Shade in the Shadow Durrypoo, was not actually wrong with the information. Except on a few points. Thrash did NOT spawn from hardcore, it spawned from the punk bands of the seventies/early eighties. So bands like The Dead Kennedys, The Misfits, The Clash, even. Had a big influence on thrash. Now, death metal, is not really a spawn of thrash only, but also black metal. Metalcore is a somewhat of a sub-genre of metal. Some bands, i.e. Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, fall in the more metal than hardcore category. Oh, yea, I forgot about that. D: But also, from reading the Sub-genres topic in the main Metal forum(written by Tech diff) I remember that thrash did take influence from Hardcore-punk - but that was later on -, I got it mixed. sweatdrop And correct me if I'm wrong, but from listening to early Death Metal(Obituary and Deicide) and comparing them to Thrash Metal bands(Slayer and Metallica) and to Black Metal bands(Venom) doesn't Death Metal seem more simmilar to Thrash than to Black? That's why I called it it's son. This topic gave me more hunger for early Death Metal, I can't wait for my Accept to finish re-downloading so I can start a new task(and I have decided that it will be Morbid Angel).

Valas Hume, the death metal you're thinking of would be more Melodic Death, than just Death. That is true, I was thinking the more melodic deathmetal bands. I have such a love/hate relationship with deathmetal. Well, most deathmetal you hear now a days. I do miss days when Cannibal Corpse was still good, Deicide was good (i don't like the new deicide at all), Morbid Angel, Immolation, etc. A lot of new deathmetal bands feel cliched
