The Unseelie Queen

It was a strange chance
That let me gaze upon the Queen of Faery Nights
Like when a butterfly lands upon your finger
A once in a lifetime event
Stumbling through the forest
Finally landing hard upon my knees
My head snapped up in pain
And when my eyes opened
I spied an alabaster face
With a garnet lipped smile
While onyx magick gleamed in her eyes
A compulsion, like a knife to your throat
Brought me to my aching feet
Where I curtsied like a leaf
Wilting to the power of the Sun
Andais, Queen of Air and Darkness
Said a voice both like wood reeds
And crystalline chimes
She leaned forward and pressed her gem lips
Against my pale and sweating brow
Blessed by the Queen of the Unseelie Court
What gift would she give you?
Even now, years later, I still retain her gift
And when the wind blows
I alone am privy to its songs
At least... within the Human realm

I wrote this for my Senior Anthology project, which is basically a large scrapbook. You get to choose a theme and find poems, write them, draw pictures, find lyrics, magazine articles, newspaper articles, etc... So as my theme I chose 'Sisceal' which in Irish is Fairy Tales. But I like the Court faery tales more than childish ones. ^^
