Anybody remember the Seventh Doctor's Hitchhiker's reference? mrgreen

The seventh doctor made a hitchikers reference??!? ... I never watched any of the 7th doctor...

Who did? ...other than one person here. mrgreen

"Who was it that said earthmen never invite their ancestors to dinner?"

xp Two of us watched the 7th Doctor! Well, I watched Ghost Light at least. And the others that are on DVD.

According to my friend there is a reference in Torchwood too. But I don't watch much Torchwood.

I loved the line in the Christmas Invasion:

"I just saved the world in my jammies. How very Arthur Dent of me!"

What kind of Doctor references are in the Trilogy?

I watched the McCoy episodes, but never read the Hitchhiker books in their entirety, so any reference was completely lost on me. Probably explains why I didn't get very far in that Hitchhiker game stresshog gave a link to a while back.

I love the first three Hitchikers books. SLATFATF was utter crap though and I didn't even bother with 'Mostly Harmless' after that. I also love the Seventh Doctor, he's the best of the lot IMO.

I thought there was only 4 books, and then some stuff compiled by family afterwards. I'm kinda wierded out about #3 though.... number 2 was odd also. Ah well. I've got 3/4 on my bookshelf.

The last book gets kinda confusing with the parallels- what with Tricia and Trillian and everything... haha and the ending, I had to read it three times over for it to register in my brain, it was so... just... abrupt and unexpected!

Did that whole business about "Arthur Dent, now there's a nice man..." strike anyone else as the sort of thing you'd say about someone you actually knew? xd I could almost imagine the Doctor meeting Arthur Dent. Except Arthur would probably be alarmed to find out that Ford Prefect isn't the only person in the universe who often acts rather like Ford Prefect.

In Destiny of the Daleks, the Doctor reads "The Origins of the Universe" by Oolan Caluphid, who is also mentioned in HHGttG. Could Doctor Who and Hitch-Hikers possibly be set in the same universe?

So the Doctor wasn't kidding when he made that reference to Arthur Dent in the Christmas special...

I can't believe no-one's mentioned this! In the 1981 series of H2G2, Peter Davison (the Doctor at the time) made a guest appearance as the Dish Of The Day at Milliways! He's not really recognisable though, and he's using a different accent, but it's him! Here's the proof (go down to Number 46)...
