The cub's smile broadened ever-so-slightly in spite of her fears. 'But it is. Speaking like this, and even to the fish -- I never even imagined they'd have anything to say.' Though now that she thought about it (rather sheepishly), the thought that they might have been laughing at her all the while didn't seem so far-fetched.

She was curious what other creatures he might communicate with using that talent of his, but didn't want to bother him with too many silly questions. Especially not when he already seemed embarrassed. 'Oh, that's right... my name.' Fae gave another meek little shuffle of her paws, ears twitching to and fro.

Considering that was what had bought this on, the least she could do was give it to him. The question was, which name to give? 'I have... two, actually. '

Hinhallow smiled. Thank you, you are very kind.. And as far as the fish... He wrinkled his nose. They never have anything too important to say...
From the lake came the distant sound of laughter. Only Hinhallow could hear it, but he turned and glared at the water. Eyes narrowed, he muttered. "Scaly snacks..."
Shaking his head, he turned back to her. In truth, they have been my friends since I was a cub.. They're, quite amusing, more often then not.. They used to cheer me up..
He tilted his head. You have two names?
Well.. That was a new one...

((Fweee~~ timeskip and growth spurt ahoy!))

It was by chance that Fae came across the familiar riverbank again. It was a less than spectacular morning this time around, hazy and overcast with a certain stickiness clinging to the very air itself. But even the foulest of weather wouldn't have been enough to stifle the tiny grin that played across her muzzle as she recalled her friend. The first true conversation she'd had since kitten-hood (long since warped and blurred by the flow of time), the first to know her birth name.

She padded slowly towards the water, eyeing her own reflection for a moment with a touch of wistfulness. Time, it seemed, had finally caught up to her. No longer did the sight of a tiny, jumpy cub greet her... in its place stood a sleek, petite lioness.

A lioness who still lacked a place in her pride. There'd be no ducking into the security of Niobe's forepaws now.

Hinhallow paced through the land and cleansed it... Well, he did all he could... There was some magic in his family, and by the time he was up to his belly in water, it was crystal clear and his friends were swimming again... The King of the River, a great, multi-colored fish he had known since his cubhood, swam beside him. Slowly he pushed his strength into the water, chased away the murky taint.
'You have our thanks, Dream Weaver...' The great fish murmured in his mind. 'You have ever been our Friend, and that you help us save our home.. We are most grateful...'
"It is nothing." Hinhallow murmured, sighing when the river flowed clear and the land itself seemed to be making an effort to heal itself. With clean water, the land would lose it's taint... But just in case... It would probably be better if he stayed and kept his eyes on it...
Spying a space on the bank he had been laying in so many nights ago.. He smiled. This was where he had met Galatea.. The first lioness he had told of his gift.. And she hadn't minded.. She had had such a sweet voice... He wondered how she was.. Where she...
"Galatea!" He squeeked, realizing she stood - a lovely adult- on the bank.

Fae's shoulders went tense for no more than an instant, startled, but was set quickly at ease once the familiarity of the voice set in. Not to mention, her father aside, only one lion knew of her by her true name. Who else could it be?

She turned to face him, inner uncertainties shuffled to a side in favor of a cheerful smile. 'Hinhallow!'

'Galatea! It's so wonderful to see you again!' He grinned joyously and bounded through the water toward her. Stopping not too far away, he carefully shook most of the water from his coat, bid the fish a silent farewell, and trotted up onto the bank.
She was so lovely now! No longer the timid cub who had feared him, but his friend. An elegant lioness that never spoke a word aloud, but had the most beautiful voice he had ever heard. He paced up and butted his head against her's, purring deeply.
'How have you been?'

Galatea waited patiently as he took the time to shake himself off, though the way the lioness leaned just ever so slightly in his direction was indication enough of just how eager she was. And fortunately, the wait wasn't a long one. Though most of the water had been shaken away, there was still enough lingering to leave her fur damp from the affectionate gesture; it didn't stop her from returning it, though her's was a touch more reserved. Limited not by fear, but the lioness's initial shy nature. 'I've been going gre -- '

She stopped mid-way through, smile faltering a bit. With all the drama that had taken place within the pride, all the missing members, and her own general unrest... really, it had been anything but as of late. Much as she would have liked to have pretended otherwise, what good would it do to try and hide her thoughts from someone she spoke to the very same way? Never mind the fact that while she didn't want him to worry, she didn't want to be dishonest either.

'Things have been complicated, ' she admitted after a brief pause. 'And you? I haven't seen you in so long.' Though she didn't intend for it to, the wisps of a single, soft 'i missed you' slipped by unnoticed.

Hinhallow beamed and nosed her again, overjoyed that she was well.. Her initial message changed to one with more honesty ringing behind the words. He appreciated her honesty, but worried. Was her life alright? Her family?
'I am sorry that things have been complicated, but I hope at least you are well.' He offered silently, blue eyes soft. 'I have been well, wandering mostly... Anything to pass the time...'
He smiled and shrugged, shaking it off. At her words, he beamed wider. Whether she wanted him to know it or not, he had heard her words. 'I missed you too.' He kept the last thought quiet... Just soft and gentle enough to slip past her utmost thoughts and echo in the back of her mind.

Galatea nodded slowly. 'That I have.' In spite of everything, her own confusion included, she really couldn't have been better. She was healthy and happy with her pride, fears slowly ebbing away in the face of love and care. Now that she'd grown... there were some things that would never truly leave her, of course. But in turn, she'd conquered many of her inner demons. No more flinching behind Niobe at every turn, as though the very winds itself would steal her back to the hell from which she'd came.

Even better now. She had her friend back again; that in itself was a step in the right direction, wasn't it?

'I'm very glad to hear you've been faring well, too.' The lioness tilted her head thoughtfully, gaze still lowered out of sheer habit habit. Though she did sneak brief glances in here and there, locking her own black eyes with Hinhallow's away and breaking away again within an instant. 'How is it? To wander like that?' It wasn't something she planned on doing any time in the near future (if ever), especially when she was so dependent upon the pride. But there had always been a sort of curiosity lingering within Galatea, in spite of it all.

The lioness ducked her head slightly lower, almost as though embarrassed. Though that delicate little smile of her's grew that much brighter, the soft echo soothing, reassuring. She peered back up at him again through a veil of bangs, not nearly enough to mask the hope that shone in her eyes. 'Do you think... you might stay for awhile? Or are you leaving again?'

Hinhallow resettled himself, taking a moment to shake out and smooth his cloud-like mane and playfully prod at a tuft of grass... He had no real plans at the moment, there were things he really should do... Lions he should check on... They were all close to this area... So he could stay for awhile... He probably should....
It was good to see Galatea again, she was one less to worry about. She had come far from the frightened, shy cub... I imagine I will remain here for the time being... There are lions in the local prides I would see... Just to assure myself they are well... And wandering is all well and good, but after a while, you do long for a place to call home... A family to stay and rest with... I no longer have that family, but perhaps I will visit my grandmother, and my aunts and cousins within her Pride... I would enjoy meeting them...
He grinned and gave a bit of a shrug.
