Well bearing in mind the Face Of Boe will appear before Jack in the series, how about "Jack is still alive."

Oi! I like Torchwood!

Then make them put it on BBC America so I can stop being in the dark about it. confused
Didn't say I hated it. Just said I'm quite tired of references to it. It definitely shows signs of earth-bound-ness...ness.....

I know that, sheesh.
I mean that the constant references to Torchwood makes it seem that Doctor Who is gonna be earth-bound for quite a while.

Didn't they say the next series would be earth-bound?
Well, OK, so long as two things are true:
1. It is earth-bound for only one series this Doctor. Any more, and I will personally kill RTD.
2. The time-period varies, so that less than 0 of the series is set in present-day Earth. That means at least p of the series is set in other time periods, such as the Classical, Medieval, Ancient or Industrial Eras. Medieval Russia! Rome! Ancient Arabia! The Age of Discovery! The Earth has far more interesting settings than just urban Cardiff, made to look like urban London. Or, indeed, present-day London.

RTD! Listen! The Earth has existed for longer than two-hundred years! Snap out of it, give us variety!

But why does Ten have to stay earthbound? TT-TT
That's not exactly fair....besides, he's gonna meet the Face of Boe again, and that doesn't have to be on Earth. Rose met Cassandra and Boe on the ship watching the Earth asplodey.... Boe should tell him whatever he needs to say on another planet.... emo

Alien planets = Wonderful.
Present-day imitations of urban London = Rubbish.
Interesting places in interesting time periods = Great.

Unfortunately, most of the more recent episodes are at Rubbish, with some nearing Great, and a select few on Wonderful.

I wish everyone would stop whinging about Doctor Who being so Earth-centric for two reasons:

One - It makes the show look better visually. Unless they screw up monumentally as long as they kep it on Earth no-one can complain about crappy sets (Dragonfire anyone?)

Two - It makes sense storyline wise that the Doctor would spend so much time on Earth. With Gallifrey gone Earth becomes like his surrogate home planet. He's so much more focused on Earth now because it's all he has left.

I read somewhere that Series Three will have a few more off-Earth locales. Yippee!

But Twisted Davros does bring out a good point about why the Doctor seems so tied to Earth. Could be why RTD doesn't venture too far or too long away from Earth. 3nodding

Alright, alright! I surrender! mrgreen

You do bring up some good points. Especially number two. It does make sense so I promise to stay tolerant of that. As long as Ten's around for a while, I will try not to have complaints.

There are at least two alien planets in the next series. One is in Episode Three and another is called Malcassairo, according to Production Notes in DWM 378.
