it is said that the only unforgivable sin is suicide. But leaving God is not undforgivable...just take a look at the bible, minus a few characters, at least once they all denied God's existence.

Matthew 12:32

Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

considering we all do that at least once a week, I believe that God did cover that when he sent Jesus here...the only sin I can't think of being forgivable is Suicide, because once you're dead, you can't ask for forgiveness, plus you condemn your loved ones to live with that for the rest of their lives...

Alright, I'm not attacking you, but:

You speak against the Holy Spirit at least once a week?

And how do you know you can't ask for forgiveness once you're dead? Have you been dead?

I think the Bible is very clear when it says the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the unforgiveable sin, I mean it says 'anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven' and it means never, it doesn't say 'they won't be forgiven unless they accept Jesus' . I think it's very clear.

And for the record. I have been dead, clinicaly dead, for two minutes, and I remember my spirit claiming to God after dead, so I think your body can't ask for forgiveness, but your spirit could for a few seconds before being taken to face God.

I think the unforgivable sin is not in itself not believing God exists, but that you know he exists and yet you still are hurting his children by your actions. It's like the pharisees, they thought they were 'righteous' because they went by the book. But they were so stubborn they would not change their ways even in the face of God's own son. They tried so hard to get what they wanted through God, that in the end, they ended up denying his very will to get it- through intentional blindness and sheer stubborness. I believe the unforgivable sin is simply the will NOT TO CHANGE.

Actually, the Father(God), the Son(Jesus), and the Holy Spirit are three entities in one, which would make them a trinity. Because of this, a person who has denied God or Jesus can be forgiven, but if they deny the Holy Spirit, the person has commited blasphemy.

That's why the scripture states (I'm just paraphasing) that if you deny the Son, then you can be forgiven, but if you deny the Holy Spirit, then you just basically reserved a zero-class ticket to hell (zero-class means the person would be burning before they even get there).

I almost forgot to say this sweatdrop

There's a thing called Decision Ministries that have mission trips around the world. They also hold a thing called Camp Decision in Florida, where it's an environment filled with just christian youth and it's pretty cool (unfortunately, I can't go this year because I have to go to school). They have this thing on their youtube profile and their myspace profilewhere you declare that you've made your decision to believe in God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit....

But that's just some info. for anybody that's interested sweatdrop

As a little comment, I was actually watching one of my Christian channels, and there was a man discussing dying and going to heaven and such. He said that God is going to judge us all at once, and those of us who die before the second coming will sleep until then. This seemed totally bogus to me until, on my reading plan, I found John 6:66-9 (I THINK it's this verse...) Anywho, in it, Stephen is being stoned and is forgiving those stoning him and such. But it says that after he prayed, Stephen "fell asleep". It goes on to say that Saul was there, "giving approval to his death." o.o an interesting thought, though I really don't think it matters.

And yes. Speaking against the Holy Spirit is 'the unforgivable sin' I've read about, but I STILL don't know what God means by it...however, I'm going to pray for insight and understanding on this, because...y'know...kind of important...o.o;

if you think about it, God does give us anything we can't handle, so...basically you're saying He's lying? Correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm not trying to flame, just curious.

ok when it says blasphemy...it means after being saved, once u have tasted his love and what it means...then turning around and completely denying the Lord and denying giving him the glory that u kno he deserves...

After being saved, as in??? Baptism???? Or something else?

Belive it or not, In my 15 years, I have not been baptised, i just wasnt ready, Gods journey for me was different, I was not supposed to be baptised yet. I wish to be very soon, I wish to finalize my faith, and ask christ to be a part of my life, ask for forgiveness for everything, and live my life right!

And in regards to the above post, about god, jesus and the holy spirit, being a trinity.

If they are one in the same, doesnt that mean that blasphemy against any of them is blasphemy against the holy spirit???? And if that is true, than anyone who has ever laughed at anything sacreligious, is going to hell are they not, for sacreligious, and blasphemy, are very close to the same thing(in my opinion) or what about anyone who was of another religion, before they converted to christianity. Wouldnt that be considered blasphemy against god, jesus, and the holy spirit???

I dont think blasphemy is unforgiveable, My reasons for this are below.

Sacreligious jokes, songs, ect... are very very close, if not the same as blasphemy, for they make fun of god and the church. Wixh I think is just another form of blasphemy.

Heres a good example in my life, Monty pythin and the holy grail, is full of sacreligious jokes and phrases. My step father loved this movie, and he was the best man ive ever known, I loved him alot, and I KNOW, I am like 99.9% positive he is in heaven right now, watching over me, and trying to help me through life! The only spec of doubt I have, is if blasphemy, is unforgiveable, then as you said, he is in hell, and Im condemned for it too, again if what you say is true. But I belive that you are wrong, Blasphemy is forgiveable(in my opinion)

~looks up at his post~ wow long post lol
