I agree with you halfway...It does seem like she's underestimating Hinata but I don't believe seeing other people will help her character development.
Hinata’s feelings of admiration and affection stem from the same source, and both influence her actions. In other words, Hinata’s thoughts and actions concerning Naruto are influenced by her feelings as a whole, not just admiration or just affection.
Plus, since Kishimoto has demonstrated that Hinata’s romantic feelings for Naruto are still present post timeskip, that is still an aspect of her character that needs resolution. At this point, simply ignoring Hinata’s affections and never bringing them up again would leave a loose end. Besides, why would Kishimoto keep Hinata’s affections after the time jump if he didn’t plan on resolving them?

I was kinda half-joking. sweatdrop About the only person I would like Hinata to talk to even the slightest little bit would be Kurenai. To me, she's sort of like Hinata's mother figure. Of course, she's her sensei, so she's gotta be tough on her. She may willingly be choosing not to interfere because she wants Hinata to act upon it herself. Like if it's meant to be, it'll happen on its own.
It would be hilarious if Jiraiya talked her down, though. XD There's no denying that would have a bizarre aftermath... blaugh There's fanfiction fodder for someone.

[U]zumaki [S]akura WHOA WHOA WHOA! You're making me think that you think the only point of Hinata is to be a love interest for Naruto, when they've had less than two hours of interraction and their relationship is currently based off of admiration. Actually... here's some scanlations from the Databook. Kishimoto says HInata fell in love with Naruto-- it doesn't say a thing about admiration XD Although, yes, she does admire him, Kishimoto stated in the datebooks that she is in love with me XD And the databook was translated by someone I trust with my life, so I'm pretty sure they're accurate (images were taken off MangaHelpers). Detailed translation explanations: Quote: Yes it is a love story. ko-i-mo-no-ga-ta-ri literally means that in English. Key words and phrases: Hesitant, up and down love story Even though she likes [suki*] Naruto, Hinata can't seem to make any progress. However, sometimes it can be seen that in her own way she musters up the courage for an 'attack'. That's because it is her nindou. The reason is clear why Hinata would fall in love with poor student Naruto. It's because she wants to become like him.(...) (...)she doesn't lose her kindness because of Naruto's existence in her mind. The reserved and shy Hinata. She freezes and can't do anything in front of the one she likes, Naruto. She's always thinking of how she wants to change that part of herself. I'll leave the interpretation almost entirely to you. *suki: liking, fondness, love In addition to the use of "suki", it also said 'fell in love' [koi wo suru] in the part pointing out the obvious reason she would fall for him. "Love story."; "Fall in love."; "Naruto and Herself."; "Likes" [Suki]: This is NOT a mistranslation. It is completely accurate. Pages from Databook 1: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y81/SiretaInDisguise/Naruto/113114km7na2.jpgPages from Databook 2: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y81/SiretaInDisguise/Naruto/db2141hinataeagle1xu.jpgI"mnot saying Hinata's only point is this, because it' snot. I'm just saying she is in love with him, not in admiration.

Chibi_Naru-chan You'd think someone would do SOMETHING after seeing Hinata act like this for so long! Especially Kurenai! I'd be worried about my student if she acted like Hinata... Maybe everyone's afraid to say something. eek It's because when nobody's watching, Hinata smacks her team around until they promise they won't tell. 8] *bricked*
I think the same way. XD I'm really really surprised that Kiba hasn't said anything. I mean...it's KIBA. XD
I think Kurenai, as a woman, understands a least a little of what Hinata's going through. And I also think that because Kurenai wants what's best for Hinata, she doesn't ant to interfere. She knows that Hinata needs to do things on her own if she wants to change herself. Kurenai wouldn't tell Naruto, or someone who would tell Naruto, because she wants Hinata to know that she could do it herself.
Because that's what she really needs to do, and it's what her character has been given the spotlight to. Self-confidence and being able to work hard to change yourself for the better.

All Jiraiya will do is implact dirty ideas to lure Naruto into poor Hinata's head. Don't bother bringing that pervy sage in.

I think Kiba will tell his feelings towards Hinata, but gets rejected. Kiba, being a good friend to Hinata, would help her get Naruto's attention.

I always saw Kiba as more of a brother figure to Hinata. Shino, too. It would be really sweet to see Kiba help her with her problem.

I really hope Team 8 will be getting some action soon. All the other teams have.... well, Team Gai sort of.....
But, it's difficult to say if there will be an NaruHina, since Kishimoto is having Sakura sorta have some feelings for Naruto now.

I hope Naruto and Hinata will finally get together... I also think that what people have been saying about all the teams and team 8 finally getting their chance in the spot light is true. The spot light will more likely then not be with Naruto's team. OMG I just thought of a OneShot idea... going to go write it!!! Bye!!! rofl ninja
