Harabu shook his head, "Im not going to lie to you. I didn't love your mother, I had just met her. If that brief meeting created something as beautiful as you though I do not mind. You are something that makes me feel proud."
He smiled, he thought it best to be honest so that was exactly what he was doing, being honest.

At first, Ihlo looked a little hurt. She had maybe hoped too much to think there was something special about how she and her brothers had come into this world. But it warmed her heart, and made her smile dearly, to know that she made him feel proud. She had yet to do anything momentous in her life, but he was still proud of her.
"I'd like to...know more about you...and your new family," she said, a little forced at first but then genuinely interested.

Harabu smiled as she asked.
"I would like you to meet Amani, my mate. She doesn't know anything about you or your siblings but I was wrong keeping it from her. She has had a hard life, a very hard life and I want her to be happy, thats all I could want for her, she has helped me alot but it is too much to go into now." He smiled at her and stretched a little before licking his paw thoughtfully.
"Would you like to be a part of mine and Amani's family? Be around when we have our cubs and just be part of us all?" It was alot to ask of her but he really wished to be close to his daughter and this was the only way he thought it possible.

Hmmm, so Amani was a sensitive sort? If she had yet to hear about Ihlo and her siblings, the white adolescent could only hope her sheer existence wouldn't upset her 'step-mother' too much.
Of his request, she didn't have to think about it.
"Oh yes, I'd very much like to be in your family," she said earnestly, wisely choosing not to add 'its all I've ever wanted.' She didn't want to appear too soppy in front of her father.

Harabu smiled and nuzzled his daughter.
"Thank You." That was all he could say really, she hadn't turned him away and wanted to be part of his family. He could start making amends and be the father he should be, that and he could play over protective dad when the boys turned up wanting his daughter.
"Would you like to meet Amani now? We could go and find her?" He hoped that she would say yes, he needing to show Amani his last secret.

"Now?"
It was rather sudden. But maybe meeting her father and extended family all at once was the best way to go. She could think about the matters later then, rather than stew and get nervous about meeting this other mother.
"Well...I don't have anything better to do," she smiled, paws itching to be on the move again.

Harabu smiled, "Thank You. I am sure you will like Amani and she will like you, she likes everyone no matter how they treat her." Yes he was partly repeating himself but at the same time he didn't notice, he loved Amani, more then she could ever know.

Amani had wondered herself into a doze after Harabu had left her. Her heart wanted to believe him, oh how it did. But part of her still didn't and she hated that. He was her mate! He wouldn't lie to her about something like that...
She had gotten so tired of her confusing worries, that she had become physically tired and set her head down for a rest. She was doing that a lot lately but until recently had thrown it off as catching Harabu's contagious laziness.
She slept with her head on her paws, lulled by the sun on her white fur. Only the idle flicking of her tail every so often showed that she was still partially awake.

Ihlo smiled back at him, genuinely willing to meet Amani, even if it felt like she was betraying her mother a little bit. Maybe she shouldn't think of it like, just think of it like an extended family, like an extra mother to go to...but what if Amani didn't want that? Oh dear.
"Where can we find her?" she asked, eager to get moving again.

Harabu smiled down at his daughter chuckled a little. "She will love you stop worrying!" He could see she was worried but he knew Amani.
"There she is, the white lioness laying down." He smiled at his daughter again and started to trot towards her, "Amani!" He called out, it was time to get the truth out.

Amani opened one eye and lifted her head, a smile on her maw. She saw Harabu and the young white lioness she had seen as a cub. This made her worry more, but she kept the smile up.
"You look happy," she replied in greeting. She stayed lying down, but her head was raised and her eyes bright. She turned to the adolescent by her mate and smiled at her.
"And who is this?"

Amani was certainly pretty and was granted a very warm smile from Ihlo. She kept pace with her father...until this point, where she felt it was polite to stand a little futher back than her elder.
When addressed by the elegant female, Ihlo nervously shuffled her paws and then bowed her head in a mark of respect.
"My name is Ihlosenka," she answered a little shyly, but with a deeper warmth. She didn't think it was her place to actually explain who was. That was a task best left to father.

Harabu felt as if he were going to be sick.
"Ihlo is my daughter. She has two brothers but I have not seen them in a long time, since they were cubs in fact. I'm sorry I did not tell you before, I wished not to believe they were mine but seeing Ihlo today... I mean look she is beautiful. I'm sorry Amani." He lowered his head a lot. He did feel awful and better now all at once. The last secret was out and he could only hope that her forgiving nature would let her forgive him.

Amani smiled to Ihlo and laughed a little.
"Oh, you don't need to bo-" she began, but Harabu spoke, saying words that cut deep into her heart. She closed her eyes and her emotions finally showed on her face as she tried to control them. Anger fled as soon as it came to be replaced by sorrow as she tried to keep from crying. There had to be a reason.
"I... I know. She has your eyes, Harabu, as does her brother," she whispered, her eyes finally opening again. They sparkled with tears she refused to shed and her soft smile was forced, quivering at the edges as she tried to hold it in place.
"I'm not angry, I just..." she said and looked down at her paws. "I..." she shut her eyes tight and lowered her head one her paws, shaking like a leaf in the wind. "Why did you keep them from me? Why didn't you tell me sooner? I would have understood! Why now? Of all times, why now?" she sobbed, her nose pressed to her paws. She couldn't tell him. Not now. She should have told him earlier, but she wanted him to be truthful with her, all their secrets aside before she told him. And right now she was too distraught to tell him her precious secret.

Seeing her father lower his head in this sensitive moment, Ihlo followed suit, a little shocked and a little humbled all at the same time from her father's compliment.
Amani's words were painful to hear. Ihlo looked up occasionally, eyes searching for a handle on the situation, anything she could do or say to make things lift. Feeling a little bold, she creeped over and laid down near Amani...and nuzzled her affectionately.
