You know you're a band geek when you miss school because you're sick, but go to after-school jazz band practice anyway.

You know you're a band geek when you hang out in the band room before school starts.

You know when you're a band geek when you hang out in the bannd room AFTER school ends (and there's no rehersal that day).

You know you're a band geek when...

1. You blow an entire paycheck on reeds or valve oil.

2. You chose to buy a new instrument rather than getting a car.

I LOVE YOUR SIGGY!!

you know you're a band geek when...
1.) your neck strap is a fashion statement (GUILTY)
2.) you go in the band room AT LEAST 3 times per day(GUILTY)
3.) you have a funeral for your dead reeds (GUILTY)
4.) someone says M.F. instead of the actual words and you think "since when did mezzo forte become an insult...?" (VERY GUILTY)
5.) you save your "lucky reed" for all important all state tryouts, but it is only lucky because the alto sax player you're crushing on played your instrument with that reed (YES YES GUILTY)
6.) you hit on ALL the band guys and they know it is simply a joke (YUP YUP)
7.) (last one for now) your role model is your BD (GUILTY GUILTY)

You know you're a band nerd when you mark time to the National Anthem, when they play it over the PA system at the beginning of school.

Or better yet, when your entire group of friends (who are all in marching band of course) walk down the hallways at school together, in step and rolling your feet.

I've got a few more:

You know you're a band geek when:

- you try to come up with a pre-competition sectional cheer to rival that of the other sections
- You and your friends break into a vocal rendition of the "Sleigh Ride" band arrangement, with all of you singing your instrument's part
- you think the opening bars of Destiny's Child's new song (Lose My Breath) sounds like a drum cadence
- you can play your band's drum cadence on your body (someone in my band actually demonstrated this during a band banquet)
- all of your really good stories from high school start with "this one time, at band camp...."
- instead of movies or video games for Christmas, you want a reed knife and a reed trimmer
- you remember your drill from six years ago
- you celebrate when the much vilified rival band that has won your state's field band conference championship for the past 16 years in a row finally comes in second (*cough*WestGenessee*cough*)
- you know where every piece of music in your band's library is located, because you and your friends organized and cataloged it
- you signed the band room wall when you graduated high school, and when you go back for your ten year anniversary you look to see if it's still there
- you understand the profound importance of not using the bathroom on the tour bus... EVER

You know you're a band geek:

When your instructor let's you drive his or her vehicle to run band errands.

When watching television your hands start playing paradiddles without thinking.

When you wake up in the middle of the night startled, because you were hearing the drum cadence perfectly in your dream.

When you are the last one out to an athletic (football, track, basketball) practice because you were playing your instrument in the band room instead of changing for practice.

When you feel the need to explain athletic means sports and not marching band.

When as a senior you cry during your last performance.

When the idea of the John Phillips Sousa band award actually means the world to you.

When you can understand that band trips are so much more than any other field trip.

When you feel so comfortable around each other the band director gets complaints about "half naked people on band buses" (you gotta change into uniform right?).

When you'd rather spend every study hall talking with your band director about next years music for contest, who will be playing what, and are trusted to make the decisions.

When pep band is the best part of the year.

When you come back to play pep band after you graduate.

When you can understand the rivalry between Trumpets and Percussion as the leading section (and realize it IS the percussion).

When band members from other schools become better friends than those you've known since grade school.

Boo-san

Um, you know you're a band nerd when even when you don't have a flag in your hand, other band members tend to stay at least six feet away from you at all times. xd

cry that happens to me... but it's not because of any flags... cry
let's see---
You stalk people at walmart just to get in step...
You figure at the tempo to every song you know, band related or not...
You feel sorry for the enviorment because trees are related to drumsticks.... ((wait... what?))
most of your friends ((if not all)) are in band....
.... um.... that's about it for now.....

..when you've told so many "this one time, at band camp" stories that your friends don't recognise it form American Pie.

..when you can play every song on a trumpet, clarinet, saxaphone, tuba, baritone, and trombone, but for 5 years of trying, you've never made a single note come from a flute.

And yes, I've been trying to make a note come out of a flute for 5 years, but I've never been able to *stabs*
