on you. You can totally disregard this if you want to but well, females aren't all like that. Some are really nice and caring. Hmmm, how can I sum it up? Flirtateous girls are not worth the time. They probably just want something. Genuine girls are the ones who are either flat out mean - they're not afraid to speak their mind. And also girls who are nice. Not overly nice, they're probably faking it. But the girls who are nice but afraid to pry. I ...well, it seems like I've done a better job at convincing myself. Females are really confusing. Let's put it that way. But I don't think they're altogether untrustworthy..."

Wow. Maybe it would have been better if he had said nothing at all. He was close to upsetting the guy, most likely. He needed to take a trip to Oz to get a brain ...badly.

Zahi blankly stared at Moyenda, trying to understand just what he was saying. Instead of getting mad, instead he laughed as the other crawled around his words, seeming to confuse himself, if only a little bit.

"That might be right, but my opinion won't change 'til I come across one." He let out a light growl, hoping that if he did indeed come across a nice female, it wouldn't be for a while. He wasn't up to switching his views on things, and was quite pleased with his hatred, even if it seemed quite petty in other's eyes. "If I come across one."

He wanted to switch the topic, but wasn't quite sure how, so he looked over to Moyenda, hoping he'd pick up something to talk about. "Anything....interesting with you?"

"Well, alright," Moyenda replied. Not like he could force his views on another anyway. This lion, as he had thought to himself earlier, should be at the head of a pride, or at least a family, seeming rather like the strong dad type. Regardless, there was little more Moyenda could do.

Ah, the subject of conversation had arrived: Moyenda. Only, he wasn't really that interesting. At least he didn't think so. "Well, currently, nothing interesting is happening to me. ...Well, I suppose since you told me your story, I'll tell you mine. Way up north, there are swamplands right near the ocean and the waterbuffalo wander about aplenty. There was a pride way up north, at least a month's journey from here, my pride. My parents were at the head of it but the wasting sickness hit, a horrible disease where your body's eaten inside out by who knows what. It could be weeks before you know you have it. Anyway, I'm almost a whole generation younger than my two siblings and the weakling. We left because of this plague that had struck, my mother, siblings, and I. My mother died soon after from the disease. Then my sister left. And then, my brother left me. So I was forced to survive on my own. You'd think survival would teach me a thing or two. Guess not." He laughed at the end of his tale. He felt extremely foolish in telling it and summed it up as much as he could. Moyenda looked down at his feet as his laughter began to sound weak and then died altogether. "Yea... that's pretty much it..."

Zahi listened politely, a bit interested in what had happened. Not very good at all. "I would say your story is more morbid then mine, Moyenda." He laughed lightly, hoping to perk up this friend of his.

"Have you ever dared to find your sibilings again?" It was a simple question, but one that could really change the path that someone chose. Zahi himself never wanted to see anyone from his past again, and thus made the decision to keep his path a very solitary one. Moyenda seemed too meek to take a huge step in his life, especially if he seemed to make his story not seem too important.

Moyenda let out a nervous laugh at Zahi's question. "I've never bothered searching. I've just sort of wandered around since I was left alone. I really don't know what I'd say to them or anything like that." It was true. What would his brother say to him anyways other than to remind him how worthless he had been and probably still was? It wouldn't have been worth it. Then he smiled, remembering. "Well, actually I met my niece. Odd thing is she's almost my age. To think that my sister probably got pregnant right after she ran off. And then my niece found me, expected me to be awesome. Bet that was a huge disappointment for her..."

As a matter of fact, his niece was outwardly opposite of him: determined, strong, and stubborn. The only thing they shared in common was the need to be part of a family or community. That and someone they had known was dead, his sister, her mom.
PostPosted: Fri Mar 02, 2007 12:55 pm

"Oh?" was all that Zahi said at first. Well, at least he knew he still had some family left out there. "And the disappointment would be her own fault, if she had never met you before." He kept his remarks about her to that, and instead turning an older question back onto Moyenda, as well. "Well..." he started out, but soon shut his mouth. He didn't know how to ask, so instead dropped it.

"Sorry, forgot what I was going to ask. Oh well. Would you ever move into a pride, if living on your own is so hard?"

He thought to himself about prides. He had met a few lions from prides and they were ok. But would he ever bother to join one? "Well, as hard as living on my own is, I don't know if a pride would take me. I don't have harvestable skills that they would desire." It was quite true. He supposed he worked well in a team or unit but not very well alone. He also occasionally accidentally pushed the wrong buttons.

Moyenda didn't know what else he should said and looked off to the side at the ground near his paws in contemplation.
