Before I do some murderous strangling I must ask why you hated it so? Don't give me that I just wanted to punch the screen for some reason, I WANT to know why with a plausible reason..
People are going to get offended anyways... just to let you know....
You can have an opinion, but you aren't backing it up very well.

Probably at least in part to the language I was watching it in, English, for starters. I'm sorry, but the voiceacting was terrible. It had the odd, emotionless, clipped quality of stereotypical English dubs.
And then also, if you haven't noticed, I tend to watch more realistic or sci-fi shows. This one fell more into the "fantasy" category. While I like fantasy books, I'm not fond of it in animes, especially when there are attempts at comedy when thrown in.I prefer a lot of the more serious animes, and if a show is philosophically deep, I'll probably watch it regardless of the genre. But otherwise, I won't gravitate towards fantasy. I like to imagine the look of things in fantasy for myself. And no matter how they call it science, "Alchemy" is anything but. Its only ties to science is the Law of Conservation of Matter and references to the periodic table of the elements.
Maybe it got better later in the series, I don't know. I refused to watch it past the first episode. If I get immensely bored (i.e. finish Innocent Venus, Ergo Proxy, Gilgamesh, and anything else that pops up), I may try it again. But for the moment, I'm not going to.
So it's not so much FMA itself, but rather the genre that it falls into. I think that possibly, if I were to watch it purely for the comical value, I might have liked it better. But when a show tries to be funny and serious at the same time, it doesn't always work out so well.

Wow I must completely disagree. I thought the voice acting was actually good. I mean Greed's voice and Mustang.... The blend of comedy and seriousness was done pretty well, it was a bit random, but thats how me and my friends are, so it felt more real to ME. The reason they ended it weird was for $$$ and so people would buy the movie.

FMA was good. I liked how Ed and Al tried to get the Philosepher's Stone and their struggles along the way. I thought it was ironic that they get the Stone but it was inside Al so they couldn't use it. I don't know how it ended though because I keep missing the episode. Sure there were a few weird things mixed in but over all it was good.
