...School, huh.
Breaking the walls...huh. That was what her parernts wanted to achieve by sending her to school. Ever since she was young, she was tutored at home, until she was 12.
She cursed quietly under her breath. All through middle school she had been alone, lonely. It wasn't as if she didn't want to make friends, but...
They avoided her anyway. She didn't know why. They spoke to each other using friendly, everyday speech, but to her, all they used was an overly formal form of speech.
...why?
She looked herself over in the mirror. The tips of her lips were turned down into a slight frown and her eyebrows were knitted together in thought. No, She thought. This won't do. She paused a moment, then switched to happy-go-lucky mode. Or much rather, a fake one. Something she had created during middle school as a futile attempt to appease her parents, to make them stop sending her to school.
She knew it was futile. They knew her well enough to tell it wasn't real. But it had formed into a habit, the mask of carefree-ness and hyperactiveness had. She smoothed out her yellow dress that was her school uniform and looked at her now smiling face, in the mirror. Smile...Check.
As she walked out of the room, she asked Mifuyu, her maid and only friend, "Hey, Mi-cchi, am I unfriendly?" She was earnest, but she didn't really expect an answer from the servant. Mifuyu was one who enjoyed telling people things as much as possible, and letting them find out on their own. "My answer will await you when you return from school, Chiya-sama." She smiled, and her eyes narrowed to slits. "Have a nice day at school!"
Chihaya shook her head and headed out to take the car to school. As expected. The answer... I'll be looking forward to it.
