He could barely bring his eyes up to look at the brightly colored mare but, the moment he did, he felt a painful pang almost like he'd been kicked in the side. "Sedi... Why don't you go on an' finish da race? Ah be along in a bit." He leaned down, touching his nose to the colt's shoulder.
"Ah gotta talk to da Lady 'ere... D'at is, if she willin' to let me." He owed her an explaination of some sorts... Hell, as bad as he was feeling, he owed her something more than that. He shouldn't be feeling like this, should he?

He scrunched his nose at the two. "Fine den. I'm gonna win since ya don wanna play wit me no more" He trotted away from the two adults. "If he's mean to ya lady then I'll come play with ya!" He called back at them before he scamped off.
"You should go with him Remy. I'm sure s-she'll miss you." She was sure that whatever mare he'd gotten with would miss him if his son came home without him.

"Ah ain't worried 'bout d'at, chere." He took a slow step towards her, stretching out his neck so that his nose nearly brushed against her shoulder. "D'at boy's all sorts 'o trouble..." He shook his head slowly before looking up to her, head still hanging low. "Ah think it safe ta yell a Remy now, chere... You da one Ah worried 'bout."

"I wasn't going to yell at you." No. She shouldn't yell at him. He was just being himself and taking care of his family. She had no reason to think that she'd been anything more than maybe a friend to him. Shouldn't have gotten your hopes up.

"Chere..." He took another step towards her, trying to soothe the ache of the guilt he suddently felt. She had said that she wasn't going to yell at him... Even though, by all rights, she should be. Unless...
Unless he'd been wrong about her the entire time. Unless he really was nothing more than a swamp rat scoundrel. He pulled back away from her, eyes closing as his head drifted even lower, his entire body seeming to sag. "Ah jus'... Leave you 'lone..."

She held back another sniffle as he practically gave up. He wasn't even going ... "You're not even going to explain are you? I really was just someone to play with." She wasn't yelling, she didn't want to yell, she just wanted to know why he'd said the things he'd said and why he tried to make her think that she was important when she wasn't.

"Non, chere..." He looked up at her with dark eyes that seemed almost... Pleading. "You somethin' more dan d'at. Somethin' Ah can't even begin ta unda'stand. You want Remy ta explain, chere? Where should Ah start?" He didn't quite know himself. Things had happened and he had never questioned them before. Now that he was being asked to he wasn't sure how to even go about starting.

"NO .... you shouldn't have to explain. You just found someone better for you." She shook her head. "She probably doesn't call you a scoundrel like i do and she's probably nicer. Much better choice than me"

"Ah did find someone better for me..." Ah found you, chere. He didn't say those words. He kept them to himself, not quite knowing how they would effect the situation as it was between them. "She wild an' free... Beautiful... But nothin' like you, chere." There was no comparison to be made between the two mares as far as he was concerned. They were on completely different pages and there he was... Stuck on a page somewhere in between.
"You talkin' like you actually like Remy, chere. Ah deserve ta be called a scoundrel... Always have an' always will be 'cause d'at who Remy is." He'd never had a reason to be any different... But now he found himself with several of them. "Why you care so much, chere? Why you workin' yourself up when you go 'round tellin' me d'at you don't want mah company. Ah no good. You never want no stallion like me. Ah think you say so yourself, chere."

"Maybe, maybe i decided you weren't so bad." She had told him last time that she did have fun with him. "Not like it matters. You've got someone better than me." She shook her head again. She'd always said he was just like this so why was it so hard to believe she'd been right?
"I don't want to keep you from your family. They probably miss you." Like she probably would when she went home. "I'll just go back to my river." and be alone.

"They ain't gonna need me forever, chere..." He murmured softly as he turned away from her, head continuing to hang low as he took slow steps towards the forest. "She gonna find d'at stallion who's good for her... Won't be no scoundrel like me..."
He paused for a moment just before the treeline, turning back to let burning eyes linger on her as if letting the moment blaze an imprint on his mind. "... An' you won't miss me none either."

She'd accidentally let a few tears fall when he turned away from her. She wasn't even suppose to like him but there she was upset over finding out that he had foals and another mare and that he was leaving her. She should be happy for him and his family.
"Couldn't possibly miss a scoundrel. Even if ... if i had fun with him." She shook her head and rubbed her nose against her shoulder. She should just turn around and run home.

He should be just as happy... He had found a mare that he shared a kindred spirit with. He had three beautiful foals; a charmer, a troublesome devil and a filly with fire in her soul... But they wouldn't need him forever. They were already learning about independance and freedom. He would soon become little more than the stallion who'd taught them things they needed to know about life.
They wouldn't need him. He knew that. He'd always known that as much as Kitara enjoyed having him around she didn't need him. It was how they had been able to go so long without seeing one another... Apart they were still two seperate beings. They weren't one missing the pieces brought by the other.
What kind of idiot had he been in trying to convince himself that the odd mare with colors that reminded him of warm, spring days might need him? He'd been so cocky... So certain... And now he didn't know at all.
"G'bye, chere." He said softly before slipping into the woods. He had alot of thinking to do... Alot.

She stayed in the clearing for a long while before she returned to the lake side. She could just go back to taking apples from the two legger and ignoring the two foals that lived with him like she had planned on. She didn't need anyone and as long as she told herself that she'd be alright.
She could convince herself that she was fine. She'd just make sure that she could take care of herself, like she'd always been doing, and she wouldn't have to worry about missing the stupid stallion. The stupid stallion she already missed.
