WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I LOVE IT(although i can speak it)
BUT MY FAV SONG http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBJgSkk0HaA IT IS AWESOOOOOOOOME

Hehe... whenever that song plays smiling rainbows with cute little puffy clouds at the ends sing harmoniously XD. I've had this song stuck in my head since I saw a Norwegian ( not too sure. I just know it was somewhere in Scandinavia) completely butcher the song.

does it use a trilled "r' and musical pitch? (Norwegian/Swedish/Icelandic)

or does it almost swallow the "r"? (that is danish/Faroese)

@ Linda quest: He went solo (I heard one of his songs on youtube)

They all went solo, I just never saw any of Dan's videos smile I've seen Aresnium, I've seen Radu...but Dan has disappeared from the scene...

As I've seen, syllable stress usually falls on the second-to-last syllable in a word, much like in normal Romance languages such as Spanish and Italian.

EX:
peşte (fish)
pisică (cat)
albină (bee)

There are some exceptions in which syllable stress is at the first or last syllable:

elefant (elephant)
fluture (butterfly)

I'm pretty sure that one rule is that the letter ă is never stressed, so găndac (cockroach) places stress on the second syllable.

But that's about all I know about Romanian other than pronunciation and some vocab. Maybe Linda Quest can explain it better.

Thanks for steping in Hawk, you pretty much got it right. Only you were talking about î and â not ă. It's gândac.

The reason â is never stressed is because it's the shortest vowel in the alphabet.

MEA CULPA

Sorry for misguiding you. I do have an excuse though: we do not study accents in school so I made a few mistakes.

The accent in Romanian isn't fixed. Though it is usualy on the second sylable, most of the words are exceptions from the rule (believe me, most people can't agrea on how to prononce the word right). It was hoped that the last language reforme fixed this...but it created more problems than there were before.

Sorry for the long absence, but I have my reasons (which would be explained when the time comes).

I was surfing the net looking for some gramar exercises and I found this. It's not very advanced, but it's perfect for beginners.

1. Vowels

A sac ... suck
E set ... set
I in ... in
O bot ... bought
U şut ... shoot
Ă rană ... runner
Î/Â rând
în

A is definitely not the u sound in suck/runner. You're saying that A and Ă make the same sound, which is not true.
