Hedge123 Heh heh...JW's. Oops, off topic.(seriously, Jehovah's Witnesses are cool.) Liberal Christians are perfectly normal. One of my friends you wouldn't know he was Christian until he told you, cause he's so laid back about it. That, in my opinion, is the best kind of religious person. Not pressing their beliefs, just allowing for yours to exist, and making debate, not argument. Studies have shown that humans stop "listening" after their blood pressure reaches a certain level, like in an argument. Oops, off subject. Yes, I agree also. However I've come across more non liberal preaching christian fundies that I was beggining to think all the fundies were like that. So finding out about christians was a surprise. AS for what I know I don't know much. ONly what I've read at http://www.religioustolerance.org/prog_chr.htm (I love that site)

Here is the thing about liberal christians. We think your wrong and we think we're right. Sorry not to be mean. But we tolerate your belief in your religion even though we think you are wrong. Some people label themselves as liberals just to talk to pagans and such to convert them. Not liberal catholics now thats a doozy let me tell. I'll be talking to someone who practices wicca and I'm interested in it so I ask questions and compare similar traditions so she says what I practice and I say I'mm catholic. She is like "What?! Aren't you supposed to tell me I'm to go to hell?" Just for info one of my best friends is Islamic and my old best friend though I don't really talk to her is Neo-pagan so I'm open to all.

My best friend here at school is a self-proclaimed political conservative but religious liberal. She is Episcopal, so she is Christian and really, she does not even think that she is right and others are wrong.
It does not bother her that I am homosexual or non-religious. She does not believe that you have to be a religious person to be a good person and she thinks that as long as a person is good, god will reward them, whether or not they are Christian.
Basically, she feels that a person should do what is best for his or herself religiously and just try to be a decent human being.

Finally! Liberal Christians! I was beginning to feel alone in this world. I have grown up in a very traditional, Catholic, Mexican family. They have never been exactly strict with how we should believe, but it I ever dissagree or have an opposite oppinion, they o.O at me and say that I am talking back. Comimg out of the closet didn't make anything easier either.

What I'm not the only one! eek I don't know what to say. I mean I have had to deal with everything from ridcule to being shunned from a church(yes it really did happen). Wow. I'm glad to know I'm not only "True" Christian out there. As for christianity being tolerant of others. The bible is all about tolerance, thats what Jesus taught.

Tora Hikari Naeryn Though it *is* funny when they show up at your door, and you invite them into your "den of satanism" (I'm talking nude statues, pet snakes, pentagrams everywhere... xd ) Jehova's Witness get a bad rep though. Some of them are really quite nice. My friend was JW, now he's a shaman. I was LDS, now I'm neo-pagan. And pentagrams... are you crazy, woman? I wouldn't keep a pentagram anywhere near me. Of course... I've got my pentacle around my neck, so I guess I'd set them off just as bad. xd Oh yes, no disrespect meant by the 'are you crazy, woman?' comment. EDIT: Red text was word misuse corrected. *bangs head on table* I feel very stupid now... ...leave me alone, I'm new at this! ninja

I am a VERY liberal person (just ask any of my friends), yet I'm Christian. I'm just not as strongly Christian as most Christians. I believe in God, and I believe that Jesus is the son of God. I do not, however, believe in everything the Bible says, for example the gay/lesbian is a sin belief. I'm a VERY STRONG advocate for gay/lesbian people (I am straight). Like I said earlier, I may be Christian, but I'm a loose Christian, meaning that I believe in the basic beliefs, but that's it.

Holdwine I think I could be considered a Liberal Christian, I think. Where I am from Liberal is like a bad word and I never understood why, still don't really. I always try not to push my religeon onto other people, because I don't like it done to me. My nuber one rule is, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." I think it makes since no matter what religeon you are. Neo_Merlin, what kind of information do you have on Liberal Chrstians, I am interested in it. A little off-topic, but you're pretty cute. Where I come from THERE ARE NO LIBERAL CHRISTIANS. I feel so alone! crying jk. But there really aren't that many lcs where I live.

I'm a liberal-catholic-christian and see no conflict with either beleifs...i mean to be christian is saying that God/ Jesus is your savior (and meaning it)....and being liberal is about tolerance and live and let live and being cool with ppl difirent than you kinda attitude, i mean, i see my faith as working for me, but i'm not going to force it on anyone else... i don't see any real conflict there....

in america these days it seems to be that if you say you're a christian, you're expected to be a right-winger, hostile to ethnic groups, gays, and everybody who isn't like you. it didn't use to be that way. for a long time it was okay to have freedom of conscience and make up your own mind about things. then the big "mainline" denominations began losing members and the leaders blamed it on liberalism and started backing off from their former ideas. here is a site i like by a guy who is fighting to maintain the right of christians to think freely: http://religiousliberal.blogspot.com/there are good links there too
