As Colche's muzzle pushed againist the soft flesh of Richard's chest, the new sensation barely registered as all four of his arms closed around her furry figure. The tentacles hovered protectively over head, ready to strike againist the world that dared to threaten his young charge. Richard's mind was filled with the desire to comfort the cub within his arms. He stroked her head with the tips of his claws and made comforting sounds.
He looked over her with his eyes filled with a serene concern. That of a mother assuring her children that the monsters under the bed were gone now. "It's alrright." It was almost a purr.
When she spoke Richard nodded knowlingly. "I understand." She had relived that terrible time while he had watched, there was no desire to put her though it again.
His grip losened but did not let go.

She let out a soft sigh as richard stated he wouldn't tell anyone. She didn't even want to know herself, the rememberance of her past life, she didn't want nor need it, it was long gone, this was her home her place, her saftey net. She let out a little puurr and pulled slowly away from the man. She didn't want to leave, she had decided the beach was definately the place for her, even with her broken leg. She couldn't return to her duplex, at leats not yet, it was a fear she couldn't face up to at the moment.
"Richard nice, good" She half smiled, her long black locks falling over her cheeks and down ehr chest. "Knows I not never be like everyone Richard. Tried, but not never" she looked at her fingers then, their soft tawny clawed fingers playing with her dark tresses. "wants ta, wants ta forget, and jus' be likes everyone else...Jus' ..Jus can't" she gave a heavy sigh, she was better off just being wild, forgetting about trying to be 'like everyone else' even though that had gotten her in to trouble and inhereted her a pair of crutches.
"Should jus' be wild Richard, yes?" she lifted her perfect, tear flooded blue eyes to look at the man before her, seeking confirmation that she was doing the right thing, following her 'instincts' becoming wild.

Richard listened intently as Colche explained, trying to peice together her shattered grammar. What did she mean by "everyone else". Richard ran his claws through his curly hair. His headache had been forgotten in the tender moment and it was now creeping into his skull. "What do mean be like everyone else? Not all of us are very happy people Colche."
His expression darkened as she talked about being wild. "No Colche. You should not be wild." His voice was stern. The image of Jamal flooded his mind and sent shivers down his spine. He had talked but there was nothing human left in that mind, just a territorial animal. The prospect of Colche transforming into a simple beast of the wilds was not acceptable. "Listen to me Colche. I've met a wild man, that is not how one lives."

"Want to read, speak, be like everuone, write, do things, be like evryone." She looked the man dead in the eyes then, her perfect blue orbs almost begging for perhaps a flicker of confirmation that maybe she would eb like everyone else, though ehr gaze quickly fell. Even Aubrey wouldn't or couldn't confirm that she would ever be like everyone else. "Not stupid...Just tried and not happens." She had seen the looks that others gave her,s eh hated those looks,s he wasn't stupid, she understood, she knew what they were saying even responded as best she could, her knowlege was minamal, all she had ever wanted was to learn, to be able to speak and interact just like everyone else.
Her ears flattened against her head with that stern voice, her brow furrowing unhappily. "But..." She didn't know what the but was but her paw came up to wipe at her eyes once again "tried to be like everyone, just not never happened." she pouted at the man hoping he would understand. Hoping he would get the idea, hoping that he realised that being wild was maybe something she could do, even though she had made a pigs ear, quite literally, of her first attempt at going wild.

Oh what do you say to that? Richard wanted to help the cheetah girl but how? Well there was a way He supposed. It could very well end in disaster for Colche's ego. If she truly wanted to learn though it would be up to her.
Richard bowed his head as he thought on the matter. A thoughful frown on his face as he considered what to say and how to say it. "Well..." He raised his eyes to Colche and then gave her a grandfatherly smile. "I'm not going to make you just like everyone else. Everyone comes from lots of different places and people are just as different. Howeverrrr. I might be able to help you with the reading and writing bits. If you want to learn and your willing to work at it." That was about as much sugar coating as Richard could manage for Colche.

Colche fidgeted a little, filtering thesand below her theough her furry paws. Would Richard help or would it be just like Josh again? Woul;d she find herself without another teacher? Could she take that chance that he would help her? Her ears danced uncertainly as she sat there, her clawed hands bunching. "I wants, wants ta learn Richard" she whispers, her head still turned to the warm sand rather than up at the man. "Wont just..teach for not forever though?" She didn't have the word, the word forever was one she knew, she mostly understood. What she knew was that Josh had wanted to help her, wanted to teach her, but things had changed and now all she had was a minimal, if better understanding of the world around her than she used to have.
"Won't just, give up?" she lifted her head, the phrase give up, she had done that once, before the island, the world she knew had given up on her so she in turn had given up everything. She needed to know, needed to know he wouldn't just, forget, give up, abandon any hope of teaching her.

"Not forever?" Richard ran a clawed hand through his hair as he attempted to puzzle out Colche's words. He didn't have any experience with children or teaching for that matter. "Not forever," he mumbled again. Ah yes she was asking if he'd stop. It was not a question he had control over, he could be hauled off to the labs at anytime for any reason. To promise forever would be wrong he reasoned. He didn't quite grasp the needs that Colche was expressing, the fear of abandonment.
"Colche, I can't promise forever. But as long as I'm in the village I'll teach you. I don't give up." He reached out and touched the side of her cheek.

Her tail swayed through the sand as she watched the elderly gentleman, she listened to his words, smilig when he realised what she meant. His promise, although it did not hold everything she was looking for, and although she had been left with these hopes unfullfilled before, was at least enough for her to give an agreeing nod. "Okay" She smiled her head tilting as she leaned in to his hand, a puurr echoeing from her chest. "Jus' wanna learn richard." She opened ehr perfect blue eyes and nodded a firm affirmative. If he was willing and able, she would jump at the chance to take up her studys again. She was determined, one day, she would be like everyone else, perhaps not completely, but she would talk like them and understand them. She would.

Richard grinned, pleased. "Good!" His own tail gave a positive lash behind him. "Give me a week or so to pick out the lessons and we'll begin." RIchard was making a mental list of the things he needed to order. Perhaps he could get a home schooling kit? Did they make such things? A week would give him time to read a book or two on the subject and finish his newsletter.
He started to rise and then stopped. A thought occurred to him. "Colche have you been taught before?" He would have to find out how much she knew now to before he decided what to teach.

Colche nodded. "yes, Josh, for little." She frowned and looked out at the sea. She knew full wells eh wasn't ready to go back to her duplex yet, so richard couldn't find her theer when he was ready, plus a 'week' meant nothing to her. There were only days and then more days. Seven of them didn't exactly come in to her vocabulary. "Will be here" she stated simply, a little smile lifting her lips. She would live on the ebach for a while, until she gained the courage to return to her duplex. "love beach, is purty" she puurrs quietly her perfect blue gaze fixed upon the soft rolling waves of the medeterranean.

Richard had not caught on that Colche meant that she would be living on the beach, after all it was still early morning. "Ah good." He leaned in, bring his eyes level with Colche's. "Alright then now this is what I want you do to then. I want you practice everything um, Josh taught you. Make a list. Then I want you to spend a sometime practicing that everyday. Can you do that for me?" Richard's tone was soft and encouraging like one would talk to a child.
"I need to know where to start."

Colche's brow furrowed. Josh taught her a little, but how to make a list? She could only just write her name. "Josh taught to read better. read alll Charlotts web" She smiled hopeing that was enough, truethfully that was all that Josh had taught her, to read the one book, which she had read from cover to cover a few times. She still didn't understand it all, though she knew the story off by heart thanks to the dvd she had. Still,s he knew the book mostly, she had read it and Josh had explained alot of it. It just didn't exactly help, she hadn't read anything else, she didn't have help to do so.

Richard smiled encouragingly, it was a start. He didn't understand that Colche could read something without being able to write it. "Thats a tough book! Alright, read it again and make two lists. One with words you know and one with words you don't." Richard had no idea how difficult the task was but figured it would keep her busy while he figured out what the hell was doing. "Just do you best and don't give up. Alright?"

Colche frowned a little but nodded gently. Again that word list. Something clicked though in that somewhat juvenile brain of hers and she sighed, "ni list, Richard, only write.." She put one of her claws to the sand and wrote a very elongated, childish, version of her name. She tilted her head and smiled a little, she was proud of herself that she could do that.
"See?" she tilted her head, hoping he would understand now that writing down things wasn't really an option at this point.

Richard pressed his thin lips together, finally seeing the shear magnitude of the task before him. "Well... Lets see then. You reread that book so you can tell me all about it." His smile returned.
Richard rose and ruffled the top of Colche's head. "Just give me a few days and I'll have those lessons all planned out for you."
