By this time, Alexander’s maw had opened to release his tongue. Said tongue was now flopping all over the place as he panted quickly. This wasn’t over yet! Alexander told himself in repetition. Damn the sun again, for making it so hot. He knew he could be at least fifty percent faster under the cloak of night. Nothing he could do about it now.
Alexander had been hunting for himself for ages. Occasionally an older wolf would feel pity for him and lend a helping paw, but he had done a lot by himself. He was a medium sized pup, but very mature for his age. Alexander recalled his first few hunts. He must’ve felt just like this male; fearful someone might take his meal, and protecting it with his life. A thought like this softened Alexander’s resolve, and he thought maybe he should give up.
Just as the youngster was thinking this, his target halted behind a female pup. Alexander skidded to a stop and began to go around her to get at the mouse. That is, until his saw the fear in the other boy’s expression. That was it, Alexander could find his own dinner. He realized part of his reason for the chase was to interact with another wolf. Knowing this, he promptly lowered onto his haunches and offered a pathetic, “Sorry,” to the other pup.

Litre stood dumbly for a few moments, his eyes flitting from the female to the male. He had no idea what had just happened, but from the looks of it, he could keep the mouse. Shifting his weight uneasily, he gave one last glance to both of them before lowering his head and dropping the mouse on the ground. It seemed safe enough to let it from his jaw for a little while, at least. "It's... okay?" He wasn't sure what to say, really. In his mind, the events of the past few moments had been absolute hell. If it was over, though, he was willing to take a truce. He wasn't what you might call asseritive. He was actually rather submissive, but that could've just been his age and current situation. After all, he was smaller than the blue male, and had no idea who the female was.
Placing a paw on the dead roden't tail just to assure himself it was going to stay, he attempted to calm his wild panting. The run had been a rough one, what with the panic and the mouse clogging his only way to cool. Between his heavy breathing, he managed to choke out a sort of greeting for the pair. "Hi." He wondered if the other pup would come there way at some point, seeing as this wasn't a trap. Or so he hoped.

Alexander gave a wolfish smile to the boy with the mouse. Now, this was one who could blend into the sunlight. But there was something about his eyes that was… alluring? Close enough. Alexander’s chest heaved as he panted from the chase. But, unlike the other, he wasn’t totally relieved it had ended. He felt exhilarated from running with another wolf, even if they weren’t on the same team at the time.
Plopping down on his stomach, Alexander made himself comfortable. In no way was he submitting to either of them, though. He the other pups know this by keeping his head and tail held high, even in the laying position. However, he did dip his nose once to nod to the bright male. “Yes.” He said simply, wondering if this boy had struggled to catch the little mouse.
“I’m Alexander,” he said with confidence, thinking that an introduction was in order after what he’d put this boy through.

Perking her ears as the male gazed her way with a polite yet silent jesture, her tail began to wag more swiftly. Taking a few steps foreward, she leant up on the tips of her paws to sniff at his nose..it was the first time she had seen another adult other than her own parents. "Hullo there! Who're you?" She piped up in a tiny voice, observing his pelt and stature as she was well aware she was tiny in comparison. He must be fast!
"I'm Bindi!" She coo'ed, smiling proudly as she puffed her little chest out...the name suited such a small female. In the back of her mind, she had wondered where the pups had run off too, yet it didn't matter much. She enjoyed the company of anyone, and this older male was no different if he would talk to her.

Oh, this was just peachy. Nen practically jumped when the other, larger, pup emerged. Was she some wolf magnet or something?!
Eyes quickly darted from one pup to the other as ears twitched when they caught the exchanged words. Nuenen wondered if she should just go. This wasn't exactly her affaire and the males around here seemed to pop right out of the grass itself!
Blinking a few times, the female shifted her paws slightly in the dirt to see if she was unfrozen yet.
….
Yup, she was.
Picking up a leg, tail tucked almost to her belly, Nen started to attempt to just back away despite the greeting given by one of the others.

[ Sorry, had to go to dinner. ]
The moment Nymmeria's hair stood up Sekani feared that his suspicions had been true. They must have been her pups, whether by birth or not. She didn't seem to be too upset by his approach though, so he remained still. One ear flicked back when she approached him, somewhat interested by her posture. Did she think that he was in charge here? Or maybe she was afraid of him? It was hard to imagine that anyone would be afraid of him, but Sekani was familiar with the ways of lone wolves. They were cautious around everyone, especially those who looked stronger than themselves.
At her question, the wolf shook his head. No, these were not his lands. So that's what she must have been worried about. Well, now that that was cleared up, Sekani saw no need for the female to be tense. His ear flipped forward, dipping his head in a silent greeting and giving his tail a small wag. She didn't have to worry. He wasn't going to hurt her or the pups, whether they were hers or not.
An ear swivelled to the side at the approach of one of the pups and Sekani turned to look at her. He wagged his tail in her direction, tilting his head as he regarded her quietly. She was young, he mused, though not too young to be out alone. Did she belong to the female? The male glanced between the pair, trying to decide if his hypothesis had been true.
Edit: Apparently the pup had better things to do, and before any conclusions could be made she was gone again. Not that he could blame her. There were other pups here, so she probably wanted to play with them. Understandable.

Not truely comfortable with the situation at hand, Litre remained standing, his paw firmly on the rodent's tail. The blue male's display of dominance was enough to make him quiver, but he managed to keep at least some dignity, and managed to keep his head at a neutral level. His mind flitted back to the tan pup, almost at the same moment as her mournful cry. offering his own meager howl, he turned his attention to the water colored female to his side. She seemed to be just as uncomfortable as he was, and was attempting to slip away. Litre had no intentions of stopping her, and considered going to investigate the howl for a few moments. "Litre." He nodded his head to the other male abesntly in acknowledgement of his name, but his attentions were obviousley else where. "'Scuse me." With a nod of his head, he picked the mouse up and padded towards the howl, scenting the air for signs of the little tan girl. Hopefully, the other two might follow. There was something deep down inside him that said he had to stick with a group, but puphood curiosity was getting the best of him. With a glance over his shoulder, he managed a muffled yip, encouraging the other two to come along.

((Grr, short post. ))
Alexander belly crawled closer to the female. Just because he was down didn’t mean he was out. His puppy legs were ready to pounce at any moment he saw a quick move. Alexander could help but let his tail wag slightly. This was fun! He hadn’t realized how much he missed being social. His eyes widened in a playful manner, silently saying to the girl that he meant no intentional harm. However, he had been eating fairly regularly lately, so he wasn’t as malnourished as usual.
“Come back?” He said, letting it come out as a half-question, half-plea. He wanted to finally be able to make some friends here!

Alexander didn’t need a second beckon. He was to his feet and dashing off in seconds. The young male was so happy to finally be with a group. Even if he did constantly display dominant, or at least high-ranking, behaviors the boy was really kind at heart. He loved other wolves and cherished their company.
Scruffy paws carried him quickly to the male with the mouse. Upon arriving, he slowed his gait down to a pace to better accommodate the other. His tail remained up, and he walked slightly in front of the other pup, but constantly kept an ear flicked in Litre’s direction. “It’s nice to meet you,” Alexander said, tongue lolling out of his mouth once more.

Nuenen lowered slightly when the one named Litre moved off and when the large blue male dashed after him. Her ears had caught the earlier whine, the one saying for her and the other male to follow, but...
Ugh...She didn't want to be alone again today...
Taking a deep breath, the water-hued female turned and took off after the other two and slowed to a steady walk some feet behind them.

Alright, this mouse was becoming a handicap. When they found the source of the howl, he would most certainly have to eat it. With a light toss, he threw the creature into the air, and moved up a few paces to catch it on his head. It was a trick he had learned to do with leaves and sticks and the such, though they never stayed for long. Hopefully, the weight of the rodent would keep it on the top of his head. At least until they found the other pup again. He was comfortable enough with Alexander and the other pup that he could have his prize up there with little problem. His previous paranoia had worn off, and he was feeling much better. He was even able to wag his tail. At Alexander's display of obvious dominance, he didn't really feel all that bad. He had no use for being ahead of the group, and kept a few paces back from the larger male, his head at a happily neutral level. Being with a group his own age was exhillerating, and he wasn't about to let something like position get in the way.
