"EI!" opaj's second sword flashed out of its sheath, and bringing both weapons down as one, he smacked the sword to the ground and off to the side. As for the man bearing down on him--

"Ugh!" opaj fell back into the water, the filthy disgusting water. Going under, he closed his eyes and quickly pushed off of the larger (probably) man, letting himself go in deeper.

"-blurp!"

The smaller man pushing off Kalis was some help, and Kalis flailed frantically, weighed down by armored apparal and wet clothing, he flipped about desperately grabbing for the edge they'd come over.

"Ugh..."

Did he hit me on the head with some magic trick while I wasn't looking? Why is it mages can all do sneaky stuff like that...

He pulled, hard, trying to get himself out of the water. Sure, he'd be heavy, being wet, but this was absurd. Almost groggy, he pulled himself up a bit at a time, climbing out and standing up shakily, turning back around in case something came back up.

"...ugh.... this place... smells."

I'm going to have to burn these... new clothes cost way too much for me to have to replace them all the time...

His nose wrinkled up. That, at least, he could do with no real effort.

In the time it took Kalis to haul himself out of the water, opaj was surfacing on the other side. Jumping to his feet, he held his blade out to the side as though he was protecting someone.

"I won't let you near her!"
PostPosted: Sat Feb 03, 2007 5:50 pm

Kalis blinked.

He drew himself up, shaking the icky water off, and blinked at the man a few more times. Then pointed excitedly at opaj, eyes wide with shock.

"Look out! That thing you have!" he let his finger waver, trying to point at where he figured the marble was, but covering his bases in case he was wrong.

"The little glass thing! Do you know what it is!?"

Kalis was no actor. But... you didn't have to be that good to be convincing to a guy who was protecting invisible people and looked like he should have been either taking a tropic vacation or fighting ninjas off to protect his HONAR. Or both. Huh.

Anyhow, it couldn't be that hard, right?

Right?

...

Right.

"What are you talking about?" At that moment, a bit of wind picked up, revealing once again the marble embedded in opaj's forehead, which Kalis had previously seen, of course.

"Your tricks won't work on me. If you get near her, I'll kill you!"

"That thing in your head!" he grasped at his forhead, still pointing with one hand, putting on a panic striken face.

"It's an alien! Those are dangerous, quick," he gestured taking something out of the forehead and flinging it away, making sure that he gestured away from the water. "you have to get rid of it before it hurts her! They already got two of my friends!"

He practically danced, stepping back as if he really were afraid of the marble. "I know a way to destroy them, but it's dangerous to leave it there! You'd better take it out and I'll show you." he gestured frantically.

"You can't fool me!" opaj cried. His right-hand katana shot into its sheath, and he dipped his blade in the water once more. "Suisashi!" A great, big, vertical water blade flew at Kalis.

"IT'S AN AAAAAAAALIEEEEEEEN~!"

Kalis flung himself on the ground, landing hard, and scrambling on his belly away. He was in no condition to dart up this time.

He crawled on his belly toward the motorcycle, trying to get away quick. He only saw a few options available to him if this didn't work...

If he made it without too much harassment to the bike, he'd get up, trying to get onto it and turn his baby on.

No reason he wouldn't get on his bike at all.

If he wasn't fast, though, he'd be in trouble. opaj lay both hands on the hilt of his blade and crouched by the water, dipping it down to the guard.

Oh-s**t!

With the pattern coming on, Kalis could practically see the uber attack coming. He felt like he was in a video game. Fumbling desperately, he took the sheath off his back as he got on the bike, turning the key.

He revved up, starting in opaj's general direction on the motorcycle, sheath held in both hand in a way that he could still effectively manage the thing, as it was light but not small. That made steering hard, but...

He turned the thing up, and pressed forward in opaj' general direction, letting the motorcycle pick up speed while he started to stand up on it, pressing his legs onto the foot holds. That sheath was really getting in his way, but in just a moment...

"Theyhideonyourforeheadandwaituntilyoudon'tnoticethemanymore!Don'tletittrickyou!It'llgrowbigwhenyoufallasleepandtryandhurther,youhavetogetridofitquick!"

Yes, stringing the words together just like that to get them all out before he lost the chance.

"Hm."

Yanking the blade out of the water, opaj sent a massive horizontal blade of water at Kalis, aimed just above the handlebars. opaj imagined he'd either have to throw himself off the bike, or somehow jump over the blade.

He might've been wrong, but that's what he imagined.

In the end, opaj ended up with his sword held ready at his right side, hilt gripped in both hands.

And that, was the mark.

Kalis turned the bike last minute towards opaj, pressing the gas for all it was worth. Turning that cross guard to level with the slash he stood up dangerously far, holding it horizontally into the slash.

And with the impact, two things happened.

Kalis leaning over the handlebars and way forward was going to crash into it was early, since he was redirected straight at the man now, and flying fast. When the slash striked the bent over man, his legs would push off, giving him a little boost- to compliment what the strike under his weight was going to primarily accomplish for him.
Kalis would go flying forward off the bike, head first.

And into a brutal headbutt, skull connected with opaj's with an echoing crack as the man bounched off over top of the man he'd just struck like the human cannonball, flipping off to the side and onto the ground, seeing stars despite his thick skull.

opaj- which feels really funny to start a sentence with without capatilizing, would almost doubtlessly be decked by the flying man, but since he wasn't airborne, he wasn't flying off at any funny angles, just falling over.

Which meant the tumbling, riderless motorcycle was going to more or less crash on top of him.

And, well, that should leave opaj hurting a lot more than Kalis, perhaps, be it too much to hope, down for the count.

Right?

....

uuuugh...

opaj took the blow to the head, almost blacking out. Instinct took over, and as he fell back, he fell into a roll, blade kept to the side and out of the way, actually gaining speed. Kalis' head bumped again into opaj's back as opaj was mid-roll, but this did nothing more than give opaj a sore back.

Rolling up to one knee, opaj remained still, dazed. He brought his sword between them, having rolled just out of range to attack Kalis, but didn't move quite yet.

Couldn't move quite yet; he was too dazed, and as it was mentioned above, he only managed the roll on sheer instinct.

Kalis may have noticed a splatter of blood on himself. It wasn't his own blood, however, but blood from opaj, whose red hawaiian shirt was now just a little wet from.

Kalis, like opaj, had the advantage that he did many things on instinct. It helped for a crash and tumble type fighter like him, who was no martial artist, to be able to take some level of beating when he went into brawler mode and keep on functioning.

Unfortunately, a level of bodily weakness and a crack THAT hard to the head fuzzied things up a little.

"-ergh..."

Kalis turned himself over on his belly only a few seconds after the crash, still watching the birdies he was sure must be vultures at this point, circle his head, while he reached out, grabbing at the sheath. Good. He had that, so... he pulled it in, using it like a cane to help brace himself to his feet, in a wobbly way as his dizziness still spun the world. He took the strap that had gone over his shoulder in the left hand, folding up one end for a good grip, while he grabbed the sheath just a little above opening where the blade was meant to be insterted.

"I... guess... it's too late to say... I come in peace?"

Kalis was a bit too hazy to notice the blood, nor the man's apparanty worse condition than his own. He'd have just attributed the longer stalling to his being smaller and not quite as durable as he was as result. Good thing expensive, fragile items came with long warranties.

Wait.... uh... the hell am I thinking...?

Forging forward was the best way to clear his head, but it also would force the other man onto his feet and to act sooner. Which meant, Kalis could stall for time without losing his advantage. Maybe... if he was lucky... he could even...

opaj blinked, and in a second he was on his feet, closing the gap to Kalis.

Stopping feet from the man, he extended his blade, pointing it at the man's neck (assuming the man could do nothing to parry quickly, which is reasonable). Narrowing his eyes, he spoke.

"Why should I let you live after your crimes against my beloved?"
