That is an interesting take on Dorothy's character. I hadn't though of such circumstances for her. Personally, I had envisioned her as following up on her ideal of not living in the past and totally leaving the picture in order to start a new life.
Because she was so politically motivated, I could also see her joining in the political ring (if anything else, to avenge her father's spirit). But her father is the very thing that makes me think she would start anew. He specifically wanted her to be happy and carefree so I can see her honoring that by simply starting with a clean slate in the peace he died to help achieve. Of course, I love romancy-sap endings like that...
