Nostalgia stared at him with her gentle eyes. Draven seemed to be trying to convince himself moreso than her, from the looks of things, and she wondered what mare he was referring to. Tilting her head at an angle, she continued to watch him curiously. If he had a mate, and they were seperated, he would surely miss her. She knew the feeling; she missed Jean-Claude terribly, and hated having him apart from her.
"Creatures like.... her?" She asked, her mind forming countless images in her head, "Was she a different type of Soquili? Where did you last see her?"
He continued on with his theory of why she was empty, and it brought the smile back to her face with his wise words. "A friend. I would like that very much... very much indeed. Most of the creatures I've met are very pleasant and nice, but none are the kind of creature I would be able to just.. sit down and talk with. They carry on with their busy lives, and I just feel like a burden. Do you know what I mean, Draven?" Her voice quieted down, feeling humiliated for revealing one of her deeper secrets. "Ever since I came to this land, I just feel like I'm an emotional burden. That others only listen and have me around because they feel like they need to, not because they want to. Maybe I'm overreacting, but it doesn't feel like it."
Her head turned away from his direction, and she let out a deep sigh, the warmth of her breath sending a puff out into the cold air.

He took a deep breath, releasing it slowly as if in doing so he could pause the world. "The pure, innocents who have done no wrong... Who have loved others as much as they are loved by others; those who would have given their all for everything." His mate. The mare who had been the embodiment of kindness to everyone, himself included.
He shook his head slowly, letting his head drop once more. "Before the fire... Not even one of those demon steeds could have withstood the blaze that swept the land. She smiled and reminded me that she'd be watching the sunrise in the morning." A soft smile curved his lips once more. "She would be upset if she knew I'd forgotten that no sunrise is ever viewed alone..."
Once more he looked to the mare standing beside him from the corner of his eye. "Yes, I know what you mean. It seems strange to walk through the land of the living when, at times, it doesn't feel as if I am alive at all. Day after day it is the same; roaming, wandering, with sleep somewhere in between." He sighed. "I, too, would like a friend."

She could tell from his expression and words how dearly he loved her, and it was obvious from his tone that he missed her terribly. Her ears perked up as he mentioned a large fire... had his lover passed away from this world and onto the next? If so, why would she remind him of the sunrise?
It hurt her, seeing this stranger saddened. She didn't know why, but it did, and she longed to encourage him, and brighten up his mood. It surprised her to see his mouth form into a smile, and she shook her own head as he commented about his love being upset.
"I'm sure she understands, Draven." was all that she could respond with. She didn't know his mate, she didn't know him, and words failed her, not for the first time in her life. She wished she could say more, but she knew better than to prattle on like other mares she knew who had nothing important to say.
Nos couldn't help but let out a chuckle as he mentioned not feeling alive. Was she herself technically alive? She was formed into a spirit, or, as more widely known as 'ghost', from her very beginning, and she pondered at the thought. It was very obvious from the soft glow that emancipated from around her body that she was... abnormal, but perhaps things were changing since she had begun to communicate with the living outside of her duties? It was obvious enough, from the beings evolving within her womb, that something had happened to her 'ghostliness', but she hadn't the faintest idea as to what had occurred. Was she becoming a 'living' Soquili herself? Or was it the Spirits decision to allow her to bear children of her own, as she had always wished?
Two or three of her long dark braids fell down to the side of her face, and she did her best to ignore the tickle as the hair brushed against her cheek. "Maybe we were created with the purpose to wander," she thought outloud, wondering if that was to be her fate. "At least now we know we're not alone in wandering, right? It makes me feel more at peace, personally, knowing I'm not the only one feeling the same feelings. Perhaps that makes us friends now, Draven?"

The fire had taken her... But the last he had seen of her was just before that. He had gone away and just before he'd left she had reminded him that they would always be together beneath the sun. It was a memory he had carried with him durring all of his travels; a beautiful memory.
"Quite possibly. Afterall, someone must wander somewhere." He chuckled softly. "It isn't all that bad... In wandering you find others who wander and form some sort of comradery. You find out that you aren't alone, no matter how often you find yourself thinking that you are...."
He found himself smiling. "You are right. We aren't alone in wandering. I believe that does make us friends, Nostalgia. It is good to have a friend again."

"Yes indeed... what a good thing to have." She said quietly in response.
Her lips curved upwards, and she gave him a small smile before turning back towards the sun, which was making it's slow way up high into the sky.
She was glad to have a friend, she truly was. It was a different feeling for her, knowing that she was no longer alone in her wandering, despite the fact she wandered physically by herself most evenings. She wished Jean was more thoughtful and would walk with her, but she quickly berated herself for thinking poorly of her mate. She was just so frustrated as of lately, not seeing him like she used to. It didn't help that the foals within her were growing more and more each day, and the pressure they put on her stomach was anything but comfortable. She had felt alone, with this burden of hers to bear by herself, but now she felt less lonely as she kept Draven's words in her mind. Perhaps things would turn out better than she believed they would, after all.

The caw of a crow nearby caught him offguard, causing him to laugh as his companion landed by his feet. "I seem to have forgotten this particular friend. Nostalgia, this is Crow. Crow has been my companion since the fires. He goes where I go... While he does not wander as often as I do, he is one of us."
The bird's feather's ruffled slightly as it straightened itself out for inspection; both of itself and of the mare. Being a creature connected to the spirits itself, he reconized the mare for what she was and kept that secret to himself. There was no reason to let the dark stallion know that the realm of the Spirits had been breached. Not yet, at least.
He pondered his companion's silence before summing it up with his own. Sometimes there were no need for words. Sometimes everything was better left quiet. Sometimes things could be said without words.

Nostalgia found herself jerking her head around in surprise as the crow cawed and landed beside her new friend. She had not been so easily startled before, so why now? Perhaps she had finally come to an ease, a state of openess she herself was not used to, and an interuption such as the crow would cause her reactions to be more vulnerable?
Her lavender eyes fell onto watching the crow as Draven introduced him to her. She appreciated its silence as it no doubt saw her for who she truly was. She had not encountered many creatures that were not Soquilis in this land, so it was refreshing to see something new for a change, especially one, she sensed, had some form of alliance with the spirits. She couldn't exactly identify what it was, but it was there.
She opened her mouth to speak, but the words refused to break the quietness that had befallen the group, so instead closed her mouth and nodded her formal greeting in the crow's direction. Nostalgia enjoyed the serene peace of silence just as much as her fellow beast, and took pleasure in the moment, no matter how brief it would be.

Taking a deep breath he turned his head to look out over the plains once more. It was turning into a beautiful morning. The grasses were glistening with dew, shimmering as the droplets were kissed by the light of the sun. Mornings like this seemed to reaffirm his faith in... Everything. The Spirits included.
He turned towards the mare after another moment passed in silence, offering her a soft smile. "I should leave you to your day, Nostalgia. After waiting to see the sun rise I have realized that, perhaps, it is time that I took a brief rest from my wanderings. I hope that the Spirits continue to bless you... And keep in mind that every time you look to the sky, you are not alone. A friend looks at it with you always."

She smiled, watching him turn to leave. She herself was feeling drowsy, and knew it was time to return back to her home to rest. The babies were stirring more than they ever had before, and it hurt to continue standing like she had been.
"Thank you, Draven," she replied with her gentle voice, bowing her horn in farewell to the duo, "Thank you for reassuring me that I am not alone when I wander. I must say, I will be thinking of our conversations each sunrise that I see. May the spirits continue to bless you as well, and I bid you both a good day and a peaceful evening."
She wondered what he meant by when he said 'rest from his wanderings'. Perhaps from their discussion, he had found some sense of peace? She made a silent prayer to the spirits, as she began walking away, that they would bless Draven and his companion on the journey ahead of them. She knew that wise stallions such as he were uncommon in the land, and she hoped that one day their paths might cross again. It would do her much good to learn from him, as experienced he seemed to be with this world. One day she would become wiser, and then would find peace in the world. Until then, she would continue to wander, but at least now, she knew she would not be alone.
